I thought this facility was run well when the previous director was
in charge. Both of my sons enjoyed their time there. I don't trust the new director Caitlin's judgement or ethical behavior. Based on my concerns, I removed my daughter immediately. A week after I reported my concerns to the CEO and a week after my child no longer attended the club, Caitlin contacted my daughter's school and spoke with the school's admin.
I later spoke with the principal and was shocked when I heard about the gossip being told by Caitlin. I consider this to be very unprofessional behavior and beneath the Boys & Girls Club standards that I had experienced in prior years.
Desired outcome: For other children and parents to be treated with respect and dignity

Underpaid teachers
Boys and Girls club or American truly wants teachers. Their staff work hard to get paid $9-$11 dollars an hour when it should be $20… we teach the kids, watch the kids, and feed the kids..after school hours from 2:40 to 7… i taught digital arts one year and got switched to STEAM.. a subject i didnt sign up for so im basically learning with the kids…BGCA has enough donors and money coming in to pay their staff more but they only care about the numbers and earnings but never about the staff.
Desired outcome: WE as BGCA staff need a better pay…
Payment not received & holding check
Good afternoon, My name is Kashay Bass and this summer I worked at the Joseph B. Whitehead club in Atlanta, GA. I am very familiar with the club because I am an alumni so, everything was smooth for the most part. When I began working, I attempted to set up my direct deposit however I received an error message. When I informed someone from HR through email...
Read full review of Boys & Girls Clubs of AmericaBully and unfair treat by supervisor from boys and girls club
My son belonged to the boys and girls club after school in 7th and 8th grade. My son joined the Boys & Girls Club in 7th grade and enjoyed the Boys & Girls Club life with a very good relationship with the staff and a supervisor named M who had a great character. So I was able to have my son without worry and focus on my full-time job as a singles mom. But as my son entered 8th grade, the new staffs and A (supervisor) moved in.
My son is experiencing psychological discomfort and bullying from A. I, too, have a lot of mental anxiety and worry. The reason is,
1, My son lost a friend's hat during school lunch or break the previous day at the Boys and Girls Club. My son was looking for a missing hat. A guessed that my son was trying to run away from school, and he told him that he was looking for a missing friend's hat, but he didn't believe it and didn't listen to the reason, treated my son as a disloyal child, and told the staffs Keeping an eye on my son and limiting his behavior.
Since then, A have always reacted bluntly to my son, sometimes not responding to my son's questions, and treated my son as an invisible person in front of other children.
2, My son's friend was sitting on my son's school bag and the broken handle was separated. After confiscating my son for possession of a weapon, he was treated as a troublemaker without asking why. My son got angry at A's curt treatment and behavior and put his middle finger up the back of his head. After another staff witnessed my son's behavior and told A about it, my son was suspended from attending the Boys and Girls Club for three days as punishment. My son acknowledged his misbehavior and had my son write an “apology letter” to A, followed by corporal punishment at home.
The real problem is what happens during the suspension. Outside the school fence is the place where dismissed children are picked up by parents, and inside the fence is the Boys and Girls Club. As a single mom, it is difficult to pick up my son, so I always have to send him to school after school. So, where it is safe for my son, I made him wait even if the pick-up was late. But A was being forced to come to my son and “move to another place because he couldn’t be there.” My son tried to explain why, but it was vague.
I have been feeling dissatisfied for a long time that A continues to do the wrong thing to my son by discriminating against children based on their personal feelings, with absolutely no regard for the safety of the children.
2, My son is on the swim team from 6:30 in the evening, and his practice is from Monday to Friday. So, I had to pick up my son and leave at 5:30 at the latest, and every time I texted or called for an excuse, Anthony didn't answer, and I felt that my son and I were being ignored and discriminated against. Since I didn't have an answer, I had my son tell A and the staff about the swimming match several times, but A's reply was, "It's policy not to go out before 5:20. It's not my problem, so it doesn't matter." I gave you the answer.
I can't go any further on this issue. I raised the matter with A, but he again treated my son as a liar, saying he did not tell the truth. This conversation can also be submitted as evidence by text message.
I know the check out sheet can take the kids out early for other reasons. Even in the 7th grade, there were no problems, and M was cheering him on.
I desperately want A to take action for my son's peace of mind and safety as he no longer serves as a supervisor for the Boys and Girls Club. Again, I wish you quick results.
