dossett dental Tried to rip us off!

My girlfriend went for cleaning and exam at Dossett Dental in 2011. The dentist, a Korean lady named Susan Koo, said my girlfriend needed deep cleaning, a crown, and a bridge. She then sent my girlfriend out to talk with the office manager about the cost.

The office manager, a lady named Fariba Dadgostar, told her the deep cleaning would be $900. She then went on to tell her that she needed the deep cleaning because she had a gum infection and that her lower jaw would rot away if she did not get the deep cleaning. The dentist never mentioned she had a gum infection or anything about her lower jaw rotting away.

The photo included is of dentist Susan Koo
My girlfriend told her she just wanted the regular cleaning and exam and that was all. Fariba told her they would not do regular cleaning, only the deep cleaning for $900.

I could not believe what I was hearing; the office manager was making decisions regarding her medical treatment. This middle-eastern lady was not a dentist, not even a dental assistant, and here she was making medical decisions.

I then became very irritated at what I was hearing and asked Fariba if I could speak to the dentist. She said that I could not. I told her my girlfriend wanted just the regular cleaning. Fariba said they would only do the deep cleaning and refused to do the regular cleaning. We left the place in disgust.

About a week later we went to another dentist and this dentist told her she did not need deep cleaning at all and that she did not have a gum infection. They did the regular cleaning and exam and everything was fine.

I also spoke to my dentist about deep cleaning and he said it was rarely needed. I believe something should be done to stop this unethical practice and hope the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners does something.

I was really angry about what we had experienced at Dossett Dental as they were just trying to rip us off. I filed a compliant with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. A lady from their office called me and said she could not believe that they refused to do a regular cleaning.

They are investigating the matter at the time of this posting and apparently they have had numerous complaints against Dossett Dental. I would recommend everyone to avoid Dossett Dental.

I found this on the Better Business Bureau website:
On April 17, 2009 the State Board of Dental Examiners found that Kenneth Dossett, DDS, with license number 9584, improperly billed patients and issued a reprimand.

dossett dental Theft

I went to the Arapaho location this morning. Everyone was super friendly and over attentive especially since I told them I had a bad experience with the removal of my wisdom teeth. Funny thing is when I went to the reception area to pay when we were finished MONEY WAS MISSING FROM MY WALLET. I counted the money before my procedures, right in front of the lady that discusses costs and payments so I know for a fact I was robbed. The only time I was not in the room with my purse which contained the wallet which contained my money was when I went to the bathroom, which one of the assistants insisted I do before they started and he stood outside the bathroom door to direct me back to the room. Of course that seems a bit suspicious now but im really not sure who was involved, i just know $160 was taken from my wallet. They credited me the amount and said they would investigate it so I didn't call the police till I got home...I only called to ask if fingerprints could be collected off my wallet and they can't. Pretty much no point in filling a report especially since they covered the loss. Just warning others to b super careful

dossett dental Fraud Poor Service Unexperienced Dentist

This complaint is very very true and accurate. The comment proceeding the complaint however is not. I had a similar experience with Dossett Dental in Hurst. I found them on the insurance preferred listing and made a same day appointment as I had a very badly infected tooth in need of a root canal. When the dentist first came in I thought she seemed rather young (come to find out now she is young and only graduated dental school in late 2007.) She evaluated my mouth and came up with roughly around 10 grand in dental work she claimed needed to be done. Immediately came in some foreign lady who had a strong accent and was rather nice. She had me fill out some paperwork and explained it was for financing. In severe pain at the time I didnt think twice about it and signed the form. The dentist wanted to began the procedure that day even though I had always heard in the past that you never work on a tooth that is infected or absessed. She insisted on the procedure and claimed that with my face, neck and jaw completely swollen that she would need to drain the infection. She began by attempting to dedon my mouth. She explained that there would be 3 injections. Now the dentist I had prior to this dentist could give me a shot in my mouth and you would feel nothing more than a slight pressure sensation in your cheek. But this dentist hurt me so bad I was screaming bloody murder with tears pouring out of my eyes. After the second shot I said no way let me up you are not going to work on my mouth. With the needle in hand waiving it in front of my face she says "oh no you are not going to do this. Lay back down and let me finish" I screamed "oh yes I am get out of my face and let me up now" I was balling my eyes out in severe pain. Then the lady with the accent came along and tried to comfort me. "she said come back to morrow and I will pair you up with a different dentist. I walked to the front with her and she had some papers for me to sign. I looked down and there were two reciepts one for $1200 and one for $1800 that read sales reciept transaction at the top and she wanted me to sign them both. I questioned her and asked her what they were for. She said I got you approved for a care credit card for $3000 and these are the charge reciepts where I charged the card for the approval amount of $3000. I said I beg your pardon. She said the card company wouldnt approve you for $10000 which is what you need so I got approval for $3000. I said wait a second why would you charge the card for $3000 when I didnt have any work done today and the insurance company covers all buy $250 of a root canal anyways and I had planned on paying cash for it once the procedure was complete. She said I told you we were going to get you approved for financing you wasted my time. I said ma'am credit back this card for the full amount right now. She told me that it costs Dossett Dental $250 per credit application and I just cost them money. I said why would you charge me $3000? She explained that I would then have an open balance with them instead of on the credit card. I told her that was fraud. She told me that I now owed them $88 for the office visist and prescriptions. I said well are you going to fill the prescriptions for me then? And she said no the pharmacy will do that. So I told her then you cannot charge me for the prescriptions if you dont intend on filling them. I said as far as the office visist goes you can bill my insurance for whatever you need to bill them for. She said ok then you have a $50 copay. I looked her dead in her eyes and said I am not a fool lady, dental insurance has no F***** co-pays! and alittle stunned her jaw dropped as I walked out that door. For the next 6 days my mouth hurt in throbbing pain from where she injected me with shots in my mouth. I didnt notice the pain from the tooth because the pain from the shots was so intense. I also since the appointment went online and found out the dentist has only been out of college since late 2007...yet she was going to perform a major operation in my mouth unattended by any other dentists? Run for your life you can email me if you want more details or more information that is how serious I am about these people. ARKN2006 at GMail dot COM

I have been a customer at the Arapaho location for 2 1/2 years. This office has been going downhill in handbasket, maybe that's why my dentist left that office about a year ago. Last time on 10/31, I went in for a cleaning. The cleaning was good, but they didn't do any x-rays or anything else. The dentist didn't even come into the room at all, which was fine nothing else was needed besides the cleaning. Then BCBS informed me they charged full x-rays $255, BCBS paid $219 and Dossett sent me an invoice for $36. I called Dossett and spoke to the office manager (I think the name was Michelle), she reassured me the error would be corrected. On 12/31, Dossett sends me a new bill for $36 (they never credited BCBS the amount of $219 as was promised by the office manager) saying that I am overdue and they will charge interest soon. I am now calling the BCBA fraud hot line and they will have to treat this for what it is, i.e., a fraud investigation. SHAME ON YOU DOSSETT! I'll never go back there again EVER!
