To whom it may concerned
I am very disgusted with the service from VW and the quality of the product.
Upon buying my first vehicle ever, I was told by my fiancé that VW was a good car. But I'm sure that compliment was not meant for VW Barons - Edwin swales.
The vehicle I bought was not up to be standards (if there are even any standards from VW)
From inception when dealing with the sales person who was very helpful during the sale but he showed absolute disregard and neglect after the deal was done and I was experiencing issues with the product he sold me. I was told and an 80 point check was done I would like to know what this includes.
I was also told that the car had been for an AA test
The vehicle I bought had 7900 kilometres on the clock. I was told it was a 2017 demo model.
Within the first 3 months of driving my vehicle I experienced problems with the radio, where the volume nob kept skipping and the numbers were not selecting.
Then the aircon stopped working. Shouldn't this have been checked in the 80 point check?
When I had taken the car back for the aircon to be filled, I mentioned a knocking noise when I tried to reverse. They could not find the fault but I still hear the noise up until today.
I drove at my inconvenience and at my own expense without a radio for over 2 -3 weeks. I also had to call frequently for updates as I was not being informed of the progress. Further to this it is out my way to keep driving to the dealership and I had to do this on numerous occasions already prior to these issues.
When I eventually got the radio back, after 2 weeks the issues started again and now a new problem occurred where both the volume and search nob stopped working. I then took the radio back where they fixed it again and got it back, after 2 weeks exactly.
When I went back to fetch the radio for the second time, my fiancé noticed rust between the windscreen and the body. NB (a very narrow space on the right hand side)
He reported this when fetching the radio. A VW employee just decided to scrape the paint off with something sharp just to get rid of the brown residue which was rust and give me back the vehicle. I feel because I am a woman maybe they thought I was stupid and won't know what they did was ethically wrong. I reported this to basil Govender and Vigen who both said they will vouch for what their employee had done
This brought my frustration levels up tremendously as I am paying a lot of money and I take care of my vehicle and somebody just goes and scratches it who was supposed to look resolve the issue. I assumed all VW employees are highly skilled and would have attended to the matter in a more professional manner.
After all the drama I now experience an added issue about the radio, where the LCD now does not work. It gets stuck and I have proof on video footage of this problem. This vehicle has cost me so much already and it has given me a lot of stress and grief. The constant driving up and down taking, time out of MY busy day to keep calling and following up, because even the consultants don't do their jobs and give feedback. If I do call one person says they can't help me it's not their job, then transfers me, receptionist takes messages then employees don't call me back 2 or 3 days pass and I must call back again. I can't take the anxiety that this dealership is putting me through.
I have come to a conclusion that I don't want this car any longer or any dealings with VW. I don't even own the car for a period of 12 months yet and I have experienced countless number of issues with the product.
I have investigated and found that once a vehicle picks up rust it will keep coming back and to my knowledge cannot understand how and why the vehicle isn't even a year old and has picked up rust. (My vehicle parks in a undercover parking with security control through day and at night in my complex which is also security controlled and I have no pets and no kids to damage my vehicle, yet VW has given something not up to standard)
I want the car to be taken back by VW and would like to be replaced with a suitable value for what is promised by VW
I myself work in the service industry and I have been very patient with the staff at Barron's but I have realised that good nature gets taken advantage of and this could cost the company to lose money and future sales. I am very upset and cannot find any words to express my regret in purchasing a vehicle from VW as I feel robbed.
