I'm an established patient with the Cleveland Clinic. Upon arriving I was willing to pay an amount that they refused to accept, and I didn't have an estimated amount. The estimated amount was uploaded into My Chart on yesterday 09/19/2022, assuming once I left. (Please see attachments) I traveled from South Carolina to Fort Lauderdale Florida. Due to my disability and I temporary stay with my family in South Carolina.
I asked for the director of Neurology and was told they were not available. I also asked for the director of Financial Services and was told none exist. I was told by the intake supervisor that financial services made the decision to turn me away, specifically the Financial Supervisor. I also noticed my appointment was completely deleted with no notations, and I need this for legal reasons.
It is appalling that financial services make decisions on if a patient can be seen by their medical provider based on how much they can pay, and I've made deposits before and was never turned away. I do believe that my civil rights/people with disabilities were violated, and I was being marginalized.
Desired outcome: I would like a document of why I was turned away once I arrived, they registered me into the system, and last night my appointment information was deleted.
