3rd Party Auto Ins Claim Denial :
Their adjuster Kevin Rheingruber Kevin.rheingruber@sentry.com denied our claim 97A387863 based on his prejudice against women and race.
He completely ignored the police report and driver at fault (his client) interview thru a police bodycam.

Claim department. Wendy (the adjuster) seems to only care about the companies bottom line and not in my healthcare. Matt (the claims director)
I was injured on the job, I have yet to receive adequate treatment for my injuries.
They have tried twice now to delay treatment. With no explanation from my adjuster at all. When I asked about it she simply replied "I'm not going to get into this with you" I asked to speak to her supervisor and he was no further help. He said he will not change my adjuster even though it's obvious that she cares none st all about my healthcare. I am at the mercy of this company and they are shady at best. I can barely move around at all due to the pain I am in. I have asked to be connected with further up admin individuals and was told no good bye by Matt. If this is how the director looks at injured people how can I expect proper care at all from this company. Their doctor lifted certain restrictions and had prescriptions filled before even examining me. People do not matter to sentry st all. Only the companies matter, I personally work for a 100% employee owned company, so I should mean just as much. I need someone from higher up to contact me regarding this issue. All healthcare should come first. The Dr they sent me too was angry with me from the beginning because he had to see me. I recieved a phone call from a woman on an Ohio cell phone 14 hours before my appointment( people are supposed to give 24 hr notice) to tell me I have an appointment at a later date( delaying my healthcare) when i mentioned having an appointment in the morning the woman had no clue what i was talking about and informed me to ask my adjuster, who happened to be ignoring me at the time. I have requested to see another doctor who may actually pay attention to me and not just the insurance company, hopefully one that takes there oath seriously. I was told i could work light duty with a back brace but wasn't given a brace at all. My next complaint is with the medical board and the better business bureau.
difficulty in assessing my claims for an accident in colorado
Dear Complaints Department,
I want to complaint about my difficulty in assessing my claims and getting my hospital bills paid after an accident I had in Colorado when I was on holiday. I was sent to the hospital immediately and was told to come back when I felt any further pain since I was 10 months pregnant when the incident happened. After a couple of days I had some back pain and decided to visit the hospital again for further checks.
Now the agent am dealing with is refusing to consider my second visit because he doesn't think I visited the second time or for whatever reason because of the accident. I live in the UK and the bills that was accrued have been going through the mail to my address in the US but the offer the agent is making may not even pay for all the bills and even compensate me for my personal injuries. I think that I may be forced to seek a legal representation in the US because as a pregnant woman who had that accident I should not be going through that stress to claim my personal injury as well as get my bills paid. I am escalating this issue to get it resolved as soon as possible. I had the accident in August, 2017 and I think the agent is not been helpful in resolving the issues to be able to settle the issue.
Please find below some email exchanged with the agent and hope this is settled as soon as possible. As an insurance company you have all the logistics to double check about my second visit and arrange for all bills to be paid including my personal injury claims.
Thanks and counting on your cooperation

terrible service!
Those looking for Term life insurance beware of Sentry! I don't have enough time to write all of the reasons why, but let's just say that they are really nice when their selling their policies, but after that forget about it. You'll NEVER be able to get ahold of your agent... And if you have to change anything on your policy, you'll grow old and die before you can get any service!
I am surrendering my policy... I can't stand the way they treat their customers.
Shame on you Sentry! Shame all over and around you MARK HACKLE (President, Sentry Life Insurance Company!
Bad faith claim
Sentry Insurance insured hit our van with semi causing 12, 000 damage and 7, 000 other damages and injuries. Offer 3040 to settle 12, 000 claim and 500 to settle 7, 000 claim. They make up amounts with absolutely nothing to back up what they are saying. I have asked for documentation for every excuse they come up with to not pay a fair settlement and they refuse to give it to me. They definitely operate under bad faith procedures and unfair settlement practices. They do not answer phones and when I asked to speak with their lawyer, they say they dont have one. I research their company to find class action lawsuits and other unfair business practices. After they offered the embarrassing settlement and took rental away because they say they can leaving us with no vehicle, they had the gall to send letter telling us to send them a key and title. They are a real piece of work. I would be so embarrassed and ashamed to admit I had any association with Sentry Insurance.
delay of ins. claim
Had a truck driver back into my truck at a truck stop in Wisconsin on April 28th. The drivers insurance is with Sentry Select Ins., I have not been contacted by the claim adjuster, almost been ten days now. I hope this is not pair for the course with all the claims that they receive. My semi is my only source of income, sure hope they get on the ball.
