As someone who values open dialogue and diverse opinions, I was disappointed by my experience with Daily Kos. The platform seemed to lack tolerance for differing viewpoints, leading to censorship and biased moderation. It felt more like an echo chamber than a forum for healthy debate. Additionally, the challenges in unsubscribing from their emails left a negative impression. While I appreciate their focus on liberal politics, I believe there is room for improvement in fostering a more inclusive and respectful community.

I just started yesterday. Today they won't let my submissions be uploaded. I'm an Independent so I feel I'm also being banned w/o being told. I do not swear, use slang, name call people or the other ridiculous immature behavior we find on political forums.
I share my honest thoughts and opinions.

I read blogs from both the Red and Blue sides to get a balance.

Some posts on each are utter garbage - but reading both gives insight.

Kos is no better or worse - but I have found their information - particularly the insights and narrative into the Trump presidency - not only useful but endlessly entertaining.

Keeps me informed on all 50 states, sometimes crass, but always fair in evaluations, enjoy getting it every day.

For everyone crying about censorship and the 1st amendment, those protections are from the Govt. Not private businesses or platforms. Otherwise Faux News would have to start telling the truth and the Democrats points of views as well.

That's why they criticize Daily KOS and write all these negative posts. Why do they believe the gibberish from FOX news and Trump's relentless barrage of lies? It's simple: Because they can't think for themselves -- they lack basic intelligence and the ability to reason. The problem is that you can't fix stupid, so I just glance over their ludicrous posts and laugh.

Yes it's a liberal blog site, yes most of the contributors have a bias. But this site has many contributors with a variety of sources, points of view and interesting, well written and thought out articles. It does polls too. I enjoy finding out that there are still die-hard liberals like me out there who have reached the same conclusions I have and also reading articles by those who I don't agree with but challenge some of my beliefs! It's a place where real people can express what's on their minds!

I spent several years being a part of the Daily Kos newsgroup. But a major fallout with a troll forced me to really say goodbye to DK for good.

It began a month back when news came out that Bob Barker, the world's most greatest host of The Price is Right, has passed away and I want to post a tribute to him on the DK site which has a lot of potpourri of news and views from around the world, including celebrity news. Over the years I was a member of the site since 2017, I saw other people posting news about the passing of famous celebrities from band members to movie stars that got excellent reactions as a result. So since they post such things on the forum site, I thought it was OK for me to post a tribute to Bob Barker on the site. So I wrote a short article containing videos and Xweets that send out the best condolences and tributes to the one and only Bob Barker and invited a lot of people over to share memories of meeting Bob in person or watching him doing TPIR on TV while home sick from school.

Well to make the long story short, I unexpectedly ended up seeing people who obviously never saw the show at all come along and post links to gossip sites that have gossipy articles about Bob and his alleged scandalous relationship with his models during the 90s that put me off so badly that I regretfully deleted the article and post X/Twitter tributes to Bob in a daily evening open thread.

Only to wind up get into an argument with a potential troll who not only wrote an article of her own about Bob's alleged scandals right after I deleted my own article from the site, with the title mostly written in all caps, she also accused me of ignoring and denying Bob's alleged scandals while I really wasn't. I am very much aware of Bob's scandalous relationship with the TPIR models to which I cannot deny, but she believed I was. I told her flat out that I wasn't ignorant of it, but she didn't listen to me. We went back and forth for a little bit until I told her that I wanted to end the argument this instant, but she kept right on going until I exclaimed to her "Never Mind!" before writing another article of my own explaining to everyone on the site what's going on and why I ended up deleting the article before shutting everything down and went to bed after midnight.

Thankfully several people on the site became aware of this and understood what's going on with the troll and apologized to me about what happened and told me they looked at what I wrote and saw there's nothing wrong with it and I didn't do anything wrong and advised me not to feed the trolls by engaging in them lest I end up stooping down to their level and get beaten by them. Heh. Easy for them to say.

So the next day, I went back to the site and tried once more to explain to everyone what's going on. The troll came back still believing me to be in denial. I told her that's it's obvious she never watched the show and is not a true fan of it and tried to tell her why I deleted the article but she wouldn't listen. So I told her to stop trolling me and end the discussion. She did, but not before she started to accuse me of trying to silence her, telling me that this is a public forum site which contains articles and opinion that we disagree over. Apparently she's not aware that I've already know about this site for a long time. Heck! I've been a part of that site since 2017 for crying out loud!

