If you are thinking about joining ELITE Fitness & Education rethink your decision.

The gym and classes themselves are so-so. There is better equipment, facilities, and classes at other gyms around town. The hours are pretty good, but again nothing special as compared to other places in town. In terms of price/value… well therein lies the problem.

Elite, in my experience, is more interested in the money they can get out of you rather than your health/fitness/wellness. They have the razzle dazzle of any sales person and are initially very accommodating, but don’t be fooled. Under the surface they are just as slimy as used car salesmen.

When you go in to sign up for a gym membership, they will attempt to get you to sign up for a yearlong contract. I asked for month-to-month, but they lied straight to my face saying that wasn’t an option. In fact the owner himself says he pushes his employees to sell 1 year contracts, because it keeps customers from quitting their goals.

That’s a nice sentiment, but in reality it is just another salesmen spin. Particularly because the employee who sells the membership to you, the fitness manager, and the owners all receive commission based on what they sell to you.

Insist month-to-month membership. If you sign up for longer the owners have no problem treating you like garbage because you are dissatisfied with the quality of the services promised. Protect yourself and your money, because you can be damned sure that is exactly what Victor Brauner(owner)and his wife are doing.

Additionally, I find the owners self righteous. They think they’re offering something special and that that somehow deems them the right to have horribly rude customer interactions. In a customer service industry that is pretty crazy.

Overall, if you were my friend I'd tell you to not join Elite. If you do, be prepared to have any of your complaints fall on deaf ears. Also be comfortable wasting your money. I learned my lesson the hard way trying to reason with these people. Save yourself and your pocketbook the hassle, and go somewhere else!