The DUI dude hit my car and two other vehicles on the parking street, it had been 1 month and 1 week, Sentry/Viking Insurance asked me to talk to my own insurance and responsible for my own towing. They said the limits had been reach and need to make more calls to get all the info.
If you are a bad guys, buy this insurance.
If you are a good guys, stay a way from this company
I agree 100%. their semi hit our van causing 12, 000 damage and they offered 3040 to go towards vehicle and we have 7, 000 in other damages and they offered 350. They are the worst company I have ever seen. I am assuming you had to file suit. Did you get anywhere? They claim to have back up documents supporting info they lie about, but never produce it. I just filed a complaint in WI and IN where the accident occurred. I am going to have to sue the poor people who hired these idiots to give them good insurance and I feel really bad for them. I would be embarrassed to say I had any association with Sentry Insurance.
very unfair practices
Anyone reading reviews and thinking about getting insurance with Sentry really ought to think twice. I can guarantee they will screw you. they collect your insurance premiums but when it comes to something that will benefit you, they will scam you. Having been a customer of over 20 years under their payback policy, I only received 10 years of paybacks because of their trumped up "policies" When they decided to no longer do car insurance, my final 5 years of paybacks went right down the toilet just because they said thats the way it is. Do your self and others a big favor and shop around for insurance and please do read the reviews.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
all that comes out their mouths are lies !
Sentry is a horrible insurance company being that I filed my claim on March 25 2022 but because I switched my insurance to them earlier that day they have been giving me the blues every time I call they tell me something different I've heard about 10 different reasons why yhey are taking forever with my claim now Susan claimed representive 2 is telling me that my filed have been transfered to somebody else take sure that I was covered it don't matter if I get insurance at 5:01 and get in a accident at 5:02 they still have to cover my car and pay for the repairs so truly lost as to why they are taking so long this has become the worst experience I have had it's my first and I pray after dealing with sentry this is my last time dealing with a insurance company and like somebody else said when u ate signing up they are so nice but when something happens they act like you owe them and become very nasty. And rude and hard to get in touch with they NEVER andwe they phone unless they want you to do some thing like take pi tires for them but as soon as u submitt them they stop answering the phone my file have been transfered to a supervisor and 2 different claims reps
I dont know if you ended up getting a resolution in the matter but if you research Sentry Insurance there is a class action lawsuit that is pending with Cohen and Malad [protected]. I hope you nail these crooks! their insured total my van 12, 000 damage and other damages in excess 7, 000 and wont pay but 3040 towards claim. I reported to WI Dept of Ins and IN dept of Ins where accident occurred and I am waiting on response from them. Somebody needs to stop this bad faith crap from happening to others! I am so embarrassed for the insured to have to even admit they have an association with Sentry Insurance!
This is a third world company. Do not buy the coverage. You cannot work with or get any customer service from Stupid and that is what the adjusters are. STUPID.
If you know someone is abusing drugs how do you report them?
Bad Faith claim handling practices
Sentry Insurance uses bad faith tactics is administering their Workers Compensation Claims. I was injured on the job on October 14, 2009, and treated in the Emergency Room twice resulting from a head injury. I was off work for two months and diagnosised with Posttraumatic brain injury syndrome with headaches, dizziness, tinnitus, cognitive dysfunction, and vestibular dysfunction. My claim was assigned to claims adjuster Bob Ballard at Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, WI.
