I’m a 62 year old retired registered nurse, married to husband Mike for 34 years, never had a psychiatric diagnosis. After a longrunning domestic dispute, I decided to move to California to live with my sister and get a divorce.

After days of arguing and discord, I convinced my husband to leave the house for a few days to give me time to pack and get out. The next day several policemen arrived at the house to take me to Lakeside Behavioral Center. They explained that “my psychiatrist Dr. Anne Utley had referred me for involuntary commitment because I was psychotic, suicidal and homicidal.” I explained that I didn’t have a psychiatrist and didn’t know Dr. Utley and was not psychotic, suicidal or homicidal. Nonetheless, they forcibly put me into a squad car and took me to Lakeside Behavioral Center.

Upon admission to Lakeside, I was judged to be NOT psychotic or suicidal by three admitting healthcare professionals. I explained to the therapist that I did not know Dr.Utley. The therapist phoned Dr. Utley who confirmed that she didn’t know me or my husband and that she ordered the involuntary commitment as a favor to her sister who was a friend of my husband. The therapist documented this information in my medical record.

I was allowed to leave Lakeside AMA when administration was informed that my
situation would be reported to my senator, my congressman and Medicare Fraud and Abuse.

I have never had a psychiatric diagnosis and it is beyond comprehension that the unethical (and possibly illegal) actions of Dr. Anne C. Utley could land me in a mental institution in order to do a favor for a sister. Official allegations of abuse have been registered against Dr. Utley with the TN Department of Health Board of Licensure.

The Lakeside therapist could not believe it when I told her that a psychiatrist I had never met called the police to pick me up. The therapist asked my permission to call Dr Utley to confirm my allegation. In the phone conversation, Dr Utley told the therapist that I was not her patient, that she had never met me or my husband, that she did it as a favor for her sister Julie Clark. It was not a case of mistaken identity. Margo in Memphis

I was 17 years old in 1987 and I am now age 47. Dr. Ann Utley did not know me or my family. I met her one time and that was when my parents tricked me and took me to a hospital in midtown, Memphis Tennessee. I believe at the time it was St Joseph Hospital right off the interstate I 40. I was so young but feel certain that was it. I guess my parents consulted with her maybe a time or two, I don't know. I was taken into her office. She spoke with my for about 10-15 minutes and passed me through another door of which was an adolescent lockdown floor of the hospital. She did not know me or my family to have admitted me into the facility. My parents even conveyed that I was not there for drugs or alcohol. Simply, she has an attitude. I experienced such emotional trama that I couldn't and wouldn't participate. This prompted a three month stay. I was there with teens that had drug/alcohol addictions, rape, sexual acting out etc. Let me just say that I do have a relationship with my parents but not a very good one. I feel so violated to this very day. I have raised two healthy boys that are now ages 21 and 17. I have a healthy and close relationship with them. What I knew then and what I know now is that I was always a healthy individual. Its in fact my mother that is a narcissistic, attention seeking woman with my father that enables her. In my opinion, Dr Ann Utley ran a business to make $$$$$. After all these years I decided to seek out her name on the internet to be in utter SHOCK! Seems she still in business at age 77. I say RUN AND RUN FAST!

Healthy and Happy In Texas!

That's not fraud? You're an idiot. It's fraud, medical malpractice and highly injurious and illegal.
