I have held an American express credit card for about 5 years now. They sent me an invitation to open a high interest savings account for 25,000 and if I kept the money there a certain amount of time they would give me 350.00 US dollars.

I was looking for another savings acct so jumped on it. I clicked on the email they sent and opened the acct. and funded it the required amt in May of 2025 which was when the offer was open. I never touched the money.

Over the months I kept calling and asking about my bonus. I called at least 2 times before the final time and was told I had to wait a full 5 months since deposit-which I missed in the fine print. Both times the amex rep said it was coming.

Today I called again and the Amex rep said "I will not get the bonus as 2 accts were opened at the same time and I happened to fund the one that did not have the bonus." This is not any of my doing but their websites glitch. 2 exact accts (A and B) were mysteriously created 7 minutes apart.

When I got the confirming paperwork that two accts were mistakenly created I called to have them cancel one. I told the worker I only needed one acct and did not want my bonus effected if I did not fund both. She ended up cancelling the first one created (A). I then funded acct B the 25000. According to Amex she cancelled my bonus acct and left me with a regular acct.

I had no idea I sent money to an acct that would not give me a bonus. Otherwise I would have closed it and opened a third acct as I had a long time before the offer was to close. I strongly think this is something they do often to consumers.

It makes no sense to delete the first acct created when the second is the duplicate. I think that even if the amex worker deleted the second one they would still use this excuse to get out of payment. Funny thing is I TOLD her to delete the second one and she did not.

Fraud plain and simple but I guess I am lucky. According to all the horrid reviews they steal large amounts of money from their customers accounts. One guy I read about online will lose his house because of American Express stealing over 4k from him!

Claimed loss: 350.00

Desired outcome: I want my 350.00 plus interest.
