All Steel Carports - Service, customer care

Very unhappy with the service we received from All Steel Carports in Muncie Indiana. In hindsight, I wish I would have looked at the reviews online and BBB. The company had let my husband know when his carport would arrive. It was ordered the 31st of August and was to be delivered on the 5th of October. He took the day off work so the building would be set in the correct place and so I wouldn’t need to deal with any of the installation. It was set to be delivered before 2, but could come earlier or later. At about 2:30, I suggested he call the company to see where the installer was and when they might arrive. The company told him that he should have received a call Sunday night by the contractor saying they would not be there on Monday. There was some trouble getting a truck or a trailer and they got a late start. But, they would call the contractor and see if he could skip a different person and get the building to us since he had taken the day off. They were going to call him back. At 5, I ended up calling the business and talking to Mitch Cooper. He didn’t know what was going on or where the contractor was. I had to explain everything to him and he ended up calling the contractor while I was on hold to see where he was. He came back on the line to say they would not be delivering it that day but it looked like Wed. they could come. Not being very happy, I asked for a discount on the building since my husband missed a day of work that could have been avoided and now it would be my responsibility to deal with the building. Mitch told me they don’t give discounts. I asked to speak to the owner of the company and he said the owner does not deal with customers. Then I asked to talk to someone higher than him, as he was the regional manager. He transferred me to his colleague, Michael Burton. Michael came on the line and asked if he could call me back because he had already heard from 3 people in Ohio and was talking with one of them then. When he called back, I explained the whole situation again and he said they do not give discounts and the owner would not speak to me. I was already frustrated and again voiced my displeasure and wanted some kind of compensation. He told me this was a flexible delivery time and it “was on my contract”, which I never did see anything of the sort. He told me he would speak to the contractor to see if he would lower his price, but All Steel would not give any allowance for the non-delivery. He said he would call back by noon the next day to give the option of cancelling with refund of the deposit (which they never do according to Michael), or the amount of the contractor discount. He hung up on me after being very rude, and before I could give him my number instead of my husbands. When I called the number right back, I spoke to a female operator. When I asked to speak to Michael, she was not familiar with who that was. I even gave her his last name, and told her he was rude. When she heard that and I mentioned I would still like to speak to the owner, she stated they were both in a meeting and asked for a phone number to have someone call back. They did not call back. Michael spoke to the contractor who offered a $25 discount for the installation. He called my husband the next day who did accept the $25 discount from the contractor. The company did NOTHING for his loss of wage, or inconvenience of not delivering the building when scheduled. The building was delivered two days later, while my husband was at work. The workmen were very rough with dropping the steel pieces on our new concrete, and I ended up asking my husband to come home early again so he could be sure the building was up to his standards. The workmen were all foreigners, spoke little English, but were respectful when I asked they not smoke near the house. It took from 2:30 until 8:30 for the building to be completed. After filing a complaint with the BBB, this company is still inadequate in customer service. There are many complaints in the last 12 months. The response from the company is that they do everything for happy customers. My husband is happy with the quality of the building, but said if winter wasn’t coming so soon and he would have to wait another 8 weeks from another company he would have cancelled. Look into a different company! This company is sub par.
