This company has been taking $1000 "security deposits" from contractors, designers & architects since summer of 2009 but they have not produced the lead generating program that they have promised. It appears that they may be out of business now. I have been trying to get my money refunded since October 2009 and they have never responded other than telling me "they are working on it". I enlisted their local BBB to assist and they had no luck either. Ironically, they are still advertising and offering a sign-up for new contractors. Please do not fall into their trap! This business is corrupt!

I just received a call from Contractors.com the girl wanted me to sigh up right there and then I asked how much was the leads she said only 28$ which sound great but I know better so while she was on the phone I looked them up thank god I did they seem like they took a lot of money from people. I have spent a yr in looking for the best lead generators if your needing home improvement leads go to QuinStreet.com..I LOVE THE LEADS its about 50 to 60 per lead they the homeowner always answer and if you do get a bad lead they will credit your acct right there and then..ask for Shey..oh the best part you can start with only 200 if you want.

I just signed up last month and so far I got good conversion from the leads they had given to me. Barbie Mitchel told me to try out their program since they has just changed it. I was hesitant at first because of the reviews I had read, but she told me that the only way for me to see if what she is saying is correct is for me to give the program a shot. Since there are no contracts, I set up an account with her and before I even reach my 3rd week, I requested her to increase my weekly budget. I am happy to be a part of this awesome company.

Got scammed by contractor.com/ One Planet ops. I do not recommend these guys. All they do is take your money. Their newest scam is to offer insurance in order to be able to work with them and that they will provide leads (contracts) for you. They give you exaggerated figures of what you will be making while working with them. First they'll tell you all they need is the a down payment on the insurance. Once you pay $200+ dollars they will tell you that they will need to verify the payment. Then they'll get back to you and say that they need an additional payment so that you can qualify for an advance payment option (to get paid in advance). You tell them that you don't want to get paid in advance and just want to start working. They then tell you, that they need that money before they can proceed any further. You then ask them for a refund but they will tell you that you need to pay $65 in order to get a refund. These guys are the scum of the earth.

I got a call and she asked me if I replaced tile.
I told her that we did, and that we would look at the job and give them a price. She sent me an email and it wad weird, as I had to click a link to get the info. Not clicking a link, not in this day & age, and certainly not from a company I have never heard of, and she didn't say anything about contractors.com when she called me. That alone made me suspect.
That is why I am here. Following my gut.

Thanks for posting the warning!

I just got a call from Julie Downing (#[protected]) claiming to be from Contractors.com and following up on my inquiry into contractors for a bathroom remodel. Aside from the fact that I don't recall going to their website, or even hearing about it, I had already selected my contractor several weeks ago.

I believe I have found my self to have fallen for the trickery. You all are correct something is very fishy... I signed up Friday evening and was sent 6 prospective leads which all said that they had not requested a contractor. Terrible scam to run on the hardworking contractor.

I am sorry. I almost fell for one before, but something in my gut told me something was fishy.
So, I always tell them I am super busy and please email me their info. Then, I research them.
This lady never told me she was with contractors.com...didn't find that out until i got the email.
It's sad that they do stuff like that. Damn scammers.

I have been with contractors.com for 3 months and have yet to get a paying job even though they have charged me over $1000 for leads that where no good. Here are some of the thing I heard from the customer...if the phone number was even good.
1. We rent so we are not looking for a contractor.
2. Someone tel-marketed me and told me I could win free home repairs and now that they got my info tons of contractors are calling me.
3. I have my roof installed months ago.
Its just a down right scam and the leads are horrible.

This company continues to pull the same scam, don't do it. They say they'll bill your card for every 3 leads then send you 15 leads on one day at the end of your billing cycle. Then when the leads are no good they'll offer you replacement but no credit. Fighting them through the credit card company is time consuming and not always productive. I received 41 leads and set one appointment at her reluctance no less, and then she cancelled the day before anyway. The leads that I was able to contact had no idea how I had obtained their information. There were leads for apartments, condos where they weren't responsible for the maintenance and one guy twice whose mother swore he hadn't lived there for an extended period of time. Save yourself some hassle and avoid this company.

