Bad product nothing fits / assembly details are dribble can not understand them as if written by 5 year old or someone of an other language. Have tried to contact them by email for a refund as there is no phone number when i asked for someone to contact me by phone, answer was don' have the luxury of time & phone. I sent several more emails and asked questions received same answer every time even when i insulted them to see if i would receive the same answer which i did i was told to fill in form & supply photographs a limit of 2 photo they said if i did not have a digital camera to borrow one from some one (very professional) help before they would even consider the problem. I emailed everything they wanted except photos. I emailed again to see if they received them no answer i have spent 4 hours on emailing etc five minutes phone call if this company was genuine would have solved the problem, instead they spent time that they said they did not have to email back and forth. If you intend to buy anything from this company think twice i have lost $199 on a kids car thats useless, was to be a 3 year old birthday present. (How weak is that?) steeling from kids...

ps do not buy from anyone wih no phone number

This is a scam company. I purchased one electric ride on motor bike for my grandson for $79.10 including freight.

My bank account was charged for two motor bikes. Despite many emails asking for a refund, I have had no reply.

Searching on the inter-net I saw they have had problems with the ACCC promising to correct their mistakes?
Why Is this company still operating after so many complaints?
And why has the ACCC not done more to investigate this fraud?

Soldsmater, Your math cannot justify here!

Other retailers have retail shops that customers can walk in and buy. They are also there to receive complaints and rectify problems properly and successfully. But on the other hand, Soldsmart doesn't even has phone number to contact and doesn't care about complaint and loam free to cheat people money.

My math is that the massive sold about 100, 000 products on eBay and probably 150, 000 through their website, must be a good Rip Off business even .0001% can easily make many RipOff millions a year. Great business to you CEO Alex Popyrin.

OK, lets do some maths. There are about 30 complaints (although 3 were supportive), so make that 27 complaints, over i believe about 4 years (April '08 to Feb '12)... So about 7 complaints a year on average (although most in 2008/2009). Soldsmart, over that same 4 year period are believed to have sold about 100, 000 products on eBay and probably 150, 000 through their website (total 250, 000). According to these results the complaint rates is 0.000108, or 1 /10, 000 ... oh, need a better calculator! The conclusion is that Soldsmart IS providing quality products 99.999% of the time, and if there are problems, then the vast majority are being fixed, solved, resolved, like most other companies (perhaps even better than most companies). But there are always going to be a few people who complain, and thats fair enough... Hundreds of people complain about Harvey Norman CLOSE HIM DOWN! they say... Hundreds of complaints about Officeworks - RIP OFF MERCHANTS MUST BURN! (lol) Deals Direct THE WORST SERVCE EVER ! they cry ... but Do the maths and you'll get some perspective.

I also have been diddled, I have noticed that there is a distinct pattern here, this company obviously purchases faulty damaged and seconds from distributors wanting very quick sales and turnover at a minimal price, so then Soldsmart sell to people like us as we the innocent and think the items at a great price! How wrong we all have been. that's why a replacement never happens. Therefore there is never any response to any emails wanting a return address for a replacement Go figure!

Hmm, this doesn't look good. I live in Sydney and I've been waiting 3 weeks for the delivery of an item advertised as being in stock in Sydney, so I'd best not hold my breath waiting. (In fact their warehouse appears to be about 20 minutes from my house, so not a big call).

I was curious as to why soldsmart has no phone number, so spent a few minutes researching. The phone number listed in comments above is correct, and the address in Ingleburn is probably their warehouse. There is an address of Unit 502, Level 5, 7-9 Merriwa St, Gordon, NSW, listed as the registered office of Kyberguard Pty Ltd, which is probably where Alex Popyrin (sole director) has his office.

