In July, 2021 we accessed the Angi site for a reference in connection with purchasing and installing a new awning. One of the referrals was Voss and Company, llc, (Derick Otten).
We contacted him and, subsequently met with him on July 20, 2021. He was very personable and we placed an order on that date. At his request, we provided a $1,700 deposit on our order.
Numerous delays, explanations, and rationales ensued. Suffice it to say, 11 months later, we have still not seen a new awning. At this stage we are pursuing whatever options exist with an objective of receiving a refund of our deposit.
I would most definitely not recommend using this company and individual for awnings or other home improvement projects.
Desired outcome: Full refund of $ 1,700
Unfortunately, I’m afraid you won’t see any sign of your money. Derrick Otten is the inveterate scam artist. Personable and convincing he took a deposit of $2,500 for materials to build a floor to ceiling bookcase, assuring me that it could be done within a few. 3 months. Many lies and deceptions later, there is no bookcase and no refund of deposit. I later find out that Otten has over 50 liens against him for “Business” agreements such as ours. He is nothing more than a common thief and should be in jail.
