I been dealing with thisn storage for 10 yrs and with its different ownership. My rent was 77.00 a month. I paid it every month on time and now this guy in the office raises my rent to 145.00. Plus a dollar to cash a check I disregarded that and paid 77.00. I was told my rent is now 144.00 dollars a month. My wife rented a unit for 55.00. They called her and said her rent would be 92.00 plus the 1.00 to cash the check, I tried to reason with your manger and he just shined mw on and said prices go. So I filed a paper to consumer report to the ftc. I told them this company is price gouging its customers. I filled the report and sent it to them I also have a grand daughter and they price gouged her. So I sent my complaint form in an I am ready to do whatever it takes to resolve this price gouging. It is against the law and this company is breaking the law I will do what ever they tell me ton do if we have to go to court I will proceed. I have to remove my stuff out of this small space bby the 1st the smart guy in charge called and said he can only lower the price to 110.00 dollars I told him I just left my job and I am a senior and I asked him is this how you treat people that been a customeer for 10 years? He answered real smart prices go up and we half to pay for improvements, so I tried to resolve this and I will put this episode to the valley pres and yelp and let every body know how you people treat their customers also on the interet to let people know before they come there for a unit how much it will cost the price gougers you people you are thank you for sad service..

Same issue as others above about price gouging. I rented a 10 x 15 unit from Extra Space in July 2022 located in Clinton Township, MI. This facility is of new construction approximately 6 months old. I moved my things in from Public Storage a short distance away. I left there for the same reason as I left my original 2 storage facilities. The first facility I used went through 2 owners, so I count them as 2 facilities even though I didn't have to move my things, their behavior was the same. A familiar pattern of rent increases of $20 or so every few months, I could practically set my watch by it.
The initial rent at Extra Space was $91.00, which includes $11.00 for their insurance as our homeowners policy doesn't cover anything in storage.
I just received the bill for November, with the price rising to $171.00, nearly double the previous "teaser rate" I paid for the first 3 months. I looked through my receipts to find the rental agreement I imagined I signed, but couldn't seem to find any hard-copy or even remembering whether I signed anything. I thought possibly I could find some mention of rate increases in the "fine print".
Since it is late in the year, it would be difficult to move things to another facility given the approach of winter. However when I do visit the unit, I'll determine things I can trash or donate.
Extra Space is no different than any other storage facility. I'm seriously disappointed.