Reading all the online complaints about soldsmart and the public domain records of Alex's career history - ISP exec, banker and now on-line retail, (possibly also e-commerce sw distributorship via www.kerp.biz, plus who knows what else), suggests he's probably fairly switched on regarding on-line technology and is commercially confident, but doesn't actually give a crap about the customers or service - he's just utilising the expanding on-line retail space to draw in unsuspecting buyers, for minimal cost, risk and effort to himself and for maximum profit.

Buy from this company with caution.

Do not buy from them. They ripped us off, too. I bought an extention ladder for $115 incl. postage. One of the legs is bent and it does not even stand. I tried to call their number. Of course not connected. This guy called "Mike" finally responded to my email but same story as the other people. After over 10 messages from me, I got no answer from Mike. Never buy anything from them. They only send you faulty products. I don't want anyone to go through this. They have to be closed down.

My name is Andrew and I have been working at SoldSmart.com.au for a number of years. My aim here is to provide a reasonably transparent image of our company from a current member of staff, and to dispel the accusations that we are fraudulent.

Firstly I want to make clear that I don't work in the area of customer support, so I am not 100% familiar with their procedures. My role is search engine optimization and search engine marketing, and I never deal with the customers directly. However, since I have been a part of this company for a number of years, I am familiar with the way the business works.

Given that our main focus is to provide a wide variety of products at the lowest reasonable price, our profits margin is rather low. This means that our staff resources are limited. Our small team of customer support staff simply isn't equipped to deal with telephone enquiries.

Picture the scenario: imagine one customer support team member who has been assigned 200 'easy' email enquiries to reply to, and 20 'difficult' email enquiries to reply to. An average difficult email may take ten to 15 minutes to compose, given that this staff member may have to refer to the database, view the product information, distill that information, and provide a solution to the enquiry. 20 multiplied by 15 is 300 minutes, or 5 hours. Easy emails may only take 15 to 30 seconds to answer. 15 seconds is a quarter of a minute, so 0.25 multiplied by 200 gives 50 minutes. For convenience let's call that an hour. In 6 hours then, a customer support rep can respond to 200 easy emails and 20 difficult emails. That's working at full speed in a robotic manner, which is unrealistic to expect from any human being. Add an hour to that figure for things like going to the bathroom, grabbing a drink of water, conversing with workmates, stretching, whatever it is people do in the office, and you have 7 hours. Add another hour for lunch, and you have an 8 hour shift.

Now imagine this same staff member needs to respond to enquiries by telephone. From past observation I know that the time required to field phone enquiries can range from a couple of minutes to 45 minutes. Imagine that this staff member must respond to 20x2 minute calls, 10x5 minute calls and 3x20 minute calls. That's about 150 minutes of calls to respond to. Consider also that calls do not all arrive consecutively, but often arrive concurrently. This means we would need to install a switchboard system with an auto-holding mechanism. This also means that, given limited staff numbers, people with telephone enquiries may be forced to hold for long periods of time.

The fact is if we were to advertise our telephone number on our site, we would be deluged by calls, which would be completely untenable for us. Regardless, we still receive a small phone calls even though we don't advertise our number.

We are certainly not in the business of defrauding people. I don't know much about our refund processes or returns processes. I do know that we have 1000 product types in our range, and it costs a lot of money to maintain that extensive range. If 1 product, for example, is damaged, we need to sell 10 units to make up for the loss. I imagine that the customer support system takes this into account so as not to pay refunds for spurious enquiries. Believe me, there are plenty of people out there who are more than happy to ask us for a refund even though they have received the product and it is in working order. There are also plenty of people who are happy to claim that an item has not arrived, even though they have indeed received it, and request a refund. The key is to find a balance between responding effectively to legitimate enquiries and protecting ourselves from the unreasonable ones.

The majority of our products do reach our customers in working order, and are of merchantable quality. There are also products which reach our customers in an unacceptable condition - the product may have been faulty from the start, it may have been damaged during shipping to Australia, or it may have been damaged during transit from our warehouse to the customer's address. The majority of our products arrive from overseas in sealed boxes, and we do not open the boxes to test the products. Product testing and checking is done at the initial product sample stage - we view the sample, we okay it, and then we order. If a box is clearly damaged then we remove the unit from stock and discard it. However, if a box is in a reasonable condition, we will of course sell the product.

