"$500 in free gas" induced me to purchase new Kia Rio. However, later learned to collect would need to use $125/month in gas. Impossible driving a Kia on a small Island. SecureGasRedemption's website mentions "alternate gifts" for those unable to buy this month gas month. I have sent 3 E-mails and phoned them once to get more info on the "alternate gifts", but get no response. Kia makes a good car and I can't imagine why Kia-America would want to be involved with such a blantant, deceptive scam as this.

Just forwarded FreeBee Gas latest lie "we're awaiting gas cards from gas companies" to Florida Attorney General. Attached thereto was E-mail from Conoco Phillips to me stating "we are not associated with this company". Florida Attorney General E-mail response to me was that they have a "meeting" scheduled with Freebee Gas to address the numerous complaints against this company. Ultimately, I plan to pursue my claim for $500 free gas against the local Kia Dealer, via small claims court if necessary. Scams like this thrive only because too many folks choose to whine and do nothing, rather than fight back.

The Pinellas Department of Justice and Consumer Services has opened a criminal investigation into the company, Tidewater Marketing Global Consultants Inc., and its president, Crystal Marie Clark.

I too have been fustrated with this program. I bought (had to pay to register) into this program when buying a dinning table and chairs from Ashley Furniture. I offered the manager cash to reduce the asking price. He said he could not reduce the price but would provide us a better deal-$500 in free gasoline -the same program others have entered through different participaants. Anyway, I have submitted all my proof of gasoline purchases on time and received confirmation from their office in Largo that my credit card receipts qualified me for cash redemption cards, however I have never received any cash cards. I tried calling Largo a couple of weeks ago and their telephone number has been disconnected. Then I went on line and it mentioned that they were having troubles with their telephones. So today I went on line to see if there phones had been fixed and now I find that there website is gone-no phone, no emails, and no cash redemption cards. I hold Ashley as responsible as they talked me into buying into this program while supposedly getting 500 dollars off their dinning table. I will never go back to Ashley, but I would also like to see the group in Largo be accountable.

FINALLY! Take a look at this:

Friday February 13th, 2009
Marketing Company Sued over Allegations of Deceptive Marketing
Tidewater Marketing Global Consultants, Inc., a Florida corporation located in Pinellas, and the company’s president, Crystal Clark, are named in the lawsuit.

http://www.fosterfollynews.com/news/2009Feb13MarketingCompanySuedoverAllegationsofDeceptiveMarketing.php

Here is the nitty gritty:

"The lawsuit was filed under Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act. Civil penalties against the company and Clark could include an injunction prohibiting them from engaging in this conduct, a requirement for consumer restitution, a $10, 000 civil fine for each violation, and payment of attorneys’ fees and costs."

I have been saying this needed to happen for a long time now and the FL States Attorney General finally IS trying to make it RIGHT!

So to all of those that want to recover what we are rightfully owed... and get some of that "consumer restitution", if you have complaints about this company call the Attorney General’s fraud hotline at [protected] or file a complaint online at http://myfloridalegal.com and tell them you want on the list to get it.

I have been scammed. The terms are not difficult to comply with. But after they took my registration fee and sent me my coupons they have yet to send me a single has card. It have been 4 months! Their phone is disconnected and e-mail bounces. Web site is still active but that doesn't mean anything.

I'm contacting their hosting site Administrator to see if he will suspend their site until they take action. No point in them getting any more suckers.

I totally agree with all complaints. In July 2008, I began sending in the gas receipts and vouchers. Since then, I have done the same every month through January 2009. Thus far, I received only 2 cards for July and August submission of receipts only after I had called to complain and find out what was going on. The rebate cards are a real pain to redeem also. Around October or November, after having no communication (not even the confirmation emails I received in the beginning saying I was doing every thing right and explaining the policy regarding delivery of the cards to me), I spoke to a young woman who said they had received all of my submissions and were reviewing them at that time. Still nothing to date. Now that I hear their phone was disconnected, I am hopping mad. Looks like I need to take the next step. Marlene

Feb 5, 2009 - still haven't received my VISA gift cards as promised by Laura L Edwards from FreeBeeGas.com (aka GasolineRedemption.com). I was told the cards would be mailed out no later than January 15, 2009. My gas receipts usually arrive (from Canada) to Florida within 2-5 days..how come I'm being quoted 7-14 BUSINESS DAYS for my cards to arrive?

Will the cards ever arrive? Not sure. Don't think so. Always hopeful!

Sounds like Ashley Furniture (Canada) is switching to a different voucher processing company. I would have to guess (they) have received way too many complaints from angry customers.

I noticed on the website that the company says the gas card will arrive in 54 BUISINESS days. That means that the company could take almost 3 months to send your first card. I have not gotten a gas card yet and I started sending them around November. But for a few minutes of my time and a few stamps, I will keep sending them the reciepts. Whats the harm?

