The myth about government grants : Be realistic about Startup financing
Great idea, no money and no investors. No problem? Think again.
Government grants (money) to start your business is a myth.
I think I know where the myth comes from: the www. Companies on the www only sell you a list of addresses to send applications to, nothing more. So, it isn't a straight lie; there is a list of addresses, but it's an exaggeration. Governments and foundations occasionally establish programs for stimulating special development goals. There are always larger social goals.
Think of it this way: How can a government give away business money except with a social purpose?
Government loans are much more common, meaning privileged loans for favored development programs. A lot of agencies will lend money for job creation and related goals. These loans are rarely easy to get, and you still need to meet the underlying goals of the government agencies that set them up.

Hi guys
I see some really good reviews of CanadaStartups.org and their platform seems promising for the price.
I spoke to them about helping me startup, with my business plan, the whole funding search, with pretty much everything and it seems the 300 bucks is nothing.
Do they provide as much support as it shows?
The 2 people I spoke to seem nice but it would be nice to know from somebody who has been a member.
So far more good and i haven't seen much bad other then a review here and there of what appears to be just angry customers who dont believe in the government.
Any suggests?
Want to get going asap if its worth it.
Did you get any response from this? I enrolled last week but I already have a business plan completed so the tools they offered are not much of value to me except I want their funding recommendations and help. Since then, I have not received any funding applications or recommendations. They do not want to do a refund. But I am not happy.
