Crunch Fitness makes it SUPER HARD to cancel your membership. They will come up with any kind of stupid reason to prevent you from canceling your membership. It seems like SCAM!
I have a month to month membership plan and I called the local club (789 St Georges Ave, Woodbridge Township, NJ 07095) on 3/28/2022 to cancel my membership as I was moving out of the area. They told me I have to go there in person or call a number [protected] to cancel the membership.
First time I called, Ali picked up the phone and told me that since I had frozen my gym membership, I cannot cancel it. I will need to wait until June for it to unfreeze before cancelling (Sounds stupid, right?)
Then I called the club again to unfreeze my membership. They did it right away and told me that I could go use the club on the same day as the change takes affect immediately.
Then I called the above number again to cancel as my account for unfrozen. This time Kevin picks up the call and tells me that my account is still frozen and I need to call after my next due date to cancel the membership. I explained him that if the local club allows me to use the gym facilities the same day as the account is unfrozen then why do I need to wait until the due date to cancel the membership. He did not have any answer to that and started blabbering. He wouldn't even transfer the call to a supervisor stating they all are busy on other calls.
THEY DO NOT WANT YOU TO STOP PAYING. THE CALL CENTER AND THE GYM SEEMS LIKE A BIG SCAM.
Desired outcome: I would like my membership cancelled right away.
