Are you thinking of installing custom sliding glass doors and other hurricane protection windows to comply with the latest Florida building code regulations in Florida? Is your building in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach? If you are an architect, designer, developer, building owner, contractor and distributor and you care about your customer relationships, be careful. If you are a homeowner, be even more careful. EGS International LLC manufactures poor quality sliding doors. When you install one of their doors, the painting on the frame starts bubbling up and peeling (see photo) and the aluminum frame starts getting exposed to the elements and rusts. I am a customer and I was a victim of this company after paying several thousand dollars for their junk. They offer a warranty on their doors, but they invent all kind of excuses for not honoring it. It must be a company's policy because there is not even a service department. They ask you to call again….. Then Gary Zack, the President, will tell you that it's your fault because you don’t clean the windows; one year later, Gary Zack will say that you should not have installed the window in an oceanfront property because EGS International LLC-manufactured doors are not fit for that purpose; another year later, he will tell you that he is running lab tests (in his lab…what a joke) to figure out why his doors do not perform…After 3 years, you give up. Other owners in my building had the same issue and gave up calling as well. The company’s owner, Robert LaViolette, uses most of his energy in marathons and does not seem to care about his customers either. Do me a favor, do not become a victim of this company. There are many other manufacturers of sliding glass doors in Florida!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I strongly disagree with the previous post, I’ve had EGS International product installed in my unit on the tenth floor in my Fort Lauderdale Condo facing the Ocean since 2007 and I had water on the track during a storm but again it’s a sliding glass door and I understand it’s NOT A SEALED product and I’ve asked other manufacturers and this process during a storm is normal function of a SLIDING DOOR impact resistant sliding glass door are mainly for protection. I hope that the previous complaint dated December 26 is not mistaking the Company name with ES sliding doors which is another manufacture. Again I’m happy with EGS INTERNATIONAL SLiding glass door and will recommended.
EGS has engineering design flaws and will flood your condo. Even if properly intalled EGS sliding doors will flood interior of home at winds of 70mph which is minimum wind speed in florida and other hurricane belt regions. Windwill stop water from draining outbto terrace thereby backing into condo. They were sold to replace accordian shutters however i never had a flood with the metal shutters. EGS needs to retro fit a flap over weeping holes to let water out while eliminating wind backup. Also testimonies state no leaks during hurricane.. Yes if “hurricane” was less than 70mph winds but most are above this.. read their spec on “winds above 70mph can cause flooding” .. this spec was not given to me until my flood and while it is sold in florida as “hurricane” impact doors i have yet to see ahurricane with winds less than 70mph.. what a scam and NOT TRANSPARENT... until after flood and you complain...

EGS International LLC is a manufacturer of the FINEST sliding glass doors in South Florida and has been for over twenty five years. Our products are installed in over fifty of the largest and tallest condominiums located directly on the beaches in South Florida. EGS International LLC is ISO certified for quality control and produces thousands of sliding glass doors every year. Our best reference is that there are no complaints, save for this one which in it's entirety is debatable.
A brief explanation of the events preceding this complaint; (1) aluminum vertical meeting stile showed some signs of paint bubbling. The defective meeting stile was replaced at no charge to the customer.
Regarding the ranting complaint from this customer; EGS has always relied on it's reputation and still does to this day. This disgruntled customer went out of her way to attempt unsuccessfully to besmirch the reputation of a very good company and it's principles.
