Enterprise Wayne NJ review: Items left in rental vehicle

I rented a SUV at the Enterprise Wayne NJ location from Sunday, January 22 to Wednesday, February 1, 2023. I was satisfied with the service I received upon renting the car. A few days after returning the car I realized that I had forgotten two packable emergency jackets (insulated tech and rain), gloves, and a hat in a zippered compartment in a privacy cover located over the top of the cargo area. I went back to the rental site and inquired if any of the workers had found those items. The manager said no but that he would call the cell phone number of the present renter and leave a message. I was assured he would contact me with an answer either way. After five days I called and was told that they were still looking. After two weeks I stopped in at the rental site and saw the SUV I had rented in a parking space. Two employees got the keys to the vehicle and opened the back hatch for the cargo area. The cover was not in the car. I was told that the covers eventually get removed after so many miles. I found that answer to be questionable because when I leased the car it had 1,400 miles.

It was my mistake leaving those items in the car. From now on I will take pictures of where I place items in a rental car as a reference. I do feel though if the cars are thouroughly cleaned beteween renters then someone should have come across the items before it was rented again.
