Primarily through his representative, made deceiving comments about their experience and made promises they didn't keep. Basically took thousands of money in advance for a loan modification... then almost 2 months later had not even submitted a package to the bank for the modification, all along while I was in foreclosure. They also did a bait and switch... promised to work on the loan in foreclosure, then switched the contract to read a loan that was not in foreclosure... while verbally stating they were really going to work on the other too... but of course didn't.
I asked for a refund... They sent most back, but kept $500... FOR NOTHING. Actually I was left worse off with the lender than before I started with them.
I asked for an accounting of their hours with the dates/time they worked. Again... no response...NOTHING.
Then they remarked I had called too much... after I called a couple of times trying to find out about any progress... but there wasn't any... they were not working on the loan.
I would not deal with them again... I don't feel they are ethical, honest, or moral.

GREAT, HONEST AND PROFESSIONAL PEOPLE

I have been working with Stephen R. Golden for two years now. I didn't have a job when I first started with them but they were able to keep me in my home.

In March of 2013 my bank foreclosed on my loan and I was really scared but Stephen R Golden was able to have the bank rescind the loan back to me.

Even though I didn't qualify for the loan modification because I didn't have a job we were able to get this far. But now I have a job so we are working on a new loan modification. I am very satisfied with their work. I am sure if I don't get qualified for the loan modification Stephen R Golden is ready to Sue the bank so I can keep my home. They are good honest and hard working people.

If they don't call you back right away its because they are working hard on their clients behalf.

I have been working with the firm for three months now and have received excellent service and open communication. We are still the modification stage but they stopped a sale giving us peace of mind. I was ready to file a chapter 13 but we have hopes that we can avoid it. Thoroughly satisfied with the customer service so far. Rafael

With regards to "The Sovereign State Theory" our office is not aware of this theory, therefore we do not subscribe to it nor tell our clients about it.

Generally, we do not tell clients not to pay their lender. However, if the payment demanded by the lender will exhaust their savings to pay their mortgage payments, then i will recommend not to pay. If the client keeps making payment by draining savings and borrowing from relatives to do so, he will eventually be broke, unable to make payments, be foreclosed upon and on the street. Once a client is evicted, landlords receive this information and will not rent to such persons, our office can preclude the foreclosure.

In addition most lenders state flat out that they will no modify the loan while the client is current with mortgage payments. Banks tell the homeowners not to pay or that they can't help them if they are current, not because they intend to provide a modification, but because they get more service fees when the homeowner is late or behind in payments. This is because such pretender lenders don't own the loan, but merely service them. When they foreclose they get all their fees off the top and the investors get what is left.

The reason clients come to our office is that they are unable to make the current payment without exhausting savings and lines of credit. If they could pay their lender, they would not need our services. Under these circumstances it makes no sense to attempt to make the monthly mortgage payments.

Anyone is welcome to come on our radio show KABC 790 am, including Bank officials and their Attorney's to show me where I am wrong here. I am always willing to admit when I am wrong. Please call [protected] and we will arrange for you to come on our radio show and criticize me publicly for this or any other mistakes.

I have to agree. Don't use this firm. They give bad advice that will cost you even more money. They did not get us any results and took no action unless we came into their offices and sat there while they made phone calls on our behalf. We complained numerous times about the lack of follow through on promises and were told that we needed to continually call them. Ultimately they suggested litigation, but we had zero confidence they would follow through on appropriate actions or that the advice they were providing was adequate. At one session, a staff member talked to us about the sovereign citizen theory. This is a widely discredited legal theory that can wind you up in prison if you follow it. Do not use this law firm.

I met May 8 with Stephen Golden, two other attorneys, Habib, and spoke with them. I found them to be deceptive, deceitful, and just responded to a Golden email filled with trickery, as act of moral torpitude. I do not reccomend any business with them. I found the complaint to be accurate in my experience of their misconduct.

This attorney has at time told clients not to pay their mortgages. His justification for this is that the mortgages are illegal. If he is right, then he is right. If he is wrong, then he can be held by the banks and his clients for Interference with a contractional relationship, and held by his clients for malpractice. He can be sued and be held by the bar for disciplinary review.

It is very difficult to respond to unsigned complaints, however our Law Firm does not do "Loan Modifications", we sue banks for unlawful foreclosure. A negotiated settlement may occur during the litigation process, our Attorneys and negotiators do what is necessary based on the desire of the client. This law firm has an excellent track record with regards to litigating wrongful foreclosure, again difficult to respond to unsigned complaints.

This law firm took our money for loan modification and was unable to achieve it in part because they failed repeatedly to follow through. We had to continually call them to get any action. Don't use this firm.

Ms. Martha Mackey’s allegations are simply not true. We worked dozens and dozens of hours on her two properties. However, we had to quit representing her because she literally wore out our office staff with her constant telephone calls for a period of nine months. I returned all her money except $500. The California State Bar, which after its investigation, found nothing warranting further action. You may call Ms. Mackey at [protected]. I'm sure she would spend hours with you on the phone venting about her case with my office. She may wear you out like the State Bar and our office.