We employ third party shipping services such as Australia Post and Toll to deliver our products. This means that once we hand over our products to the shipping service, delivery time is out of our control. We do provide tracking numbers once the shipping companies have made these available. Any delivery time quoted is an estimate. Given this, we are unable to ensure that a product will reach our customers on a particular day. Some customers stay home on a particular day in order to wait for a product to arrive. Our customer support staff would never tell a customer that a product will arrive on a particular day, they will only provide a delivery time-frame. If a customer support staff member doed tell a customer that a product will arrive on a particular day, that staff member is wrong to do so. What the shipping companies tell customers, however, is beyond our control. If Toll chooses to tell a customer that a package will arrive on a particular day and it doesn't arrive, there really is nothing we can do about it except lodge a complaint with Toll.

There are also occasional warehouse issues. Some boxes may be labelled incorrectly, which means there are times when customers will receive the incorrect product. Some product labels are also very similar - imagine you are a warehouse person who has already picked 100 heavy boxes from the warehouse shelf. You're tired, and you need to finish the pick before the delivery truck comes. Now you need to pick an item with label TR0001. However, TR0001 may have been placed beside TB0001 on the shelves. Inadvertantly, you take TB0001 instead - it's an easy enough mistake to make. These things do happen - it is part of working with people. People are not infallibe.

We do have nearly a 99% satisfaction rating on eBay across nearly 200, 000 transactions, and I believe it would be valid to translate a similar rating to our online store www.SoldSmart.com.au. It would be impossible for us to have such a rating across so many transactions if we were a fraudulent company. You can view our eBay feedback rating here: http://tinyurl.com/3mh9a44 . On eBay we use the username lenycik because the name SoldSmart hadn't even been decided upon when the eBay account was created in 2004.

We have been in business since 2004, and are registered with the ATO for GST. We trade as SoldSmart under KYBERGUARD PTY LTD. Our ABN is: [protected].

I am the first to admit that our company and our processes are far from perfect, but given the sheer volume of work as a function of our low staffing levels, we do try our best to balance time and money constraints vs service quality vs providing low prices. We are a genuine company based in Australia, and for anybody to say otherwise... well, they are misinformed.

If anybody feels that they have had / are having a negative experience with our company, I would like you to email me. I cannot promise that I will be able to provide you with a solution given that I am not with customer support and am not authorized to provide refunds, product replacements etc. (remember, I am responsible for the search engine marketing), but I can relay your message to customer support in a more direct manner.

I will immediately delete abusive, angry, threatening messages. I'll always be friendly when I reply to you, and I do ask the same in return.

wholesale(at)soldsmart.biz

Finally, although I can't speak for the entire company, I would like to offer an apology to those whom we haven't provided a positive experience.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Don't buy from them. I bought a $200 ride on remote control car for my son's birthday. It cam with damaged parts, incomplete instructions and not enough parts to put it together completely. I paid for more screws and left off parts not required, but the controller did not work. Their advice was to find any old electrical mechanic and get them to put it together (as they thought I didn't know what I was doing). Another $100 later the mechanic confirmed what I was sure of, the controller did not work. Around 20 emails and 6 months later still nothing. They first said I could get a $50 refund. I got nothing. Then later they agreed to $70 refund and sending replacement parts. I still have nothing. Their latest email states "Unfortunately, the assembly of the item is the responsibility of the purchaser and we are unable to provide further assistance with the set up and connection of the item".
Again, don't buy from them.
I'm off to find out how to get this webpage top of Google ranks.

All I can say to anyone reading this is do NOT buy from this seller, they are beyond disgusting. Words can not explain the awful service. I brought an item from them it turned up broken not painted right & they offer me $20 back. The product is poor quality so I ask for it to be returned and they will not give me a refund on this faulty item. Just out of interest has anyone ever been given a refund from this cheating company who sent out [censor] products?