So I got up and went out to unwind for a few hours. When I came back and got back on the site, I became incensed to find one of the posts flagged for calling the user a troll out of anger and frustration over what we've argued over. That was the last straw. I logged out, deleted all the passwords to the site, and left without telling anyone, lest they come over and beg me to come back to the site and stay.

It pains me that this site The Daily Kos doesn't have an option of deleting one's account, nor does it have the option of editing the comments or deleting them when you made a mistake or inadvertently said something you wish you've never said, which is funny. There has been times when I left other forum sites without telling anyone and never came back and it never bothered me one bit until I got into the DK site in 2017 in an effort to find some real news sources concerning the previous president when he first starting to mess around in the WH. When I signed up for an account on the site for the first time, I ended up occasionally in trouble with the site due to it being so sensitive to how people like myself react to certain situations that they'll just flag my comment in a heartbeat when they see something about my comments that are allegedly in violation to their rules of the site like making threats against those who engage in animal cruelty or make slandering remarks that I wasn't aware of until they brought it up.

Look. I tried to be in good standard to the DK site, engaging in friendly conversations and partake in discussions about news reports, community news, and gossip about animals, social, politics, music, anything that comes to mind. But a few times I ran into problems with them over a simple misunderstanding that I got upset over and had to come back to the site apologize and make up over after spending time in 12-24 hour DK jail for such rash comments I unwittingly made.

This time the ordeal over a huge misunderstanding about Bob Barker not only made me sorry I posted the Bob Barker tribute articles on the site, it also pushed me beyond the limit of what I can or can't handle on the site. So unable to take it anymore, I quit. I just left the site for good with no intention of coming back for another game of mudslinging with the trolls.

And that's the whole story.

I gotta say, I've been reading Daily Kos for a while now and while some of the stuff they put out is pretty interesting, I gotta say I'm pretty ticked off about the fact that they won't let me add my two cents in the comments section. Like, what's the point of having a comments section if you're just gonna censor people who don't agree with you? That's some serious BS if you ask me. And it's not just about my own personal feelings, it's about the First Amendment, you know? Like, if we can't speak our minds, then what kind of country are we living in?

Honestly, I'm starting to think that Daily Kos isn't even a legitimate source of news. I mean, who knows if any of the stuff they're reporting is even real? And if they're censoring people who don't agree with them, then how can we trust anything they say? It's like they're guilty of the very thing they're accusing other people of.

And to top it all off, they never even bothered to respond to my questions about why I was censored. Like, what kind of customer service is that? It's just bad business sense if you ask me. But I guess they don't care about losing one more reader. They probably have enough supporters to keep them afloat.

Anyway, I'm done with Daily Kos. I'm unsubscribing and finding a new source of news that actually values free speech.

That's not how you build a healthy community. And it's not just me, either - I've seen plenty of other people complaining about the same thing. It's like the mods are playing favorites or something.

Honestly, it's starting to feel like Daily Kos is just another tool of the mainstream media, trying to push their own agenda and silence anyone who doesn't fall in line. But if the mods keep censoring people left and right, that's never going to happen.

So yeah, I'm pretty disappointed in Daily Kos right now. I think they need to take a long, hard look at their moderation policies and figure out a way to make sure everyone's voices are heard. Because if they don't, they're just going to keep driving people away. And that's not good for anyone.

As someone who is not American, I am not entirely sure if this is something to be impressed by or not. While I do understand the basics of American politics, I cannot fully comprehend the emotions that American people feel when the words "progressive liberal" are used. However, from my subjective viewpoint in California, I have noticed that people on both sides of the political spectrum get extremely heated and polarized over almost any political or economic matter. They take it all personally, and it often leads to custard-pie fights, leaving me as an unimpressed onlooker, wondering whether I should laugh or cry.

I gotta say, I was pretty excited to check out Daily Kos. As a liberal myself, I was hoping to find a community of like-minded folks to chat with and share ideas. Unfortunately, my experience was less than stellar.

Don't get me wrong, there are some good people on there. Most of the users have been around for a while and seem pretty knowledgeable and intelligent. But there are definitely some bad apples in the bunch.

For starters, there are these groups within the group that tend to ignore and patronize new users. And if you happen to use a phrase that some of the more sensitive users don't like, they'll jump all over you and completely ignore the rest of your well-researched and entertaining article.

