We purchased a 2009 Tomos Streetmate R. We have only owned it for 31 days. The moped has 75 miles on it. The moped was in the shop for 2 weeks out of the 31 days we have owned it. Needless to say the moped has been rode 4 times and 2 of the times was when we drove it home from the dealer. The problems we currently have is the moped stalls and the engine shuts off when riding it. It did it when we drove it down the road and at all stop signs. It stalled 9 times while trying to bring it home yesterday. We purchased the moped from Rehmerts Kawaski in Versailles Ohio. The moped was in the shop because the horn, electric starter, signals stopped working after the second time we rode it. The speedometer jumps when riding it and the mirror vibrates so bad you cant even see out of it. PLEASE HELP!

I bought a 2008 Tomos Streetmate R with 100mphs on it and lets see. I blew the clutches. 2 days after getting it back I was on the road and my sprocket come loose, chain broke and crackes the outter shell. I have mixed fealings about the type R. The parts I can't find anywhere. If anyone knows please let me know what a good site is to get 2008 Streetmate R parts from engine upgrades to bolts and screws. Please email me wwallin24@yahoo.com

I have one of those Tomos Mopeds. The Moped is made in Slovenia and now uses Chinese and Indian parts. There is a guy on you tube Doug Joseph that says he is the sales manager. This guy does not know what he is talking about. I remember his voice when I called the company about problems with my moped. He could not be botherd. Now I see the video and he looks like a fustrated gay man. Check out moped ary 1977 mopeds.

I bought my Streetmate year... lots of small problems and one big one (hall effect sensor was defective). So, I learned a lot about fixing Tomos mopeds and made a bunch of videos of the process... now?... I put 12, 000 KM (8000 Miles) on my Streetmate since May of 2008 (bike was in storage from Nov 08' to april 09')... I love it... its a lot of fun dispite the problems at the beginning...

There is a pressure release valve that occasionally needs to be depressed, otherwise a vacuum is created in the gas tank which will starve the bike of fuel. Vibration is normal, some bikes have it a lot, others very little. A single cylinder engine will shake, how much depends on how the dozen or so parts that affect this were put made and assembled. And yeah, junk the stock fuse. btw - we haven't figured out anyway of stopping the disc brake from squealing except by beveling the pads.

I just bought one two weeks ago. Had a similar problem with shakyness and electronics. Now has 250 miles, and no more complaints.

1. Make sure you tighten all the bolts, since it is put together by the dealer by hand.
2. Clean out you carborator, which could be clogged with debris
3. Change out the stock fuse, which gave me lots of problems
4. If your chain is loose, it could also be causing the shake.
5. Buy new mirrors: The stock ones are naturaly crappy and too sensitive.
6. Charge your battery or buy a new one
7. If the engine problem persists, downjet or upjet
