Tax Resolution Plus review: Tax Resolution Services

I received an official-looking letter in the mail that I believed was from the state tax authority. The letter appeared to be a "Final Demand" for payment, using threatening language like "Seizure or forfeiture may be imminent."

I called the number on the letter and spoke with a representative named Alan, who identified himself as a "Tax Settlement Officer with Tax Resolution Plus." He pressured me to sign up for a monthly payment plan to resolve my tax debt. When I told him I was already working on an Offer in Compromise with my accountant, he became less insistent. He then texted me his contact information, but it was only after I verified the situation with my accountant that I realized Tax Resolution Plus is a private company, not a government agency.

The deceptive nature of the letter and the phone call are designed to create fear and pressure individuals into paying for services they may not need and did not request.

Desired Outcome: I want this company to stop sending deceptive mailers that appear to be from a government entity. I also want them to stop using high-pressure sales tactics that prey on individuals who are already stressed about their taxes. I am not seeking any financial compensation, but I want my complaint to be documented to prevent them from continuing these deceptive practices.
