Valley Animal Hospital Will manipulate your emotions for your pet for profit

Normally when you have a report with a vet, they will go out of their way for you, right? I have a doctorate and in my spare time, I am involved in animal rescue in my community. I believe it is imperative that warnings are put out about businesses that are harmful. Initially I met the staff at Valley Animal Hospital in Tucson because they called me at 8pm at night asking if I had an animal that could donate blood to a sick animal. Immediately I got the impression that they were very good, and made them my vet. However, every time I have gone to regular vet appointments, they say they care but there are tale tale signs of the opposite. I should have realized it before, as who would have a separate billing and money department upstairs for a small VET OFFICE? So because they were a regular vet, I felt I should call one day when one of my rescues had a UTI. On the phone they were cordial and I explained that I had a bank fraud and everything was frozen. Everyone that knows me is aware that I am a psychologist, a PhD with medical training and do not have problems paying bills, and had never had an issue with this place. However, as a courtesy I called to explain that my animal was ill and needed his regular vet but that my accts were frozen due to ID theft. On the phone they stated they of course would treat him. It is stressful for my animal to travel, although I took him anyway as it was warranted. Once I got there, everything was money money money. They outright in the waiting room stated that we had “financial issues”, which is not true at all. Even after correcting them, they continued it, stating they could contact some rescue place to get funds. PEOPLE! MY ACCOUNT WAS ONLY FROZEN BECAUSE I DO HAVE MONEY AND THERE WAS A FRAUD! So the vet, Alverez, a snobby guy who says he would like to treat any animal but “cannot because of their dept upstairs” explains that they will not treat my animal regardless of our history and with the knowledge that my bank account was frozen because of a fraud. Before that happened, there had been a shift change. They had thrown my animal in his bag against a door and not told us, so the whole time we thought he was getting treatment, he had been thrown aside. With a simple UTI, they want to do 450 dollars worth of tests. It was like taking a car to a rip off mechanic. THESE PEOPLE PLAY ON OTHER’S LOVE FOR THEIR ANIMALS, MAKING EMERGENCIES OUT OF SIMPLE AILMENTS. THEY DO NOT HONOR WHAT THEY SAY ON THE PHONE. THEY STRESS ANIMALS UNNECESSARILY IN OUR EXPERIENCE. I WANT TO WRITE AS A WARNING. I WOULD NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE WITH A PORCH SLUG. They additionally had a snobby recommendation to not administer any meds at home, when I had correctly given an antibiotic, the vet ended up prescribing the same one, except my calculation of the dose was right. Theirs was not. We ended up purchasing the meds and walking out. Because as I had already explained that we could not pay on the spot only because of a bank fraud and frozen accts, they want us to fill out an against med advice form “for medical reasons”. This place plays on people’s emotions for their pets to over charge and obviously mistreat. It took us hours to settle our animal down. We had thought he had been tranquilized based on his behavior. He had a hx of abuse as he was a rescue. These people traumatized him unnecessarily and should not say they will treat an animal on the phone and then not do it. That is bad business. Moreover, you do not exclaim in front of others that there are “financial issues” with someone who simply had a bank fraud. Of course we have no problem paying. Good vets extend services to their regulars. Just like your regular doctor—-they do not call you in ea time, order unnecessary tests, not follow through with what they say on the phone, etc. BE AWARE OF THIS PLACE AND WHATEVER YOU DO, IT WOULD BE BETTER TO GO TO THE HUMANE SOCIETY WITH YOUR ANIMAL THAN THIS OVERLY PRICED PLACE. SHAME ON THESE PROFESSIONALS FOR THIS. They are what makes any profession look terrible and eventually cause governmental restraints placed on companies since the do not already operate within ethical parameters. Shame on them for even being in that field if they do not care more than this for animals!
