I had an outpatient spinal cord stimulator implant surgery to help ween off of high dose, high qtys of varying meds following failed back fusion. I coded in surgery and stayed 3 nights in hospital. Two days prior to surgery my Pain Mgt Dr provided a script for the following month's supply of meds including Norco, which I had filled.
While in hospital the surgeon switched me to Oxycodone for better pain control. After discharge, Surgeon gave a script for 10 days of Oxycodone and not to continue Norco for 10 days. Local CVS refused to fill due to me just receiving my next month's supply of meds. Hours later in pain, I went to ER for Oxy. ER Dr called CVS and said fill script, they are aware of prior meds dispensed. Again, CVS refused to fill my oxy script. I return to ER for my next dose of oxy every 4 hrs and Hospital ER Director called bedside and ordered oxy script filled, so now CVS fills it. Hospital ate my bill for 2 ER visits over 8 hrs, during busy time. Very upset I suffered so much with length of my back bandaged up for trying to ween off meds with implant. But the look on ER staff face when they saw my back x-ray! Rods, pins, screws, wires placed in spine down to my right hip internal battery pocket. Priceless!
Desired outcome: CVS must follow Hospital Dr orders
