In 1988, I was hired at an automotive dealership in Nashville, TN. They, at that time had an "insurance guy" named Marshall J. Cransford, a grandfatherly gentleman who came by periodically to help us with all our life insurance needs. He provided information to American Heritage Life/ Allstate, which consisted of a whole life policy. After signing up he explained how it worked, that we could borrow, save, and at the end of it collect and cash out at any time in the future. He was good, he said all the right things, explained how great it was. Fast forward to present day, after paying this company all these weekly deductions out of my check for 31 years ( my tenure with this same company). Decided to cash in my money that he explained would be available to me at the end of 30 years, should be around $10, 000.00. By the way, this gentlemen is no longer a representative, sure he has since passed. Around 2006, there actually was an $1800.00 loan drawn on it. OK, wow, after all it IS my money! I do admit I didn't pay the loan, but there was plenty of money in the account to cover any outstanding loan or debits as explained by Mr. Cransford in 1988. In his exact words to me "It's simple math, any loans accured during this time is automatically taken out of your balance, but you still retain the balance!" But there should still have been a substantial balance remaining, right? Wrong! NOW, after speaking with a rep named Matt, who could not find any information on my account, and having to basically get nasty I spoke with a supervisor who informed me finally that the account had indeed been closed in 2014? WHAT? My company I worked for was still getting payment debits from them to clip my check with...(What a bunch of thugs!) REALLY? They basically was trying to continue to charge me the "interest" on this loan that was taken out 13 years ago to purposely drain all my life savings I had in this account and to help me retire with.
And if that isn't enough, they were trying to continue to extort money from my employer by accepting money after the policy had been canceled for whatever reason I'm sure in the name of interest! That's BS. They can use their "Policies and Procedures" in the contract no one has the time to read, but the bottom line is they are rip off artist and crooks, I am basically left with nothing to my name because of them. The post office box they sent the cancelation notice to had been closed for years. Wouldn't you think if you were canceling someone's life insurance you would send a certified letter? I've talked with several people from that company, Linda R. Johnson, Premium Admin., a guy named Matt. The supervisors name was Melinda, or Linda.