Mr. Ballard took my initial report of injury and then assigned my case to Constance (Connie) Carter a nurse case manager at the Alaris Group to manage my medical treatment. Connie began playing doctor by deciding what evaluations I needed. She would not approve any treatment that was recommended always stating she needed more information from the doctor before approving treatment. She then went on to complicate the system by stating the doctors where not returning her calls, and even contacting different doctor office locations where they didnt have a record or knowledge of me. The Neurologist that they referred me to recommended referrals to several specialists to evaluate my visual problems, hearing problems, and cognitive difficulties.
When I became more involved by contacting the treatment facilities myself I learned that Connie was delaying approving referrals because she didnt understand what treatment I would be receiving or why they wanted to run certain tests. I made several phone calls, and sent many emails to the nurse case manger, and Mr. Ballard expressing my need for treatment, and dissatisfaction. I started to complain about their time handling and getting referrals completed so I started emailing them to get things more in writing. I was suffering at home during these delays without help. My own healthcare would not cover my injuries stating this is a work related injury.
On Feb 8, 2010, I received a letter from Sentry insurance stated that they were disputing entitlement of Indemnity and medical benefits because: Carrier admits liability for scalp laceration (cut or scrape) and contusion (bump to head) only. No other body parts or conditions are accepted. ALL of my medical records from onset support symptoms related to a Post Concussion Syndrome with symptoms captioned above, and I have no prior medical history related to any of my symptoms.
They also provided my contact information to the Division of Workers Compensation office in my area if I wished to appeal, which I did that same day.
Work Comp scheduled a Designated Doctor (DD) evaluation to determine my MMI (Maximum Medical Improvement) rating. I brought all of my medical records to the appointment, and thank goodness I did as Work Comp did not send any of my medical records or tests to the DD as they were supposed to under Labor Code Section 408.0041. Just another tactic to delay and limit the DD from reviewing my medical history. No penalty for them of course for not sending my records. There is however a $10, 000 to me if I dont attend the exam. I attempted to delay the exam so all my records could be sent, but they advised me the exam had to be completed within 3 weeks, and the DD is a traveling doctor who would not be back in my area within that time frame.
There is no regulation that prevents the Work Compensation Company from practicing and handling claims in bad faith like this. They can decide to limit what they will accept to cover without any medical or legal basis which prevented me from receiving necessary care and treatment. Sentry Insurance practice in administering claims in bad faith is a practice to limit treatment and care, and to further delay care in hopes that I will either improve and go away, or just go away without appealing their erroneous claims position.
I appealed to the Texas Workers Compensation board and they scheduled another state doctors exam to determine the extent of my injuries. Its now May 25, 2010, and my DD exam was just completed. The DD agreed with my Neurologist initial exam and supported my need for further evaluations and treatment. The DD laughed at what Sentry Insurance sent me in a denial letter on what they were going to cover, and stated he will correct this in his report, which he did.
Again there are no penaltys or regulations that prevent the Worker Compensation Company from deciding to limit their liability and adjust my claim in complete malicious and utter bad faith.
With you as well. Don't want to go into details but had a work injury (concussion) and my employer was insured through Sentry. About two months into my claim they started denying everything, then a hack AME doctor came along and decided I was recovered and imagining my symptoms and Sentry jumped on his "patient is fully recovered" BS to cut off my TTD in Feb. (this year) while I still couldn't work and would've become homeless as I had no income to pay rent from Feb. to May until CA EDD pitched in... Still can't work, settled with Sentry out of court for less thank 1K because the AME would doom any trial attempts... Still can't work, in the process of applying for federal disability. Yes, I did have a WC lawyer (who managed to get me some treatment Sentry flat-out denied). This insurance company is so, so sleazy. If there's a class action lawsuit against Sentry for WC stuff I'd definitely put my name on it.
I too was injured at work on August 27, 2011. My case was handled by Bryson Botts of Sentry Ins. Mr. Botts was rude but did communicate, in the beginning, that is. Three years ago I became aware that Sentry had not paid the hospital bill for my treatment. I contacted Mr. Botts and he was rude, crude, and ill-bred, he informed me he would not consider paying this bill unless he received a bill from the hospital. I explained the bill was sent at the time of service and that the hospital had now been closed since 2012 but a collection agency had taken over collecting the bill. Mr. Botts made it clear he would not be paying this bill and suggested I contact an attorney and have the attorney call him. I have no money for an attorney, I tried talking to the collection agency who told me they had talked to Mr. Botts and he denied the claim was a workers comp injury. Now three years later I am being sued by this agency and no one at Sentry will return my calls or emails. I do have limited information from the original claim and intend to fight this to the bitter end. Sentry Ins. selects its demonic minions well and Mr. Bryson Botts is the lead demon.
