Von Riesig Kennels review: Dog breeder

BUYER BEWARE. The kennel was selling as-advertised Akitas that were non-AKC. We were ok with that. We were not planning on showing or breeding. The puppies were young but looked Akita well enough. Well what the breeder meant by that is that the dog was a known mix - half Akita and half German Shepherd. There was never a mention that the mother and father were different. After 6 months went by and it was obvious the dog was nowhere near an Akita, we called them. They made unverifiable claims that the stud owner claimed it was an Akita and wouldn't do anything to resolve it to our satisfaction. Any breeder would have known that the stud was not Akita. It's not like it is a slight mix that would cause AKC to not class the dog as Akita. The DNA showed a 56/44 split between Akita and German Shepherd. It is obvious that one of the breeder 's dogs (because they had at least four breeds out all together) got loose and mated. Hey, it happens but at least be fully honest about what you are selling.
