I recently attempted to resume donating at BioLife. A very long period of time had passed, and I’m at a new stage in my life where some extra income would be very valuable. I received numerous reminders, offers, etc. before the day of my appointment. At my appointment, I was eventually informed that I had been “deferred” from donating almost ten years prior, with the reason being “failure to disclose tattoos/piercings.” I was never previously informed of the ban, nor was I made aware in any of the correspondences prior to showing up. I attempted to appeal and was told there was nothing I could do. I’ve never hidden a tattoo or piercing, and their own policies related to body modification have changed in this time frame too.