I too have been scammed by Free Gas Redemption. I just filed a complaint with the FL BBB, but I doubt it will come to anything. Received my brochure from NTB in Atlanta. Payed my $5 on 10/3/08 and sent my 1st set of receipts in November in plenty of time for the deadline of the 25th. They claimed to have received both my Nov. & Dec. receipts after the 25th (yeah sure) which then gives them 54 days to send the gas card to me instead of 25. But if you'll do the math, 54 days from the end of Nov. should still net me 1 redemption card by the beginning of February. Of course, nothing. I too have gotten nothing but a busy signal when I attempt to call the two 800 #s I have for them. This is all a big rip-off and a joke. The only reason I even thought this might be legit was that the initial information came from a reputable Co. Also - if they had asked for more than $5 up-front, I would have never sent them anything. That's what they were counting on. These ### have made a ton of $ off of us.

I represent a company that deals in free gas and groceries in the $100-$500 denomination. Using the $25 rebate for $100 spent, however does not have to be in the same month and entails the whole household and not just one car. Also, currently there is no $5.00 registration.

As in every business there are scammers and also legitimate companies.

Yes, a scam it is...

I have been attempting to get my gas cards since July, 6 months now. My first contact with the company was 10/22 after I had submitted my initial $5.00 and 3 months worth of mailing original receipts. A recording came on each time asking me to wait until finally I had to leave a message. Believe it or not I did get a call back from a "James" on 11/13 who confirmed they had my 3 months of receipts but he was not the processing department but he would let them know that I still had not received my $25 gas cards.
On 11/20 I called again and just got a recording saying that they were behind in processing their gas cards and to be patient.
On 11/28 I received another call from "rep 67", once again confirming that he had my receipts and would be personally mailing out my gas cards. I told him I would beleive it when I got them. He didnt like that response.
On 12/30, still no cards, again I attempted to call but got no answer but a message saying that a new phone system was installed so please call back next week. How convenient.
1/6/09 I called again and the phone just rings and rings and eventually goes to a fast busy. I then sent them a email from their web site and have never hearld back from anyone, although the auto response from my email said someone would respond to me within 48 hours.
1/7/09 I filed a complaint with the Flordia BBB. It is then that I found out they had hundreds of complaints. Lesson learned, I should have checked with the BBB first. It would have saved me alot of time.
1/30/09 I thought I would do a serach on their web site and low and behold, a new web site, a different name but same address and phone number. A phone call only gets you a fast busy. Thats when I found this list of many others who have had similar experiences.
It is shameful that a company can get away with this. Then again look at all the other corruption that is going on in the United States. I guess it should'nt be a surprise. How sad.
Good luck everyone. Cardless in California.

Free Gas Redemption is a SCAM! I complied with the rules and regulations of sending receipts of $100. per month, before the 25th day of each month. I have been doing this since November and have not received the $25. gas card, as promised. I have attempted, several times to contact the Free Gas Redemption Company with only hearing "all circuits are busy"! I have contacted the dealership, and he tells me that he has contacted his corporate attorneys and sent a letter. What a SCAM! Any ideas of our next steps?

I have decided to share a few of the emails that went on between myself and Laura:
I was mistaken when I said the cards would be mailed out by the 2nd of January. In my email from her I see she says the cards will be mailed out by the 15th of January and that she has no clue when I would receive them!

Also note her email address!

This is the last thing she told me:

All cards will be shipped by the 15th. Can’t tell you when you will receive them.

Laura,

So I can expect to receive October and Nobember Visa cards by January 15, 2009? Now I can't remember if she said I have to wait 5-7 business days or 7-10 business days; I'll count it as 7-10 business days, which puts it at January 15th.

The girl I was speaking to make it very clear I was being sent 3 cards because of the hassles I have already been put through. She was very clear in stating 3 cards would be sent out and the reason for 3 cards is because of the problems I have had thus far.

Although a SQL Server system crash is not within the realms of your responsibility or control, I still feel as though your end of the contract has not been reasonably enforced and such contract should be deemed "broken". I am "punished" if I do not send in my monthly receipts by the 25th of the month yet no penalty is put forth to your company when you fail to send out a gift card within 28 business days.

As for the email I received in December, I received on dated December 15th (when you and I spoke on the phone) and another on December 19th. I have to assume the first email was generated because you manually updated my receipts as being received. I'm not sure why the second email came through.

Perhaps it would be helpful to include in the email sent out to a customer the month the received submission is for.

I guess I will just have to wait it out to see if my 2 visa gift cards actually do arrive in the mail by the 15th of January.
Given the simplicity of submitting my monthly receipts tracking my monthly gift cards is starting to become a nightmare.

Hi , I understand your confusion. The reason you rec’d an email regarding your November receipts when you did is because if you recall, I told you that they were not in our system so I personally marked them in so if we didn’t show them in the system, you would not have gotten an email until I marked them good. I still do not show that we have rec’d your December receipts, so I just marked them received.