About to get ripped off...

I purchased a swivel head carpet cleaner and thought Id done my cash after not getting a reply to my email. I eventually found the email from them in my Junk Mail and was offered a replacement.
I decided to go to the warehouse personally as it was only about 20 mins away and they had provided the warehouse address. I was actually surprised to see a fully functioning warehouse operating and the staff I saw were all Australian.
I got my replacement and asked if they had trouble with products alot and the guy helping me said they had no more trouble than any other company and said they ship out over 1, 000 products each week. So if there are 4, 000 items a month moving from this warehouse and they are fraudulent and dodgy, I'd expect hundreds of complaints rather than 10 or 12 over 18 months.
I thought I was about to be ripped off but after seeing their warehouse and talking to a staff member I think that these complaints are just an unlucky few and not representative of 99% of people dealing with these guys.
The replacement carpet cleaner only lasted about 9 months (lol) but I got good use out of it and dont blame soldsmart for the crappy chinese quality.

I agree with the above observations regarding this very dodgy company. They are absolute rip-off merchants and have defrauded me of $450. The items I purchased were not the items received and they refused my request for a refund. I now have 6 chairs in a completely different colour to the ones I ordered and paid for. I have reported them to Consumer Affairs but do not hold out much hope that this will alter the outcome. Do not buy from this company!
Note: My emails were responded to in broken English and virtually the only positive report about Soldsmart in this forum is written in the same broken English. Soldsmart do you really think we're that gullible!

Very dodgy sellers. I purchased an item from them and paid insurance as well.
Item arrived damaged/unusable so cotacted them by email. Took 4 emails over several days before I received an answer. They asked me to email pictures of the damage, and they kept saying they hadn't received them, even after sending them 4 times. I could foreward the same email onto others who received them ok. Then I added negative feedback to ebay about them and filed a paypal claim. They then emailed me and said that they would help, but only if I removed the nedative feedback. They offered me a few dollars refund if I kept the item, but I email them back and told them the petrol motor was broken and was unable to be used (casting broken and fuel tank split) and wanted a replacement or refund as I had paid insurance. No more communication from them. These guys are crooks. Yes Paypal will refund my money, but only if I ship the motor back to them, but this will cost more than half the total cost I paid for it $240.00. So don't bother with paypal as well. Spoke to ebay, because I consider this is fraud by them offering insurance, but they won't act on it, and they weren't interested.
"They are a power seller, they can't do wrong"" What a joke.

I am in the midst of a bad SoldSmart experience. I ordered a $192 multi-level cat enclosure, but was sent an open-topped hexagonal animal cat (which any self-respecting cat would jump out of in a second). More suitable for rabbits or guinea-pigs. Both items are on their website, but I have had the usual run-around with them requiring photographs, stating that the item may not look like the picture, etc. SoldSmart they are in breach of the Fair Trading Act - items sold must be fit for purpose, and clearly what I have been supplied with (which retails on their website for less than what I paid for the cat enclosure) is not able to be substituted with the item I ordered. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER deal with them again!

Ordered the product and paid via PayPal, a service used by SoldSmart. Despite the money being transferred to their account, SoldSmart kept on bombarding me with overdue payment reminder notices. I provided all the evidence that the payment had been made and credited to their account. After futile attempt to resolve the issue with their robotic sales person, I had to send half a dozen e-mails to cancel the order because SoldSmart because of their archaic accounts system would not have been able to deliver the product on time. After the order appeared as cancelled on my order page on SoldSmart's website, I had to run around for a refund and all failing; I had to lodge a PayPal dispute. PayPal was successful in getting this refund for me.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. This company does not have a phone number and are unethical in their dealings. Golden rule: AVOID, AVOID and AVOID.

