I cancelled my contract with Cell C in November of 2020. I waited until the full 2 year term was over before doing so. In April of 2021 I tried to port my number to a different network provider. Nothing happened. I then received an account in May 2020, saying I owe money. The account was billed 6 months after I had cancelled the contract. They added that additional amount to my "account" for April immediately after I tried to port. I called and they advised that it was outstanding "contract" money. May cancellation wasn't done "timorously" and I had to pay an extra month, an amount of R219.01. I requested a cancellation letter.

From that date forward I asked about 7 people to send me cancellation letter confirming that same was cancelled. I never got one, only sms saying I had to make payment and enclosing banking details. I have now been advised, after demanding vehemently, by the customer care people, that they don't give this kind of letter, they just cancel and that's that.

Then I got a call from someone claiming to be from their "attorneys" SSDA - Shapiro Shaik Defries & Associates. They said I owed an amount of R7343.33 on a Cell C account.

I immediately contacted Cell C, whom confirmed that I owe R219.01 (extortion money to port my number I assume). In June I reluctantly made payment of the R219.01 as demanded by Cell C. Proof of account and payment attached.

SSDA call and sms me several times a week. I have had to block their numbers. They refuse to listen to what I have to say. Refuse to acknowledge that I've paid directly and refuse to accept that my account was only R219.01.

I e-mailed SSDA and requested they provide me with a statement indicating why they think I owe them R7343.33. They responded, and I quote: "Thank you for your email please be advised that the is cost and fees on the account and also the total amount of the contract which will also increase if is not paid." No statement attached. The most unprofessional thing I've ever encountered. Demanding payment but have no proof thereof.

I demanded a statement once again. 2 weeks later I got a call from someone who claimed to be from Cell C. She asked me why I requested a statement. Why in the hell would a person not request a statement when demanded to make payment. I can't understand how Cell C or SSDA operate. By law they must have valid invoices and accounts. I said that I never had an account in excess of R250.00 as I've only ever had the cheapest contracts and they were trying to get over R7000.00. I had called Cell C and requested an explanation. They said it was R219.01. I paid it. Nothing is due and owing. No explanation as to why I was expected to pay R7124.32 in addition to the R219.01 and without any evidence of why I owe this money.

Yester I was called and harassed again. No statement or explation as to why they want over R7000.00. I called Cell C once again and demanded an explanation. They said that I was now on a Zero balance and could not understand why they want over R7000.00 as it was only R219.01, she will send me a letter confirming that it is all paid up and transfer me to cancellation department for a letter saying that the contract is indeed cancelled so I may send same. She transferred me to an automated system to rate her service and then the call ended. I called back and got sent around to several people (none of which were from the cancellations department), the last of which blatantly said "we don't give confirmations cancellation. We just cancel." NICE, VERY PROFESSIONAL.

Am waiting for the letter confirming account is paid in full. It has not arrived, today despite being told that I would get it. However, I DID GET CALLS AND TEXT MESSSAGES FROM SSDA. Who refuse to listen to me, refuse to give statements and bombard me with text messages given the demand to pay the amount and banking details. I now, according to them, owe R77488.93. THIS COMPANY IS LITERALLY A CRIME!

Tried to Call C again, got the same rhetoric as yesterday, nothing resolved and each and every person I spoke to was from customer care and not a specific department that could help, only after asking them for the fifth or sixth time if they were in contracts or cancellations did they go "yes" I can help you. But did and say the same things as probably the last 30 people I've tried to talk since November last year.

When I put in a request to port my number SSDA HARASS ME EVEN WORSE THAN BEFORE! THIS BEHAVIOUR IS BECOMING TERRORISM.

DEMANDS:
1. I want SSDA to be gone. They are trying to extort money from me. They text and call all the time only ever demanding payment and proffer no explanation or proof of such payment. Their activities are criminal.

2. I want written confirmation from Cell C stating in unequivocal terms that the contract was cancelled in November 2020 and that there is a Zero balance on the account.

3. Cell C to port my number to vodacom as requested.

FAILING WHICH: urgent application will be made to the High Court for cessation of communications from SSDA, for SSDA to be investigated by the Law Society and for Cell C to provide the requested documentation clearing my name from all debts and, with immediate effect of the court order, to port my number to Vodacom.

I had the same problem so also with cell c.

I bought a phone on contract at first they forgot to rica the sim i got it back, the phone then only worked for a few hours after my training i took the phone back they told me they are going to send the phone in for repair but cant issue me with a temporary phone i told them i dont want the phone and that they should cancell my contract instead they took the phone in 2 weeks after that our branch closed down ever since then i have been receiving invoices and statments wich i ignored until i got handed over to ssda and started making payments only to ask myself am i really going to pay for a phone that i dont have so i stopped paying , but now im blacklisted because of this and with no stop trying to contact cell c hq they always just say they will come back to me with answers

I am shocked by the unprofessional service provided by cell C and the Shapiro Shaik defries and associates! I am being charges for an account which was canceled over a year ago. ! I am being harrassed on a daily basis for payment. I have tried on countless occasions to resolve this but nobody has had the decency to call me and offer an explanation or proof of why I am being billed ! All I get is phonecalls asking for payment. This is ridiculous! .
The best part is that as son as I voice my displeasure, they hang up the phone on me! Please call me and let's arrange a court date.