Bob Ballard is a SHARK! I was injured a few years ago and was assigned Mr. Ballard. I was off work for two weeks and asked him when I could expect Time Loss check. He said he would be assigning a Nurse Case Manager to my claim, boy was that a bunch of crap! She too tried to play doctor, asking my doctor to release me to light duty when no light duty existed where i worked. I finally disallowed her attending my doctor visits. This was a great move on my part as she had no idea what was going on until days later. Mr. Ballard sent me a letter asking my to attend an independent medical exam. I did some reading about the IME doctor on the Internet prior to my visit, and decided to have my union shop steward and another union rep along for my medical evaluation. I later received a letter from Mr. Ballard asking L&I to close my claim! My physician told me that I suffered from a bulging disk and closure at that point was unthinkable. It was then that my doctor suggested a very good L&I attorney in my city. I made an appointment and it was, "GAME ON"! Mr. Ballard fought every inch of the way, blocking every treatment and benefit due me. Thankfully, I got the surgery i needed and began to recover very well. Several months later my claim was closed, but I was beginning to feel worse. I went to another surgeon and found that the disk that I had surgery on had collapsed. Within weeks the claim was reopened and my attorney and Mr. Ballard were battling once again! After a year of negotiation and game playing on the part of Mr. Ballard my attorney settled for a six digit monetary figure. My advise if you are assigned Mr. Ballard as an L&I claim manager? Try to ask for a different one; if that does not work, hire an attorney. Many Christians believe Satan and the new world order are coming soon; I've got news for you, Satan is alive and well practicing at Sentry in Stevens Pointe, WI. Yes, Bob Ballard is most certainly Satan reincarnate! Best of luck. Keep up the good work Ballard!
I agree 100% with these comments about Sentry. The claims adjuster for my work comp injury was nice, and not too bad to work with, for the most part. I have a current injury to my neck causing pain down my L arm & hand, from sitting at a desk 90% of my day in the wrong position. I had an ergonomics assessment done and that had 8 things listed that needed to be changed. The company I worked for, only fixed 3 of them. About a month later, I was taken off work by the doctor because I could not continue doing my job without crying in pain. After several doctor & specialist visits, and an MRI & X-ray of my neck, it was discovered that the curvature of my cervical spine is rotated left and tipping to the left (gee-that's the side I held the phone with my shoulder) and there are 3 bulging discs pinching my nerves and putting pressure on my spinal cord. A nurse case manager began coming to my doctor visits with me, and later to the chiropractor, because things weren't progressing as fast as Sentry wanted. Well, that's because I spend 3 months in physical therapy with them working on my L arm and hand, when that wasn't what I needed. The chiropractor has been the only help, thus far. However, since the neck is a slow thing to heal, especially when it's pulled to the same position for a year and a half, Sentry decided I needed to see an Independent Medical Examiner. Independent, my rear end! They are paid by Sentry to go over my case and deem if it is work related or not. Well, of course, they said it's not, and Sentry dropped my claim. So now I have 2 attorneys that are working on putting everything together and gathering statements from the doctors, all of which are on-board with my case. They said I have a very strong case and should get medical bills and treatment paid. However, there is no pain and suffering for work comp cases. I have been out of work since mid-January and in pain since all of this started back in July 2013. Where is the compensation for that? Or the fact that I may never snowmobile or jog again, or anything else that causes me to bounce those vertebrae? Work comp only covers what affects your work, not your whole life. That is really unfair, and it's unfair that insurance companies can pay an IME to lie in their favor. If there ever is a class action suit, I would also be prepared to fight with all of you that have been screwed by this company.
I'm going to post this in hopes that if there is ever a class action suit brought, I will be included, because I feel that Sentry outwardly ripped me off.
