Lowes / Dishwasher / Maytag / overall disatisfaction
I purchased a Maytag dishwasher and an installment of same. The installment had a rebate offer of any dishwasher that cost $497.00 or more of which my purchase qualified.
When the installers came with the diswasher, it was discovered that the dishwasher was damaged. Another dishwasher was ordered from another store. I had taken a day off work to be at home when the installer came. With that said after a week another appointment was made to install the ordered dishwasher. I took more time off work to be there. When the replacement dishwasher was installed, it was discovered that the pump was broken when water went everywhere. Another dishwasher was at the store, so the installer went and got another one. Everything went fine after that. I had filled out the rebate offer after the intial purchase and mailed it the next day. Two days after the 3rd dishwasher was put in, I received a notice from Maytag that the dishwasher I had purchased did not qualify for the rebate. After calling the number on the notice, I was informed that it did indeed qualify and that the rebate would arrive in two to three weeks. I do want to say that the people at Lowes did call me on several occasions and did a good job of customer relations. On another complaint, I purchased a Whirlpool hot water heater from Lowes back in 2004. The water heater has a 12 year warrenty. The water heater started failing to heat a full tank of water 6 months ago. I have been going through Whirlpool over that 6 months to get parts replaced and have replaced 3 different components on the heater itself and it still is not heating a full 40 gallon tank. I am in the process now of getting a voucher to replace the heater after having to go through a professional plumber and lots of red tape. My overall complaint is not so much with Lowes as it is with the poor quality of the applinaces they sell. It is an ironic twist that I used to work at Lowes selling appliances part time around 5 years ago, so I know the ropes. I don't have any problems with the service at Lowes, nor did I have problems with the installers. I am however dissapointed with the quality of a lot of products this day and time.