This is a scam and all contractors should look at the reviews before signing up for any lead generating service. I hate to say it, but it seems that they have found a niche market where they can continue to rip people off and nobody cares.

you are correct i got burned also, they then converted my $1000 to new leads that were crap . I did get some leads but most leads were not contactable or were renters . when i applied for credit for these leads they ignored me, contractors.com said they were sorry the person that was managing my account did not work there any more so they could not find what leads is was supposed to get credit for, but they could sell me some new ones !
I told them no problem i have email time stamped copies of all correspondence for lead credits, they said sure forward them and i will get credit . 1 year still no credit . but this lady still calls me to buy more leads . shes tougher than a used car salesman . burn me one shame on you, burn me twice well that's not going to happen contractors.com

The folks at Contractors.com are scam artists! Please do not be fooled as we were! We signed up after they offered to waive the monthly fee. Debra Fraenza assured us they were waiving it, because they had a need for our services in our specific region. We were to be charged a one time account activation fee of $25. Fair enough. Then, we were to be billed each Tuesday, one week behind, to be sure we had time to work the lead. Con artist Debra stated we would actually have a grace period of 30 days to return a bad lead without being charged. Not one hour after signing up, we were happy to receive our first lead. We called, no answer. Not unusual. The second lead came about 2 hours later. No answer, it happens. The third lead came about an hour after that. I called, was hung up on, so I tried again, assuming it was a bad connection. I left a detailed message. Remember, these people asked us to call them, because they need our services.. The third lead called back, asked us to stop calling as she was not interested in any of our services. She was upset. Obviously, this lead was a fraud. To top it off, we were charged that very same day for all 3 leads. We called the next day as soon as we realized it. I spoke with our "customer service rep" Marcie Flynn. She did not say a word in their defense, which just confirms our suspicions that we had been had.
DO NOT BELIEVE THEM! THEY WILL SAY ANYTHING!THEY WILL ONLY TAKE PAYMENT IN CC FORM-DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM! THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE SCAM! THEY WILL PROVIDE LEADS, BUT THEY ARE FAKE!

If YOU sign up for this service( if that's what you call it ) your crazy lots of false promises with job leads before they get your money and they are a ghost town after they bang your bank acct. I knew better to give them money but the smooth talking dave finley got the best of me. don't let this happen to you.

This Company would send bogus leads completely made up, for instance...Name: Cherry Limeaide... Address: Sonic Avenue...666-666-FREE...and then dispute the validity of the lead...then they would send a credit which would be bogus then a credit for the credit and then a credit for the credited credit ...ad nauseum... and they are steadily billing for each credit...Then you couldn't get them on the phone! Patricia Nava, Marcie Flynn, Jennifer Brockhaus, Christopher Kimble, represent a scam, a thieving machine making the difficult life of a contractor worse...All of them should be in Jail from the owners to these [censored] representatives who KNOW THEY ARE RIPPING PEOPLE OFF! This cost of doing business ( getting ripped off ) gets passed on to real customers eventually because companies have to recoup advertising losses! TO CONSUMERS...you can thank fraudulent companies like Contractors.com/ReplyI Inc.com for your estimates being about 10 to 15% higher...

This is the worst company out of all the web lead companies...beware!

Just got this: "Hi, this is Janet (call originated from [protected]) I'm looking for a residential contractor, please call me back at [protected].."

Just got a call again. (My number is on the "Do not call list")

Janet called again yesterday and when I said I'd like to research all a little first she countered that they just bought contractors.com a year ago bla bla.

I told them I'm not interested, there is enough not so good info about their operations. I told her I am not interested in prepaying for "leads". I mentioned, how about, if a lead you give me becomes conclusive and a valid contract is signed with a client, then I pay a beforehand hereto agreed referral fee to you.

Ooops! That didn’t go well with darling Janet.

She got a bit more aggressive offering me she'll waive the $ 99 sign up as well as the monthly lead fees. I replied: so, you do have upfront fees, what if your leads lead to nothing?