Soldsmart are ridiculous... i bought a red police 6v jeep for my sons 4th birthday which we had delivered exactly on his birthday as a surprise ...I opened the box to find a hot pink Dream Dazzler jeep?
I sent an email and they pretty much said too bad the pictures are for illustration purposes ( which it says no where on their site)...so when you order something from them it doesnt mean you will get that item... I have a BOY if it was a different jeep in a boy colour...ok... but a HOT PINK jeep...come on... they told us to sell it on ebay if we didnt want it. this is obviously how they make thier money...put any pic up and when people choose that one...doesnt matter give em any old one that suits them.
I will continue my battle on trying to get this fixed as my son was left with NO BIRTHDAY present (we only get the kids one big major present for their birthday) How heartbroken was he...NOT GOOD SOLDSMART...but hey lets face it they dont care...

Hi, I purchased an electric ride-on jeep for my 2 year old it cost $199.00. The jeep arrived in a box that looked like it had been through the wringer, on opening the box the jeep inside wasn't in any packaging & was smashed in two different places, then it wouldn't charge. devasted, I contacted Soldsmart only to be told to send photo's etc etc. Twelve emails later I have still heard nothing so I contacted Fair Trading, they contacted "mike" at soldsmart only to be told that they tried to rectify this problem with me, this is a lie! Fair Trading then sent me forms so I could lodge a complaint with Consumer, Trader & Tenancy Tribunal, I sent in the complaint along with a $33 fee... I have now been told I have to send them the address of Soldsmart (which I can't get, even their phone isn't connected) or the application can't be dealt with. What a joke, so now I'm out've pocket another $33? I can't beleive that these people can rip off consumers like you & I & we don't have a leg to stand on. Something needs to be done about this company!

I have nothing to say but DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM SOLDSMART.

I too have just had a bad experience with Soldsmart (smart alright, they rip people off!). I thought I would do my sister-in-law a favour and help her choose a birthday gift for her grandson. I saw kids ride-on cars on Soldsmart and thought "what a bargain" and showed my sister-in-law who was excited and so I went ahead and purchased it for her. We did get the promised "free delivery" but it did come later than promised (which they did explain was due to the Xmas rush, understandably). However, putting the car together by following the instructions (if you can call them that!) was very challenging (I agree with Jason Rogers regarding the instructions, they were either written by a five year old or were translated word for word from another language which ends up not making any sense at all!). I charged the car for the recommended hours and it doesn't work. I've been emailing them with no avail ( I get repetitive emails) and then am told in one of their emails to have a detailed report filled in by an electrician or mechanic detailing the problem! That means I have to go out, find an electrician (or do I need an auto-electrician?) pay him/her the money for something that isn't my fault? And in the end I might not get anywhere with them based on the feedback from this site. Any good comments about them might either be posted by them or some of their friends or relatives is what I think. We need to band up and close companies that rip people (and kids) off like Soldsmart. This experience has put off my sister-in-law from purchasing on-line for good (it was her first on-line purchase). I feel bad as it was myself who drew her attention towards Soldsmart.

I have purchased off internet companies before (ie, dealsdirect, factoryfast and oo.com which have excellent customer service) but NEVER AGAIN FROM SOLDSMART.

We have been buying from this company for 2 years now and no issues that we could not resolve. Once the manual did't arrive and it was promptly emailed to us upon request. Recommended.

The worst I have ever dealt with I won a airhose reel on ebay with this company went to pay thru paypal as stated on the page. They would not accept it, the email i received went like like this
Use your credit card it take to long thru paypal .
after 10 or more emails and going thru disputes with eBay i canceled the deal.
They left me with neg feedback stating i did not want to resolve they have since changed it to we get paypal pament all the time blah blah blah.
The worst ever company (IF
they even deserve to be called that) I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.
STAY AWAY AND LET OTHERS KNOW.
I have emailed all my friends about this and they have forwarded it on to there friends.

Hello,

I have purchased products from this company and have been a pleasent experience.

