We moved to a new home in Saratoga Springs, UT after working very hard to make that happen. After three days our pipes upstairs were all clogged because a big piece of tile was left in one of the pipes. A huge work for the plumbers who needed to cut open two holes to retrieve the tile. After one week from that, at the first big rain, we got leaks in the...

Oakwood Homes Nightmare

We purchased an Oakwood mobile home for our retirement home. Big mistake. It's a piece of junk. I have contacted the president of the company to no avail. At first they promised to make things right and even to sell it for us. Never happened. They use inferior everything in this house. No upgrades are available. Every counter in this house is scratched and cheap. The crown molding is covered in putty or something and has turned yellow which you can't get off due to it being so cheap. Don't buy Oakwood homes. They don't stand behind what they sell.

We bought and Oakwood Homes this year and really love it. We wanted to spend about $70, 000 and couldn't find new homes in that price range, so we decided to look at mobile homes. Glad we did, because we got a good value... we added corian counters to our home and a fireplace. The Oakwood store we bought from came out and service our warranty item quickly (a cabinet door was loose), and haven't had much else...

I'm not sure what people expect from a mobile home, but we got what we wanted. New home, low price!

Oakwood Homes Just don't deal with them

Let me tell you those outside building you can buy already built are better than a doublewide we got from Oakwood. At the time they knew we need a home, but that is what we wanted a home not a falling apart piece of junk. They kept telling first oh you can get this big house, than we ended up with a small doublewide that looks like kids put it together with staples. The walls are like tissue paper and all the fixtures are falling off the walls, no studs behind them. You can stand next to the windows and feel the cold air pouring in not to mention the heat in summer. I could go on and on. Just don't deal with them unless you have loads upon loads of money to fix up the mess of a home you get.

I'll try to keep this short. In a nutshell, back in June my wife and I were looking at purchasing a home from Oakwood Homes down in Fountain, CO. At this time the sales rep was Steve in Cumberland Green. Very good guy to deal with. Well so we put down a $1000 for a deposit on the home. We came across a snafu with the house meaning I was dealing with Oakwood's preferred business to do home audio installs. Worked with a gentleman more than 3 days going back and forth trying to figure a way to install my current theater system in the Oakwood home. The problem became that my system would not exactly fit in their basement. So, asked the sales supervisor (Michelle) to find out if they can accomodate my system some way so we could purchase the house. Went through all the credit stuff everything to buy this house. I was told by Michelle outside of the model home that we WOULD get our money back if in fact they could not accomodate my system. Its over 12k of a system so was NOT going to lose it. After a few days of trying to work something out, it was decided that they could not accomodate my system in the house. Which, is totally understandable. The problem becomes, I never received my $1000 deposit back. Steve told us it could take up to 6 weeks. STILL NOTHING. Its been freaking going on 9 weeks. My realtor has tried to contact them and nothing. I don't think Oakwood is about stealing from people but I'm seeing some crappy customer service. I HOPE that the head of Sales Javier sees this review because Oakwood reputation DOES NOT express stealing clients money so I want this resolved. So look me up in your contracts and you'll see who I am. Please don't steal from clients. This is not acceptable. Sorry for everyone if you're looking for a good review, I just can't give one atm. I hope someone @ Oakwood gets me my refund that I'm entitled too since it's MY MONEY. Thanks!

I purchased a new double wide and my family and I moved into it in June we discovered a water leak in August. They claimed it was from an improper install of a/c unit and came out to fix it. I informed them there was still a leak they finally came out in February and uncovered the leak and found black mold. This is something that should have been taken care of in August but they had to wait and have made numerous excuses as to why it wasn't fixed so now they get to replace most of the subfloor

We have been in our home little over a year now. Since we got in when the AC come on we smell a sewage smell in both of the bathroom. They came out and tried to fix it but the man that came out was so rude and blame the smell on our dogs and fish tank. And a year later we r still having this problem. I mean Trey his is the one that sold us the trailer and he was real nice. But this problem has went own long enough. It is harmful to smell so are they anyone out there that could help because there not going to.

I agree with these posts. My experience with Oakwood/Clayton homes in Eden, NC has been horrible. I believe the salesmen there will move on to be gatekeepers in hell after they retire because they have no souls to rip people off the way they do. And the homes themselves are poorly made and they company will not stand behind the warrenty. You think you are getting a good deal until 2 years down the road when you've spent half of what you paid for the home in repairs. Stay away from manufactured homes all together! They are not worth it!

I live in Wilkesboro NC and have been trying to buy a home for a year now and two months into it they told me I was approved and finally we're down to the final steps just waiting on the title for the land to come when the manager that has tried his best to squeeze us out of every penny he could to fatten his wallet tells the construction guy he wont do the deal unless he does it by his price and he already agreed to the set price. He has done things like this the whole year and I have already sunk 1200.00 dollars into this deal with fees and etc. He also sold another consumer a piece of property in a developement that would not accept mobile homes and ended up in court over the situation. Don't deal with James at Oakwood Homes in Wilkesboro Nc.

My Oakwood home is a piece of crap! It will not last the amount of time it was financed for. The roof leaks, the AC unit they installed leaked and warped the floors, the windows are hard to open because they are all bowed, the guest bathroom toilet/plumbing leaked and the floor has to be replaced. The bathtubs cracked, EVERY single door knob in the house broke in addition to all of the faucets/fixtures. My linoleum in the kitchen and master bathroom is coming up at the edges. The walls are so cheap you can hang a picture without sinking massive screws into the walls then roll up some duck tape on the back of the picture "Just in Case", the kitchen drawers have all had to have their runners replaced, within 4 years I had to replace all of the kitchen appliances. I live in Arizona and it gets really tough paying electric bills between $400 and $530 each month because the "house" is so cheap! If you are considering purchasing an Oakwood home DON'T!
