I am writing this to warn anyone considering doing business with Todd Gauer or Bay Street Capital Corp. I was introduced to Todd through a mutual contact in 2023. He presented himself as a capital markets professional operating out of 390 Bay Street, Suite 802, Toronto. He claimed he could arrange a large credit facility for my business.
After weeks of back and forth, he convinced me to wire over $75,000 as a "good faith deposit" to secure the facility. The money was sent to an offshore account. The credit facility never materialized. When I pressed him for answers, he went silent. When I threatened legal action, he signed a refund agreement and then defaulted on that too.
I later discovered that 390 Bay Street Suite 802 is a virtual office. He has no real presence there. His company, Bay Street Capital Corp, is registered in the British Virgin Islands — not Canada. He uses a Canadian passport and a Gmail address (bullworthcap@gmail.com) to conduct business. There is no office, no staff, no compliance department.
If someone approaches you claiming to represent Bay Street Capital Corp or Todd Gauer and asks for upfront money to "secure" a loan or credit facility, do not send it. You will never see that money again.
That is a brutal lesson and I am furious for you. Since you already have a signed refund agreement, you have leverage. Stop chasing him directly. Take that agreement, all wire receipts, and his emails to the Toronto Police Service financial crimes unit and file a report with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre immediately. Also, contact your bank's fraud department right now to see if they can trace or freeze any corresponding accounts, even if it feels late. They have protocols for this. Then find a litigation lawyer who handles cross-border fraud; they can subpoena the BVI registry to pierce that corporate shell. Do not let this slide. You have documents, so you have a weapon. Move on these steps today, not tomorrow.
