June 22, 2017 Initial consult: appointment was set up by office manager (Sue) with a different hematologist than the one referred by the PCP. This was due to the fact the patient had a platelet count of six. Patient had a brain bleed and was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital/Barrow in Phoenix June, 2016.The patient was left with short term memory loss, left sided weakness and balance problems. Patient uses a cane.
The hematologist addressed the patient in a hostile manner at the beginning of the consult, criticized a kidney specialist for lab tests he ordered because the patient experience renal failure and criticized the patient when answering questions. The hematologist began referring to the patient as beautiful. This statement was made several times in the front of staff . The patient was made to feel uncomfortable. Nurses ignored a blood pressure drop of 93/53 during the second Rituximab IV therapy. Dosage of Rituximab is in question. IV Therapy of Rituximab was administered :1st week (6/29) six hours, 2nd week (7/06) 3 hours. Patient had Rituximab IV therapy in 2011 and 2012 which was always administered in 6 hours, due to side effects of elevated blood pressure and involuntary leg movements controlled by weighted pillow. None of these symptoms were present on 6/29/17 and 7/6/2017. The patient believes the dose of Rituximab was less than therapeutic after platelets began to fall after first treatment to 27 after reaching 30 with no treatment.
