On 12/28/2021 I, Michael J Trese signed a contract with Total Home Roofing to have the roof of my home replaced. I needed the roof replaced due to dry rot I had discovered on the northwest corner of the flat deck part of my roof. Not because it was leaking. I had had no leaks for over one year prior to Total Home Roofing replacing my roof. The address of the home that I hired Total Home Roofing to replace is 2838 37th Avenue North in St. Petersburg Florida. The sales representative for Total Home Roofing at that signing was Andrew Capabianco. The job agreed on was the total replacement of the roof both the pitched roof and the flat deck. Also, Total Home Roofing would be replacing the dry rotted portions of any part of the roof whether it was on the flat deck or the pitched part of the roof or both. The total price of the job was $9,800. That price included all the roofing material, the labor, the new drip edge for the whole roof and 4 extra sheets of plywood that would be used to replace the dry rotted wood. Andrew did suggest that I purchase their flat deck tapering system but, because the roof was not leaking prior to Total Home Roofing replacing it, I did not feel it was necessary and signed a waiver not to have that installed on my roof at this time.

Before Total Home Roofing began the job I was contacted via text message by 2 other Total Home Roofing employees. The first employee was a woman who said her name was Leah. She told me she would be supervising the project, setting the date the work would begin, and making sure the material needed to complete the job was delivered to the job in time. Leah also reported she would be a point of contact for me to answer any questions or help me with any problems that might arise. The second employee was another woman who said her name was Arielle. She also reported she would be helping to supervise the project and would a point of contact for me as well.

The actual work on the roof replacement began on 1/12/22. And I was informed by the crew foreman, Edgar, that it was also completed by the end of the day although I did not know it had been completed until 1/13/22. That was when Edgar came to my home to do what he called the "walk-through inspection". The walk-through inspection looked good. On 1/12/22 Edgar found a little over 100 linear feet of 1"x 6" wood on the pitched part of the roof that showed dry rot as well as 3 sheets of plywood on the flat deck. I signed permission for Edgar to buy the extra wood the 100 linear feet of 1"x 6". It was purchased and the wood was replaced.

To me the work looked completed and properly done. I paid Edgar a check for8 $10,800. This as on 1/13/22.

Then on Sunday 1/16/22 it started raining very early in the morning. When I woke up around 8am I got up and walked through the house looking for and leaks or other problems. In the living room which is under the flat deck water was pouring in through the ceiling above the center north side widow. I immediately took a video of the water pouring in and put down towels to try to help soak up the water. Buckets and pans were of no avail because the leaking area was too long for a buck to catch the water. Instead I out down towels to catch as much water as I could and used my wet vac to suck out about 2 gallons of water out of the carpet. Because it was Sunday, I did not try to contact Edgar to have him come out and try to remediate the problem. I did contact him first thing Monday morning 1/17/22 even though it was the Martin Luther King holiday. He came out with his crew and attempted to fix the leaking at that time.

Due to the leaking roof' I also contacted my bank, Wells Fargo, to try to stop payment on the check as I was no longer satisfied with the job Total Home Roofing had done. Wells Fargo informed that they had already sent Total Home Roofing the funds. They volunteered to file a dispute of payment on 1/17/22 due to the roof leaking. I agreed to have them file the dispute of payment.

On Saturday 1/22/22 it rained again and by that evening the water was leaking through the ceiling again. Edgar said it was leaking because there is a low spot in the flat deck at that point and the water ponds up there giving it time to seep through. It is important to mention here again that the roof had not leaked for over a year prior to Total Home Roofing replacing the roof and never in that spot since I bought the house on 10/31/14. On 1/23/22 I contacted Edgar again by text and sent him message that the roof was leaking again. I sent a picture with the text message of the wet spots on the ceiling.

On 1/24/22 Edgar and his crew came out and put a tarp over the spot on the roof that was leaking. On 1/25/ it rained again and the roof leaked through the tarp. I texted Edgar another message that the roof was leaking and texted him a picture of the wet spots showing through the ceiling. This was at 8:55pm.

I have since tried on 2 occasions to contact Edgar's supervisor Jim at Edgar's request to work with him to resolve the leak. That was on 1/26/22. Both times no one answered but I let messages on the voice mail with my phone number asking Jim to call me. I also contacted the west coast regional manager Giovani by text message with the latest picture of the roof leaking asking him to contact me or have Jim contact me to resolve this leaking issue. Ita is now Sunday evening at 7:37pm and I have not heard from either Jim, Giovani, or any other agent of Total Home Roofing. I have since stopped Wells Fargo from disputing the bill and I have paid it in full. I feel now that I'm being ignored and that they have no intention of fixing the leaking or repairing the damage caused to my house due to the leak.

Country of complaint: United States

Desired outcome: I would like Giovani to contact me and work with me to come to a reasonable solution that includes repairing the leak. I would also like them to fix the damage the leak caused the ceiling, the wall, and the carpet.

Ready for a class action suit. My roof is still leaking and they had the nerve to file a lien while job unfinished and failing all inspections. Missmicki100@gmail.com

Did they file a lien on your home. They have done the same to me. Leaking flat roof and expect final payment, when job has failed inspection six times. My e-mail missmicki100@gmail.com Ready to round up others for a class action suit. Literally on hold right now for 19 minutes.

Dworley here. Same issues here too. Company says job is complete but I have over 100 photos of damaged and/or poor quality on the roof. Now neither Angi Roofing LLC, Total Home Roofing or Citrus Contracting will fix. Within 1 week of them "completing" the job my front porch pan roof fell off the house!

Interested in joining a suit.
