I purchased this product Universal Pro in 2004. I have been able to update the product to the latest versions for the last 2 year until now. I called Susteen and spoke with there Technical department and the man there told me that I only had 6 months to update the software. I disputed the information he gave me so he directed me to there Customer service department. I spoke with a woman there and she told me that the software can be updated for a year. I explained to her that I have been a customer since 2003 and have been able to update until now. She just said, “I can’t help you”, and that was the end of the call. I found only the following information so far for the Licensing before the install that indicates the service may end.
SUSTEEN does not warrant that: (ii) the operation of the Software will be uninterrupted or error free
However, on there web site they conveniently have a new entry in there Support Center about this issue.

Regardless of Susteens New Policy, I think that not being able to update your product renders the software useless. I cannot even get my Motorola v551 connected anymore so what good is the software. I think the consumer should able to update for the current phone that they have. I do not need to have updates for every phone they support. The consumer should be able to choose and change there phone to get the support and updates needed to use the software they purchased and owned. I think that older customers prior to this new policy made just as of April of this year should be able to update the software to at least the version that existed before the policy was made. Any new versions I think should be a new purchase. I understand that support for the ever changing phone industry is hard and costly. However, at this time I will have to boycott Susteen and there products and not recommend them to anyone.

And all these years later... the same problem is still there!
I have been having a problem with data buffer overrun when attempting to download my email messages. Susteen / Data Pilot had me download a new version to address the problem. When I attempted to install the update, it would not accept my serial number. Now I can not use ANY version. I even tried to reinstall the original CD and it will not recognise the serial number that came with it.
I have been trying for several months to resolve this problem but no one at Susteen will return my calls nor reply to my emails. This software will not work at all now and this company just ignores the problem!