And then there are the "Liberal Stinkers" - you know the type. They seem to live to be insulted and see racism in everything. It's exhausting.

But the worst part is the total jerks. I mean, come on. We're all here to have a good time and share ideas, right? But these guys just want to tear everyone down and make themselves feel superior. It's a real shame.

Overall, I'd say about 80% of the users on Daily Kos are good people. But you'll never get to know them because the other 20% are so loud and obnoxious. And the site itself is pretty worthless - it's just a way for the owner to generate advertising revenue.

So, if you're looking for a liberal oasis, I'd say keep looking. Daily Kos is more like a childish, petty, non-sensical little corner of the universe filled with attention [censored]s and virtue signalers. It's enough to make you want to puke.

The website is poorly run, with little proactive and responsible moderation. Democrats who express opinions that are outside the scope of what the owner and a certain group of users believe is acceptable for a Democrat are immediately swarmed with insults and called names like "shills," "rightwing," "libertarians," and so on. By flagging those who don't fit their narrow definition of what it means to be a Democrat, they get those voices banned immediately. This kind of behavior is not acceptable in any community, let alone a politically liberal or progressive website.

As a flaming liberal, I believe that censuring differing and critical voices, especially those from within, is not a liberal position. It is authoritarian and unhealthy for any community. The censuring of diverse voices of even other Democrats has become so incessant that I now have doubts as to whether the site is even what it claims to be. It appears to me that what it really is is a way to make money for the owner. Other people do all the writing at no cost to him, and he makes money from the site, while at the same time promoting himself in liberal/Democratic circles so that he has access to even more influence, and thereby, more economic opportunity. Now that I've reached that conclusion, I feel like I've been had. I don't read the site anymore because I won't lend my support to a con artist.

I ain't got no problem with a website havin' a "slant" - every site's got one, ya read it or ya don't - but the issue with DailyKos ain't the slant. It's the site's proto-fascism in demandin' absolute adherence to a particular set of ideas (and as a prof of political science I ain't usin' the term "fascism" lightly). DailyKos says it don't remove posts, but it does worse - it gives "trusted" users complete power to flag and censor comments, and it takes just two such flags to remove yer comment. This means that no deviation from what these users consider the "correct" one, even a "friendly amendment," is allowed. As a result of this abdication of responsibility by the editors, a few narrow-minded ideologues are free to act as gatekeepers to stifle democratic discussion.

I discovered this the hard way: like another person commentin' here, I offered my firsts comment (polite, no unprofessional language, just callin' for caution on the Russia question) and was promptly trashed and insulted by a string of childish nasty responses callin' me a bot, a "kamikazi drone strike," etc. Worse, the very first reply "flagged" my comment for deletion and it was then "hidden" along with the nasty replies so my point was effectively censored. As someone who is regularly trashed for bein' too "liberal" I found this astoundin'! All a reader has to do to remove a view s/he don't like is flag it? How convenient! And my effort to reach the editors to protest came to nothin'.

Aside from the damage to any democratic ethos, DailyKos only reinforces stereotypes about progressive politics rather than breakin' them down. I've found some info from its mail lists useful, which I'll miss, but I don't think this kind of nasty groupthink should be encouraged so I will unsubscribe and encourage others to do the same.

I've been keeping an eye on Daily Kos comments for a while now, and I finally decided to sign up today. I gave some "recommended stars" to some comments that I agreed with, and then I made some comments of my own. I'm a senior citizen, and I don't consider myself a "Bernie Bro" by any means. I pointed out that there were some similarities between Trump and Biden that made me feel uneasy, and I also expressed my desire for real change instead of just the same old status quo.

Unfortunately, I was quickly removed from the site and have not been allowed to reply or comment since. It seems like Daily Kos is biased and controlling the narrative while pretending to have open discussions. I've heard that the corporate head of KOS is endorsing Biden, which makes me think that this site is nothing but a centrist/corporate/DNC type of thing with just a tiny bit of mildly pro-Bernie / worried about Biden comments.

I would advise anyone to stay away from this site! It's all phony and staged, and it's impossible to unsubscribe. I've tried to unsubscribe many times in the past, but they always ignore my requests. As a result, I still have tons of nasty comments coming in saying how spiteful Bernie Sanders' supporters are for not voting for Biden just to get rid of Trump. There are also some glaringly false comments suggesting that Sanders voted for the Iraq War just like Biden (which he did not), and you can't correct them.

