Dear Checkers Customer Care,
I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding a serious food-quality and safety issue involving a 2L cranberry juice product that I purchased at Checkers Hyper Eastgate.
Upon opening and inspecting the product, I discovered that the juice appeared to be rancid/spoiled. More seriously, there were visible foreign materials inside the bottle, including pieces of plastic and what appeared to be fruit skins or other unidentified material settled at the bottom of the bottle.
I find this extremely concerning, as this is a food product intended for human consumption. The presence of plastic inside a sealed beverage raises a serious food-safety and quality-control concern and is not something that should simply be dealt with as an ordinary product return.
I understand that Checkers may have a standard policy of offering customers a replacement product. However, I do not consider a replacement to be an adequate response to this particular complaint. I am requesting a full refund of the purchase price, as well as a formal investigation into how a product in this condition was made available for sale.
I would also like this complaint to be escalated to the appropriate quality-control and food-safety department and, where applicable, to the manufacturer. I request that the affected batch be investigated to establish whether other products from the same batch may also be contaminated or compromised.
I am retaining the product and its packaging as evidence and have photographs showing the condition of the juice and the foreign material found inside the bottle. I can provide these photographs, as well as the batch/expiry details and proof of purchase, upon request.
I would appreciate written confirmation that this complaint has been formally registered and investigated. Please also provide me with the outcome of the investigation and advise what corrective action will be taken.
I would like to make it clear that my concern is not merely about receiving a replacement bottle or recovering the money i spent. My concern is that a potentially unsafe food product containing foreign plastic material was sold to a customer and that this matter should be taken seriously from a consumer and food-safety perspective.
I trust that Checkers will treat this complaint with the seriousness it deserves and respond appropriately.
I look forward to receiving your written response.
Kind regards,
Julia