Now things got testy and the real hard sales talk attitude of her kicked in!
She'll sign me up right now at no cost or monthly fees... etc.
I replied ... and all you need is a credit card from me, right?

Yaiks!

Now she got nasty...falling short of calling me a looser she offered me some numbers of contractors I can call to verify. I replied to her saying: how would I know who these people really are? How about I research that myself!?

Now her hard sales talk kicked into hyper drive almost sort of "threatening" me that she will give all leads of home owners who are looking for a contractor to start remodeling in June/July to others...

I ended the conversation telling her I know how hard sales talk work, been there done that. Thanks, but no thanks.

Boo hoo..! No sales commission money for darling Janet!

SOME FACTS:
Registrant (domain: contractors.com) btw since 1999
Reply! Inc
12667 Alcosta Blvd STE 200
San Ramon, CA 94583

Now Google: Reply! Inc

(Online lead seller)

"The Reply.com marketplace allows businesses to buy and sell online leads and enhanced clicks. ... ©2011 Reply!, Inc"

You will find some truth about this operation for example BBB
http://www.bbb.org/greater-san-francisco/busi ... -ramon-ca-59178

Nothing less than a wallet vacuum business. “Give me your money and don't bother us.”
In other words "legalized fraud" or the Double Agent acting "W***e and Pimp" at the same time.
etc etc

All they are interested in is selling you “leads” thus they got your money.
And you? What will you get?

The worst part about the American Bath Factory - Dream Works - becomes Contractors.com was a total scam from the very first. When I was called a 'liar' by Mr. Rick, telling me I did not meet him at a trade show in Las Vegas, and that I was NOT introduced with L.O'M as being the first Contractors signed to the program. They were such liars, I even have a copy of the RFP they were shopping AFTER they had signed everyone up and taken their money. Contractors.com NEVER sent me a lead, and we've been doing relatively well for years using Service Magic. Water under the bridge, but lesson learned!

I agree I just received a phone call from a woman representing them. She said that she has many leads and that they are $55.00 a piece regadless if I get the job or not. I told her, sorry, I can't pay for something unless I know I have the job for sure and I it sounds more like gambling to me.

It cant be done glad that i checked it out before I did a big mistake

Contractors.com got me to sign up and after a week and no quality leads, as they promised, charged my account $1100.00. Needless to say I have cancelled them and disputed the charges with my credit card company. These guys are ruthless liars. They are tied into Reply.com, a lead generating company for real estate which also looks like a big scam. I hope people do their research before signing up with these companies.

I have been running tests on godaddy.com advertisers and third party co-conspirators. this week found-crownboilers.com-(Brand Jacking and cyber squatting)>boilers.411usacontractors.com>contractors.com- filled out form-in three days-contractors plumbing called me that I knew-each had payed 1000.00 dollars to 2500.00 dollars-plus 50 dollars per lead-leadicious LLC-was collecting 50 dollars from each for lead! on brand jacked domain! Crown Boilers Corp.-CrownBoiler.com
Other sub-sites:hvac.sleekremodeler.com- no crown boilers-other units
shopzilla.com- only honest site -had crown boilers
I tested 20 other sites that were cyber squatting/brand jacking-godaddy.com registrants-most with false names and false registrants. but almost all registers doing same thing. When you call-registrer just changes registrant and their address. If you post- cyber squatters domains in comments at circleid.com and embarass the registrar in a week register will take down the domains but ban you from circleid.com

(swallow hard) Mia Culpa! I did it, I took the bait and got scammed. At this point, I'm telling myself that this was an expensive education. The Contractors.com program was packaged and produced so different than the other lead programs. It's different alright. Where as with the others (Service Magic, etc.) you get the "tire kickers" that are "fishing", with Contractors.com you get... NONE!

You are right, I was one of the contractors that got sucked into there scam with American Bath Factory and Dream Bath.
Their (Contractors.com) CEO Kurt is a big time scam artist. His current BS, is he's touring the country promoting this FREE lead program that is producing ZERO. He would make a great used car salesman. Don't believe his BS.