Since the early 90's, I had Sentry auto insurance, and somewhere in the late 90's, I moved to homeowners to them so I would get the multiple lines of business discount. Now, everyone in the US knows about the recent two years of wildfires here in Colorado; first, the Waldo Canyon fire in 2012, and last year the Black Forest fire. You also need to know that I was on Sentry's "Payback" policy for auto. If you're not familiar with it, it basically states that if you have no claims paid on your behalf, you get a check for 1/2 of the premiums you paid 5 years earlier - so you have to be with them and accident free for six years, then you get back half of what you paid in year 1 with them. It's like a 'savings account' of sorts, and when I would get back my Payback check, I applied it to my most current auto insurance bill.
After the Black Forest fire, which had absolutely zero chance of getting to me because of open lands that are used for farming and ranching and have literally nothing burnable on them, I received a letter stating Sentry would not renew my homeowners because of "fire hazard". I contacted them and asked them to reconsider, because, if I didn't have my homeowners with them, I would also have to move my auto coverage to the new insurer to get the discount and make it affordable. The rep assured me that they sympathized, but the software they used said my property was in a danger zone - a total lie. I believe that they were tired of paying the Payback check, and took an easy out that let them keep nearly $6000 that would have been paid back to me over the next 5 years under their Payback policy, and that they should be made to pay that back, as they have no right to keep it.
I have been fighting them for over ten years now and though U have had both my knees replaced they are still denying that they were at fault in any way. They have failed to provided equipment prescribed by the doctor, put stop payments on my checks, failed to pay mileage and have had a bad attitude from the beginning. They have caused me to lose everything and live as a hermit. They are domestic terrorists and that is it.
I was hurt at work and out for three or so months, possible permanent scar tissue on muscle now. My Sentry agent was Jessica Cox. She was available at first then stopped returning my calls and ignored my emails. Called and spoke to a different agent who brushed me off, I demanded explanation because my car payment lapsed and I was about to be homeless. Agent said, "Look she had deaths in the family we aren't telling a lot of people but you need to be more understanding and patient." I snapped and said I was understanding but my livelyhood was on the line and I wanted to speak to a supervisor. Supervisor was put on the phone and apologized and promised Jessica would call me back the very next day. I never heard back from Jessica and two days later my claim was denied by her.
RETALIATION AND CORRUPT HANDLING AND HORRIBLE WORK ETHIC. I was basically chased back in to work that I am having pain at while waiting for the trial date three months from now. Really hope these people feel the pain they put others through... they deserve it.
The company I work for is crookedt so I knew the workers comp insurance Carrier was crooked also a bunch of crooks an unscrupulous characters, they hire shade tree doctors who are on their payroll. Some of these ### would call the Pope a liar. I've had a lawyer and I'm going to fight their ### tooth and nail! I'd love to meet some of these nurse managers in a dark alley! Stay tuned to these posts the next class action should be starting shortly!
This is pathetic. How many times can they get away with this. I get my checks every 6 weeks. It should be weekly. I have a lawyer but they still do this. I have so much anger when I think about how they have treated me.
I was injured on the job twice and have had to deal with Sentry Workers Comp twice. The first time I was ignorant of any laws concerning workers comp so I was unaware that I could go anywhere I wanted to go for treatment. I went to the doctors and physical therapy that they sent me to. I have no complaints about the doctors or the facility that I went to for PT. My complaint is about Sentry. After having my surgery, I was told that I should be off for 3 to 6 months for recovery. Sentry and my employer forced me back after a little over a month and a half. I was to perform light duty of which there wasn't any. I went back to performing my duties except for the really strenuous stuff. I always felt that my arm did not get a chance to heal properly and it hurts me to this very day. The second injury was to the exact opposite arm. From day one, I have had to fight with Sentry about my injury. I was told that either I have the surgery done or they would no longer help me with my injury. Then after the surgery, I have been fighting with them over my work comp payments. I get paid weekly from my employer regularly but after the first surgery, Sentry started sending me my payments biweekly which put a strain on me financially. This second time, they have decided to pay me weekly but my checks are not sent out regularly. I sit waiting up to at least 2 weeks sometimes for my money. The checks however are in weekly sequence from the period ending from one week to the next but the checks come whenever. I pay close attention to the postmarked date, that is how I know they are screwing me over. I have a lawyer but they are still screwing me over. I am the only income coming into my home now since my husband was laid off and it is rough not having steady money. Sentry should not be allowed to continue they way that they handle claims. They should not be allowed to bully anyone into doing what they, Sentry, wants them to do. This time around I have gone through three claims adjusters because I told them off. I do not think that I or anyone else who has a legitimate claim should be treated this way. Too bad that it is a pain in the butt to get a class action lawsuit going against a company.
