on 7/5/2020 I went to the Temple city, Las Tunas/Baldwin store. I've been shopping here for about 11 years. I was buying beer and wine. In 11 years I've not been asked for ID when purchasing liquor. Unfortunately I did not have it with me. I apologized and assured them I was over 20 years of age. They agreed still they insisted on my ID. I told them to hold my purchases that I'd be right back. When I returned and showed my ID they didn't look at it and rang up my purchase. I was flabbergasted, what had this all been about?
then the assistant Manager named Laura said that Anthony the kid who initially asked for my ID was new and she was there to ensure he followed store protocol. That made sense to me. However common sense is required when providing a service to people. I understand if a customer is belligerent or drunk they have to protect themselves. In this instance this was not the case. I felt harassed and humiliated by these two and the only explanation I can come up with is this woman wanted to impose her superiority over this new employee. I asked her for the store manager's name and telephone number and she refused. She said she could not give out people's personal number i clarified I wanted her work number because I felt harassed. after much insistence she gave me the manager's name but not the store's number instead she gave me a bogus number for CVS corporate which had to do with Pharmacy and not front store issues.
I've never had any issues with anyone at this store before employees have been courteous and very helpful so I believed this is an isolated incident. I however felt compelled to vent my frustration.
Desired outcome: Hopefully that employees be reprimanded and made to understand that customers represent the life line of their business and that common sense has to be employed when circumstances such as mine occur.n
