I am writing this complaint to inform you that my dog was healthy prior to being diagnose with a tumor in December. 3, 2022. leading up to the diagnosis, she was scheduled for a dental cleaning, on June 20, 2022, in which the veterinarian doctor stated that she had gum issues. When I picked up my dog, the vet explained that my dog would need at some point extractions due to the gingivitis. On August 20, 2022, my dog was seen for her scheduled preventive care examination, and the overall health was good according to their exam. On November 26, 2022, I noticed my dog was not eating hard food, I then changed her food and gave her the chewy type, and she would eat it. Then suddenly she began grinding her teeth and gagging when coughing. I called Banfield Hospital and explained what was happening, they stated that it could be allergies and to make an appointment to schedule her in for a checkup. Due to the non-threatening of my dog issues according to Banfield. I tried to schedule her for a in person appointment, but they did not have it available. So, I asked if they could prescribe medication. Banfield Hospital called me back two days later and told me that the Doctor had medication ready for my dog.

On December 3, 2022, I drove to Banfield Hospital to pick up her medication and to see the veterinarian as a walk-in. Unfortunately, that did not happen. The veterinarian at the front desk stated they were too busy to put my dog on schedule. Although, she observed my dog coughing and gagging, she didn't think it was of any concern to be seen that day. So, she suggested I schedule an appointment for another day, or to visit the nearby Veterinarian Hospital. I decided on driving my dog to the hospital for a checkup and upon approaching the front desk, they quickly took my dog immediately into the back room and had me fill-out all kinds of forms. They told me that due to the danger my dog's life I needed to give them the authorization to take action immediately. I told them yes, but I also told them that I just came from Banfield Hospital, and they didn't seem to think my dog was in any danger.

My point of this complaint is that Banfield Hospital should not be called a hospital first of all, and they should not advertise that being a Banfield member gives us preference to be seen first, when our pet is feeling sick. Most importantly, they should stand by their product and services to truly "Prevent Wellness". My dog was diagnosed with a tumor in her chest cavity on December 3, 2022. She passed away on February 6, 2023.

Desired outcome: I shouldn't be paying for the rest of this contract due to these circumstances. In addition, I strongly suggest that Banfield Preventive Wellness company should change their name and practices.
