We purchased a beautiful, sweet, chocolate point male from Jennifer Ward of Carolinas Dollz in September, ‘20 for breeding purposes. He was absolutely covered in fleas when we picked him up and we called several groomers for help. They couldn't get us in but said Dawn would do the trick. So we traumatized our 9 week old kitten (kittens should not go home until 12-16 weeks) with a bath as soon as we got him home. Not fun for any of us!

He had one of the most amazing personalities of any cat we've ever had and we loved him dearly. Sadly he passed away at barely 7 months old from lymphoma. He weighed five pounds and the tumor was the size of an apple. It entangled his large intestines, small intestines, pancreas, bile ducts and mesentery. He wasn't showing any symptoms other than seeming a little sad, maybe a bit lethargic on the Friday, February 12, 2021, we took him to the vet, and less than two days later, Sunday, February 14, 2021, Valentine's Day morning, at 9:20 am, he was dead. We were devastated!

Jennifer immediately tried to back out of the contract in three different ways. The first being that we hadn't gotten him to the vet for his first visit in the proper time allotted by the contract. I had to quote her own contract to her and tell her it says "72 business hours," not 72 hours, and we'd picked up our kitten on a Saturday afternoon and he was in our vet's office on Tuesday, certainly less than 72 business hours. The others were just as petty.

We were willing to wait years if necessary for another Chocolate Point male kitten and Jennifer agreed, until one day she agreed yet again and then 48 minutes later changed her mind and said we could take what she had at the moment, which wasn't what we'd paid for, could breed, wanted or needed.

I hired a lawyer to help ensure I got a kitten "of equal value." We tried everything possible to settle out of court, even being willing to take a kitten that wasn't the color we wanted and selling him to get our money back, as the contract stated that we wouldn't get any money back under any circumstances.

Unfortunately, we had to take Jennifer to small claims court in order to get her to honor the health guarantee of the contract. The judge found in our favor.

We loved our kitten very much and miss him desperately. We're very hurt that the situation turned out the way it did. Jennifer had been a friend, or so I thought, and turned defensive and hostile as soon as our kitten died, just when we needed her most.