High rates and unfair claims
I have had Sentry Insurance for over 10 years and all they do is continue to raise my rates and tell me they will not pay for claims.
Ruid customer service reps and constant agent turn over. Very out spoken managent. Check aroud there are way BETTER companies out there! DO NOT GET SCREW LIKE WE DID!
Been waiting 2 months for approval or denial for foot surgery. An injury that occurred at work and is going to be getting worse if it's not fixed.
Sentry is an evil company with back-stabbing management. Never ever purchase insurance from this company. This is an evil company that is not on your side or ethical. Employees are saps. Employees are potatoe farmer's childen. Anyone with an IQ greater than 100 is not welcome at Sentry.
Sentry blows!
I'm dealing with them right now and they are literally the worst insurance company ever. Their insured hit my car and took of my driver's side mirror while I was in the house asleep (it happened at 7 am on a Friday. March 3rd). I tried calling the adjuster that day- no answer. I had to work at noon, so I didn't get the chance to call them after the first time. I went to my insurance company on Monday and got all the specific information from them and then proceeded to call the adjuster again. She was extremely rude and condescending, saying things like "we've been waiting for you to get a hold of us" when I had literally called them thirty minutes after their office opened THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT and got no answer. I finally get an email on the 7th that the claim was received, but with no other information. Took in my car to get an estimate the next day, the 8th. Total came out to around 3500 dollars. The auto body shop faxed the estimated first thing the next morning (I had taken my car in around 3:30, so I didn't expect it to get sent off that day.). It wasn't until the 12th that they got back to me and got a check mailed out, which I received on the 19th. She put in a request for a rental, which I scheduled to be picked up on the 15th. I double checked that everything was okay, spoke with a lady named Sherry that said I should be good to get everything picked up and that my car was NOT drivable.
Just today, the 22nd, I get a call from the insurance company saying that they wont pay for the days that I've had the rental, as the car wasn't in the shop. I demand her supervisor. She refuses and I hang up out of frustration.
I call back and get the secretary, who puts me through to the supervisor's answering machine. He calls me back about an hour later, which I miss because I was out running errands. I call him back when I get home. I calmly explain that I've been being mistreated the entire time and he proceeds to yell at me, tell me that I was supposed to do a temporary fix on my car, and that it's my fault that I didn't know. I pull up the emails as I'm talking to them and read off the exact words that the adjuster gave me. Not once did she say I had to fix it, she just insisted over and over that it was drivable, which was refuted by the other lady that I talked to. He then called me a liar until I brought up the fact that I have never filed a claim before and that I didn't know what I was doing. He continued to insist that I was lying about her never having said I needed to repair my car. Then he gave fake condolences, but insisted that he couldn't do anything. He then told me that the adjuster was coming into his office and that he'd talk to her about it all. That was an hour ago and I've heard nothing from him. I wasn't even told how to proceed with the rental. I can't afford to pay for one myself and if we weren't trying to get out of our awful living situation, I'd have just paid my insurance company's deductable to not have to deal with this.
Please never use Sentry whom is connected with American Bankers Home Insurance! We filled out a claim for damages to our mobile home not a dime was paid. This company is rotten to the core! We now have to pay to get the home taken out and get demolished because of them! I have reported them to the BBB. They can sure take your money every month but when we needed them they let us down big time! Just a warning to anyone looking looking for mobile home insurance! Stay clear! Dorothy Boring
I can't imagine there won't be some sort of class action suit concerning Sentry's abrupt cancellation of their Payback Policy. It takes 5 years of paying a HIGHER premium policy to get into that program. Many people probably don't know the premium for that policy was higher.
