Melikson Garage Door - Aka "garage door service". A poorly run business.

Don't even think about Melikson Garage Door Inc. or AKA "Garage Door Service".

This is a poorly run business from:

1) Their phone number (when dialing for "Return Customer" the mail box is full).

2) The Invoice that looks like it was drawn up without much thought (no company address, no license number, terrible hand writing).

3) When something goes terribly wrong their reasons are laughable.

4) They don't return calls.

My torsion spring on the garage door broke. On Jan. 31, ’23, The technician says, "That factory part is no longer available. I have to install a replacement." That spring is the cause of the problems that followed:

1) Erratic starting and stopping point.

2) Loud snapping when closing.

3) Extremely difficult to open or close by hand.

As I followed the instructions for starting and stopping positions, the opener’s travel went two feet and stopped, went two feet and stopped and continued that way. Garage Door Service came out and said, “The motor is bad.” I said, “Change the motor.” He said, “We don’t do that.” I needed a whole new opener. Reluctantly, I agreed. That was on May 18. ’23. I was desperate for a working opener. A week goes by when the loud snapping noise when closing went from one snap to four snaps and inconsistent starting and stopping points occurred. Called Garage Door Service again and they sent a specialist out. He determined the coil springs were either defective or incorrect and replaced them. The snapping noise was the belt slipping on the drive sprocket. He replaced the springs and added some missing shims.

Since the torsion spring was the cause of the problem with my original and new opener, I asked for compensation. Another technician called and explained to me the cause of my original opener was over torquing by the motor (laughable). I pointed out that the new opener did the same thing until the springs were changed. So the springs were the cause of my original opener going bad.

I called the company using "Return Customer" – the mail box is full. I called “New Customers” and relayed my experience and asked that the Supervisor call me back. This happened several times and each time the Supervisor didn’t call back.

It’s now July 17, ’23 and the silence goes on.

Desired outcome: A phone call leading to a compensation resolution.
