On April 1st, I took my 2018 Ford F150 to Dignity Star Tire for an oil change. Two days later, while driving from Porsche HQ to I-285 around Moreland Ave, the oil light came on, the truck lost power, and I had to pull over. When I restarted the truck, the engine made a terrible grinding noise and a loud knock. I had to get the car towed back to Dignity Star Tire by *** Towing, LLC, and I have the tow receipt. On April 4th, a technician drove my car from the back of the shop to the service bay. I saw the truck up on the lift for inspection. The technician told me to wait for John, who came in and said I had to wait until Monday for the inspection. At that point, I decided to have the truck towed to the dealer.
On April 6th, my service advisor Keith asked for service records, and I gave him the invoice from the oil change on April 1st. On April 7th, Keith called me and informed me of the technician's findings. He said the warranty on the engine would not be covered due to negligence on Dignity Star Tire's part. On April 9th, Brian *** (Ford service manager), Brian(Bryan) *** (not sure about the name), and I had a meeting. Brian(Bryan) *** requested an oil pressure test and further analysis of the engine by Ford technicians. The oil test showed no oil pressure, and a service request was sent to Ford Prior Approval for repairs on April 9th. However, the warranty claim was denied, and I received the results of the Ford Prior Approval, stating that the engine damage was caused by the independent oil shop failing to add the proper amount of oil to the engine.
Brian(Bryan) *** mentioned that it was his procedure to put the truck on the lift after checking the dipstick to see if there was oil in the engine. He also admitted that he didn't personally inspect the vehicle and relied on his technician's word. Brian(Bryan) *** requested Ford to check the oil pump for any faults. I told Brian(Bryan) *** that I wouldn't pay any more money to have the engine stripped down. I also mentioned a conversation I had with *** and another person at the dealership, asking how many oil pumps had been replaced in the past 5 years. They replied none. I paid $348.16 for Ford's initial diagnosis, and I have the receipt for it. I want a refund for this amount.
First, *** (Service Manager at Five Star Ford) is willing to testify in court that the engine damage was due to negligence on the part of Dignity Star Tire. The fact is, I've had this truck since December 17, and it has been running perfectly, even after installing a larger wheel and tire package commonly found on F150 trucks like mine. It was only after the oil change on April 1st by Dignity Star Tire that my truck started having problems. Thankfully, the catastrophic engine damage occurred on April 3rd while I was still in town, caused by the engine parts not being lubricated by oil. The timeline of the damage is not a coincidence, as suggested. My suspicions have been supported by *** and the technicians at Five Star Ford.