They operate on a thin profit margin. This maybe the reason that they have a limited staff to resolve the issue. However, if you are buying a generator worth $500.00 in just $50.00, it is not fair to expect a refund if your item has been damaged in transit.

I recommened soldsmart to everyone who wants to purchase quality items at cheapest cost in Australia.

We should all get together and work out a way to have this company shut down.

I bought an ultrasonic cleaner CD-2800 that took 2 months for delivery after a lot of where is my item emails.

It worked the first two times I used it, then nothing. Soldsmart gave me the usual run around like they have done to everybody else on this site. No phone number and they say they can't call me (makes me wonder how they communicate with their suppliers). I received no recept no warranty card and there is no company info on the box in English (cheap Chinese crap) to contract either.

I am $60 out of pocket and deeply frustrated that I can't get some justice. Maybe if everybody contacts the department of fair trading?

This company is bad news. They lie, they rip people off and then pretend that they can't help. Hopefully karma will catch up soon and they will put themselves out of business with their lack of customer service.

Have sent several emails giving information they asked for, due to a minor mistake on my behalf, which I forgot to write in the tranfer order Number, Instead I wrote in the Item in Words with their Company Name.
After sending in 6 emails on a daily basis, letting them know of this mistake and corrected the details how to find our payment.
I get same answer over and over and over, just a repeative email sent back to me again and again.
I am supious now til I see something more genuine that the same answer all the time asking me put down the reference etc I used.
WHAT A HASSLE AND A COMPANY MUST BE RUN BY PRE-KINDY if they can understand a simple email and all they can do is copy the same email back to me all the time. OH YEAH BY THE WAY STILL NO PRODUCT $48.95 in TOTAL.
DISCUSSED WITH THIS COMPANY.

I bought a walking frame from Soldmart on 3rd of April. Delivery time was excellent. It arrived at my home on 6th April however on opening the box, which contained no instructions for assembly by the way I found that the walker was damaged. One part was completely sheared off from the main frame. I e-mailed Soldsmart immediately & they replied on the same day sending me a form to fill out with details of my purchase & advising me to attach photos of the damage & e-mail it back to them. I did this within the week & have continued doing so several times over the last week. The e-mail keeps bouncing back. Obviously I bought the walking frame because I need it & am fed up with lack of response to my complaint.Very nervous at the possibility of spending money I can ill afford on a product which as it is is totally useless. Buyers beware!

Hi, great site,

Because of their attitude I felt sure I was not the only one being ripped off by soldsmart.com.au

This site confirms my suspicions.

I bought a model RC helicopter from them for $57.95 including postage on the internet. After a few minutes of noisy erratic static running it packed it in & now there is no response at all. There is no external fault. I thought no problem (after reading their BS customer care) they will replace it or refund my money. How naive can you be!

I sent an email explaining the problem & talk about stalling tactics ! First they wanted photos (because the fault was external !) & a quote for repairs from a mechanic (I am an Automotive Engineer & would not have a clue how to fix it).
Then they said photos & quotes were not required if the item cost under $150 . Next email they wanted photos again. I have now lost count of the emails I sent. They send the same emails over & over & ask the same questions. I persevered & they did offer me money starting at $15 & raising it but not to the full value. Even if I did agree I doubt I would ever have seen the money because they are such shonks.

Why doesn't the goverment shut them down ?
They appear to treat Fair Trading as a joke.

Could we have a Class Action to shut them down ?

There is far more to this storey but it is getting a little long.

Regards, Ron.

Absolutely awful company to deal with. "Anna" in customer service provided absolutely no help to me when I asked a simple question about the dimensions on an item - I was told to look in the product description, which of course didn't have the dimensions - precisely the reason I bothered writing an email in the first place, must be a bunch of ###s working there - very disappointing as I was very interested in buying something from them. Any company that wont give out a phone number seems suss! Sorry to hear you got screwed Jayson, but thank you for taking the time to post your complaint as now I will be certain not to buy anything from this piss poor excuse for a company.
