I must express significant concern and disagreement with the assertion that the system has returned to its normal scheduled runtime. The operational reality we have experienced directly contradicts this information. The generator ran continuously throughout Friday, multiple times across the entire weekend, and again numerous times last night and this morning. This activity was not associated with a power outage, nor does its frequency and duration align with what would be considered routine testing.
This persistent issue is having severe repercussions on my son's health. He is experiencing pronounced breathing difficulties due to the exhaust emissions, which directly exacerbate his asthma condition. Furthermore, the noise levels, consistently exceeding 95 dB for 10 minutes every, are not only highly disruptive but also pose a risk of permanent hearing damage for residents in the immediate vicinity. Due to the lack of sleep and poor air quality, my son has missed his classes both today, and we are gravely concerned about the potential for another emergency room visit as a direct result. If this situation continues, I will be compelled to report it to the appropriate state authorities, as it constitutes a direct health hazard to residents.
This problem has been ongoing for several months. We were previously assured by management that the generator would activate only once a week for a brief 10-minute cycle. Despite a technician working on the generator just last Thursday, the issue has unfortunately worsened significantly. The current operational pattern, involving frequent and extended running, far exceeds acceptable noise and emission standards for a residential zone and appears to violate Orange County noise ordinances.
It is particularly concerning that while staff members presumably utilize personal protective equipment when maintaining this machinery, residents are left exposed to these harmful emissions and excessive noise without any provisions, such as air purifiers, to mitigate the impact on their health and quality of life. This directly impairs their ability to study and live comfortably within their own apartments.
This marks my ninth attempt to contact your office regarding this unresolved matter through various channels, including phone calls, emails, and voicemails. The repeated assurances that the issue is resolved or under control are clearly not aligning with the reality faced by residents. I am seeking an immediate and definitive resolution to this critical problem.
I urge you to take this matter with the seriousness it warrants. I need to speak directly with someone who can provide a concrete action plan and a timeline for a permanent resolution. Please contact me on my cell at [protected] to discuss this urgently.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Schulz
Desired outcome: Fix the issue, relocate the generator or TURN IT OFF.
