I contacted Todd C. Case, MD, a plastic surgeon in Tucson, AZ because I needed an expert witness for a medical malpractice case. I was suing a doctor in the San Francisco area because he operated on more than a dozen of the wrong parts of my body, including the wrong leg. I couldn't find a bay area doctor willing to testify against this butcher, so I had to go out of state. Before I paid Dr. Case, I specifically asked him if he would be willing to testify against this doctor if he found from the medical file that what this guy did was malpractice. Case said yes. So I sent him $500 along with the complete medical records.

Case sent me a letter saying that it appeared that this doctor had operated on my right inner thigh without consent. That's it. I called Case and asked him, what about the other 18 parts? He wouldn't give me a direct answer. I asked him about the X's this idiot carved into my hips for no reason and without my consent. I asked him what about the damage to my knees , also operated on without reason or consent. I asked him about the dents on my right outer thigh, back of thighs, the chunks of my body missing from my hips and calves, all without reason or consent. I sent Case a letter, I left messages on his voicemail, telling him I needed his statement to pursue the medical malpractice case. I told him I would be willing to fly to Tucson if he needed to examine me in person. I reminded him that he had agreed to give me an unbiased assessment of my medical records, and I told him I was broke, having lost my business because I was so depressed over what that doctor had done to me. I couldn't afford to hire another expert, and I was up against the deadline to declare an expert witness to the court. No response. I then left a message telling him that if he wasn't going to give me the rest of the report that I wanted my money back - that he was essentially stealing money from me, someone who had been the victim of battery, which is what it is called when a doctor operates on the wrong parts.

But apparently Dr. Case didn't care. I never heard from him. Either he thinks that operating on 19 of the wrong parts is OK, or he decided that he didn't want to testify against a well-connected, powerful, wealthy doctor. This "code of silence" among doctors is well known.

I lost the medical malpractice case because I didn't have an expert witness, thanks to what Dr. Case did to me. I have almost constant pain in my knees, and I don't have full use of them. They were perfect before that disastrous surgery. I am currently recovering from 8 hours of surgery to try to fix that doctor's numerous mistakes. I will still need at least one more surgery, and there are no guarantees that I will ever be back to normal again. I will never be compensated for my injuries, which will probably effect me for the rest of my life. Do you really want to have a doctor operate on you who considers that staying on good terms with other doctors is more important than helping a badly injured patient? I think one should consider a doctor's ethics, or lack thereof, when choosing a doctor.

Just because you are happy with the job Dr. Case did on your breasts, that doesn't negate what he did to me. He behaved shamefully when he ripped me off for $500 and essentially blew my case. He is dishonest and has no integrity, and has not responded to my post here.

And I don't know how things are in your state, but in CA it is almost impossible to get an attorney to take a medical malpractice case on contingency unless you have catastrophic injuries - brain damage, paralysis, death, etc, because of CA's $250K limit on pain & suffering damages in med mal cases.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience with a plastic surgeon there in California, I had a pretty bad one there with my breast implants. I've just recently gone to Dr. Case with my disfigured breasts and he took me in within a week to correct the botched boobs. I wasn't happy with the one that was so painfully disfigured before he fixed it so he reconstructed it for me FREE a second time till I was happy at absolutely no charge! I love the work he has done for me and he did not charge me a fortune for the first job, he went through all the paperwork with the implant company and got me all the money that was due to me. He has proven to be a fine and gifted plastic surgeon, I know this first hand.

You should have had an attorney find you an expert and let the attorney handle all the wrangling and monetary exchanges for any expert opinions. Attorney's have deeper pockets and will not collect money due to them until after your case is settled. You would have probably come out of this much better financially and physically.

Good luck with your future health and I hope you get the ### that butchered you.

Sincerely,

Christine Ricci

Please call me. [protected]. I want to discuss all of this about r. Case. He did some surgery on me 3 months ago, and I am worse off that I was before my surgery. I am soooooo unhappy. I would love to tell you the story of what I have been through and the lies. I paid dr case around 15, 000. I never got y face products, have a terrible result in surgery, and he said he'd taker care of it, all 'd have to pay is the anesthesia and equipment. Well, now he now is charging me more than the original surgery to fix these horrible results! I am shocked and deeply hurt. I am going to hve to live with my ugly results because I cannot and will not pay this because It isnt fair. Please call me.

Please remove my complaint immediately. I have been trying to figure out how to do this myself, but I cannot figure out how to. Dr. Case and his staff have been most kind and everyting is being worked out wonderfully. I was upset and acted to quickly . I am sorry that I have posted here.

Maybe Dr. Case didn't feel the original Doctor was at fault and was unwilling to testify against him. You paid a doctor $500 to review your file, which he apparently did. Now you are unsatisified with his assessment. You seem to harbor a lot of hostility towards Dr. Case. You should direct your hostility towards the Doctor that performed the surgery and not towards the Doctor who reviewed the paperwork. You should have hired an attorney to pursue charges against the Doctor in California who caused you harm. Your complaint against Dr. Case is completely without merit and is practically slanderous.

Agree with Mark Field and Christine Ricci, I am thrilled with Dr. Cases results and sounds to me like you should have made better choices in handling your malpractice suit. I would be extremely pissed off if I were you, but you are so directing it at the wrong person. How crazy is that?!?! Why did you allow this doctor in CA to butcher you so many different times? Why did you keep going back after the first butcher job? Was this life-saving or elective? I don't see any shameful behavior on Dr. Cases behalf, like Mark said he reviewed your file, who would send someone out-of state their last $500 to do that without a report in hand first? You lost your job due to depression?!?!?! Buck up and get it back...Make money so you can re-open your case and continue to send Doctors around the world $500 to review your case...Get your surgery corrected by a reputable Doctor or JUST MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE!

I will never forget the horrible experience that I ended up with after the incapable hands of Dr. Todd Case did my surgery. I am very unhappy with my results. I have met another lady here in Tucson that is very unhappy with her results too. His "people skills" are terrible, he is stone cold-without an ounce of empathy, and if you're not happy with your results, elect to pay the full price again for him to fix it. An absolute nightmare. Wish I would have went someplace else.

I went to case due to a friend saying he did a good job. Untrue! I told him I wanted to go two sizes bigger and I can now still wear the same size bra what a waste of money. I will tell my friends not to go there and make sure to keep posting everywhere how he didn't listen to what I really wanted!

I agree. I had a bad experience with him as well. No people skills. Just had my problem fixed with a reputable facial surgeon in Scottsdale. I get my cast off today . Very excited! Walked around with a crooked wide nose for about 4 years. Finally had the nerve and money to get a revision.

I had too redue my surgery because Dr.case went wrong in different areas! He was also rude to my husband when he asked a question (after the surgery). I will never go to him again!