Personally, I never had any claims for the many years I was with them, and I always received my Payback checks when due. But, as time went on & rates increased, the only way I benefited was because my payback checks were based on when I had two cars (I now have one). When my 'two-car paybacks' were completed, there was hardly any benefit left at all.
But, once again, the rate that you paid for the Payback Policy was much HIGHER than the rate for the same coverage with them for a REGULAR policy; they would tell you that themselves if you asked. You did NOT pay the same rate as someone who was not on the Payback Policy. Had the rates been the same, then this would not be an issue. But, for Sentry to take that higher rate, promise you a payback check if you had no claims, then tell you they're discontinuing that policy, but KEEPING the extra money you paid them - there is no justification for that. The very least they should do is to refund the cost to the policyholder of the difference between a regular policy & the Payback policy for up to 5 years of your past payments. At least that would be fair. It's not like they've filed for bankruptcy (have they?) - They're still in business.
What if you went to the grocery store, and bought an identical gallon of milk as the person behind you, but, paid double on the basis of receiving a rebate after 5 years of loyal purchasing from that store... Then, 5 years later they say, 'sorry, we've changed our minds, there will not be a rebate. But, we're keeping your money.'
It's absurd to think the Insurance Industry's watchdog group would allow this to happen unpunished.
I had a similar accident with one of Sentry's insured as detted53. The son of the person they insure was driving the vehicle and he ran a stop sign and I T-boned him. When we were both in the same ambulance going to the hospital he told one of the EMT's that this was his 3rd accident, he was 19yo. I am currently working through negotiations with my attorney and Sentry's attorney, James Hamilton. They originally tried saying that I was a certain percentage at fault, I don't remember the exact percent they used, then when they settled with my vehicle they settled at the highest book value. Now they are saying they won't settle at policy limits because I have not been continuing therapy for my back and neck pain, hard to continue treatment when you can't pay the people providing the treatment. Since reading this post I am going to find a new attorney and file suit against Sentry's insured. Thanks to everyone that has shared their experiences with Sentry and helped me decide there is no trying to settle with this poor company. I hope every one who has shared has their issues taken care of and I will try and keep this up to date with my case.
I have had Sentry Payback auto insurance for over 20 years and now I receive a letter that they are no longer going to do auto or Home owner insurance. What it means to me is they are skipping out on 3200 Dollars as part of the payback policy for the next 4 years.
When I called customer service all i got was sorry but I am SOL and my policy will be cancelled when the next renewal is due and I am out the payback money. Such nice business practices from a company that has gladly taken my premium payments and never paid a claim because of me
I am dealing with Sentry right now and that driver went through a stop sign when he hit my car, he did not have a driver's license on him, and it was not his car. I was claiming medical injury from the accident which I sent the Sentry claimant my medical information from the hospital several times and the claim agent claims she has never received them. I have emailed, faxed, and snail mailed this information and still, I get letters every 2 weeks since last February 2012, when I had my accident, saying I need to send them my medical expenses from the hospital. Where did that medical paperwork go that I sent 4 times? The last straw was this week when I receive a medical form to fill out requesting my full medical history from my whole life, not just from the accident alone. I took this to an attorney and he told me this is absolutely against HIPPA regulations as I had thought as well. Now Sentry wants to settle the bills from the hospital for $750 and wanted me to agree by phone, I refused and said I want that agreement in writing mailed to me. It is a pitiful amount concerning my medical expenses were higher but I will not sign any medical form giving them full access to my entire medical history since birth.
I hope you win your court case. I would like to know how things worked out for you.
Sentry Uninsurance is a fraud. I plan on taking my claim viral on you-tube, facebook and twitter in a couple of weeks. I have some video to shoot first. My vehicle was totaled by one of their insured. They are offering me 40% of what I can replace my vehicle with for a comparable one. They are accepting liability. That is not even in question. I feel that I should be exactly back where I was prior to the accident as I was at "no fault" and should be made whole. I don't care what they say, I should be made whole to pre-accident level.
