Planet Fitness - disrespectful staff/poor service/billing problems

To cancel a membership is excruciatingly difficult. If you can't go there personally they ask to mail a letter. Which they then do not receive and charge you fees and for 2 more months more worth of service, even if you have not attended the gym for 1 year. In fine print it is written that your membership automatically renews every year. Terrible customer service. I was hung up on twice by an associate and a manager names KIM. Once again, terrible management, no understanding or appreciation for customers.

The same thing is happening to me with Curves of Durham, 1020 US 70. I had moved to another city and was considering transferring my membership until they started debiting $29 payments from my account any date except the designated date they were suppose to. I decided to cancel my membership, which had to be done in writing. I mail them a letter of cancellation and noticed charges were still being debited from my account long after the final payment they informed about. When I inquired about it, I was told that my letter was never received...so I wrote another letter and had it hand delivered. I, also, had the bank to stop payment on any electronic debits from Curves. Nearly three years later, an amount of $162 was debited from my account this week. My bank told me that it was an electronic debit to Curves of Durham. Curves claims the final payment was never paid because of the stopped payment. I never received a notice informing me of this...they claimed they tried to contact me but the letters were returned. I did a change of address when I moved...all my other mail was forwarded with no problem, why not Curves. My daughter still live at the address in Durham and ahe said no mail came there from Curves. I think I sent a live check for that last payment with the cancellation lettter, I'm checking my bank statements. I plan to seek legal advice. I will be filing a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, Federal Trade Commission, and NC State Attorney. I'm als0 going to bring this incident to the attention of the local television Trouble Shooters, 20/20, Prime Time, Oprah...any and everybody.

I was a member of that crap hole and was moving out of state. I had $ taken out for the yearly membership fee and they would not give me the money back the day after it was taken out and i submitted my cancelation. I tried to contact the corperate office but all #s to that are not working numbers. This place is garbage!