It's okay for people to call me all sorts of terrible things in their comments, but it's not okay for me to explain why Bernie Sanders is the better choice and more electable than Biden by far. Something is really wrong with that, and it's un-American. I'm still receiving comments in my inbox saying that I'm a "Russian troll" straight from Moscow, and I can't even respond to them! This is especially painful for me because my grandparents left Eastern Europe in the early 1900s and faced considerable hardship to begin a life in America.

In conclusion, I would not recommend Daily Kos to anyone. It's a biased and controlling site that doesn't allow for open discussions or dissenting opinions. If you're looking for a place to express your views and engage in meaningful conversations, you're better off looking elsewhere.

When I read the other comments I found that they were just as comparable in opinion as mine. Why was a comment regarding "Thinking" so horrible to punish me? This is ridiculous. Not that I need Daily Kos since there are a plethora of other sites that I can access.

The FBI has a site for internet crimes. Punishing me for a comment regarding Free Speech should be illegal. Petty rules and regulations & so-called Ad hominem remarks Daily Kos employees and subscribers seem to be to allowed to voice their opinions freely.

I get the DailyKos newsletter and sometimes I sign their petitions, which is cool. But their website where people can comment on articles is totally unfair and they censor any opinion that's not like theirs, even if you don't use bad words or say anything mean. The people who run the site won't even delete my account when I asked them to. I stopped getting their newsletter and I don't want anything to do with them anymore. They're garbage.

Daily Kos is a website that's trying to do what other advocacy groups like MoveOn.org, Avaaz, National Resources Defense Council, and Sierra Club have been doing for years. They're trying to take over some of the same causes and issues that these groups have been working on for a long time. But I'm worried that Daily Kos might end up crowding out these other organizations that have already proven themselves to be highly credible and successful.

I think it's important to stick with the advocacy groups that we know we can trust. These established organizations have a track record of success and have been fighting for important causes for years. They've built up a lot of expertise and experience, and they know how to get things done.

So if you're looking for an advocacy group to support, I would recommend sticking with the tried and true organizations like MoveOn.org, Avaaz, National Resources Defense Council, and Sierra Club. These groups have already proven themselves to be effective and trustworthy, and they have a long history of fighting for important causes.

In my opinion, Daily Kos is still a relatively new player in the advocacy world, and they haven't yet proven themselves to be as effective or trustworthy as some of the more established organizations. While it's always good to have more voices and more people fighting for important causes, I think it's important to be cautious and stick with the groups that we know we can trust.

I gotta say, I've been a regular reader of Daily Kos for a while now, but lately I've been feeling pretty disappointed. Seems like the founder is really pushing hard for Hillary Clinton, and it's starting to feel like the site is less about open discussion and more about pushing a certain agenda.

So yeah, I think I might start looking for another website to get my news and opinions from. Daily Kos just feels too biased these days, like they're trying to feed me a certain narrative instead of letting me make up my own mind.

I stumbled upon Daily Kos while browsing through Google search results and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. The recent article about Fake News was a real eye-opener. As someone who has listened to conservative talk radio personality Laura Ingraham, I can say that I am well-versed in conservative views. However, I must admit that the article on Daily Kos was a real hatchet job, in a good way.

Now, before you start thinking that I am a hardcore conservative, let me tell you that I was a Bill Clinton fan, an avid CNN viewer, and even voted for liberal Trudeau in Canada. However, I must say that the Democrats and many on CNN have lost their minds and civility (not Anderson, Fareed or Armanpour). It's important to note that the Clinton foundation's influence peddling got the Dems to stay home and not vote. So, Daily Kos, you are part of the swamp and fake news!

Despite my reservations about the site's political leanings, I must say that Daily Kos is a great source of information. The articles are well-written and informative, and the site is easy to navigate. I particularly enjoy the fact that the site covers a wide range of topics, from politics to entertainment.

The news articles on Daily Kos are usually pretty good, but sometimes they miss important events. The diaries, on the other hand, are often not as good. I used to hang out at Firedog Lake for years, but when it closed down, I had to find a new place to go. Unfortunately, the only alternative was DailyKos. Some of the other commenters there just don't seem to get what I'm saying, and if I make a point that they don't agree with, the moderators are quick to ban me.