I did tell you we were getting the Oct card to you. Unfortunately when we merged the new database with the old database, we ran into a bunch of technical issues. That has since been worked out and all cards that are due are to be shipped this month. The December card will not be in that batch b/c I cannot change the date of the database so it is showing received today so it will be picked up in our Jan 25 sweep and sent to you by 28 days from that day.

On Dec. 30th the person you spoke with was speaking out of line. The memo the cust svc reps are supposed to inform you about was that all cards due will start shipping by Jan 2nd and get shipped this month. I apologize for that misinformation.

I appreciate your patience and apologize profusely for the problems you have had regarding our program. We are diligently working to get everything running smoothly and fulfill our customers.

Hi Laura,
I'm a bit confused and, now, even more upset.

I received a call December 30th informing me I will be receiving 3 gas gift cards within 5-7 business days. These cards represent October, November and December receipt submissions.

When I talked to you on December 15th, on the phone, you stated you were mailing out the October gift card. You also noted my November receipts as being received.

Near the end of December I received an email confirming receipt of my November gas receipts!

I mentioned to the girl who called what you had said - that my October gift card was in the mail. She simply said that the card had not been mailed.
So here I am waiting patiently for my card to arrive (one that was supposedly never sent.)

Here we are January 5, 2009 and I'm still waiting for some normalcy.

I was also put off with the email I received (for my November receipt submission.) I sent those receipts in with enough time to reach you before the 25th of the month (in November) yet I didn't receive a confirmation email until late December. That effectively means I would have to wait 56 business days to receive the gift card for November. I feel that is totally unacceptable. But given the fact this girl (Michelle?) said I would be receiving all 3 gift cards right away, I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens!

I sure do hope your company is able to get things in order. And soon!
By way of the "contract", you have broken your agreement (by not being able to supply me with a card each month within 28 business days!)

When I spoke with Laura (back on December 15, 2008), she told me she was personally going to put my October gas gift card in the mail; that I should receive the card within 1 week.
Geez..it's already January 7, 2009 and surprise, surprise, no card yet.
Update:
I received a call from a CSR from tidewater on December 30, 2008 informing me the company is in the process of mailing out 3 gift cards to me (for October, November and December) for all my troubles with the promotion.
On Monday January 5, 2009, I emailed Laura regarding the phone call - remember, I was under the impression at least one card was already in the mail!) She said the CSR was misinformed, which she then misinformed me. When I questioned her about the card she promised to drop in the mail, I was told she in fact hadn't mailed the card because there were problems right around that time, when they were merging the SQL servers. Uh...yeah...sure.
Laura told me that only two cards were being mailed out to me, and they would be sent out by January 2, 2009.

I did say in one of my last emails to her that her company has broken their side of the agreement (contract) as they were not able to mail out my gas cards within the promised 28 business day window. She did not respond to that part of my email! Of course not.

I'm giving this company the benefit of the doubt one more time. I will be raising hell should I not receive at least one of my cards within 7-10 business days (starting January 2, 2009). I should see at least one card no later than January 15, 2009...but honestly, I'm not holding my breath that the card(s) will arrive.

I'm at a lose as to what to believe.
I have no problems holding Ashley Furniture 100% responsible should I not receive the cards as promised.

THERE HAS TO BE MANY OTHER INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY THIS PROMOTION...AND MANY SHOULD RESIDE IN CANADA.

Well, "Should Have Known Better", I really do hope that the story they are telling you is correct. But, if you read this little article you might think again.

Seems, according to this report... just a few weeks ago their General Manager was Jim Barnes NOT Laura L Edwards. I don't think there is one real name other than Crystal Clark that any of us really knows for sure.

Now, here's the kick in the teeth for ALL of us that got ripped off by Freebee, Freebie, gasredemption or whatever name they are going by today.

I found it online at this URL:

Largo company's gas cards too good to be true?
By Ivan Penn, Times staff writer
In print: Saturday, November 22, 2008

"State Attorney General Bill McCollum wants you to know that his agency has an active consumer-related investigation into Tidewater Marketing's business practices.

At issue is one of Tidewater's latest offers of gas cards that often are provided through tire companies and other retailers or over the Internet via such sites as freegasredemption.com, freebeegas.com, freegasvoucher.com and gasolineredemption.com.

McCollum's office opened an investigation in July after complaints began pouring in from consumers who said they did not receive the free gas cards they expected.

Jim Barnes, general manager of Largo's Tidewater Marketing, says the problem isn't the company's fault. He said consumers aren't fulfilling their obligations

"People just don't give stuff away, " Barnes said. "The general public sometimes is very stupid."

-------------------------

Did the GENERAL MANAGER of a company under investigation for unfair business practices just call all of us STUPID?

I think he and the owners of Tidewater should take a look in the mirror.

If you haven't already contacted the FL States Attorney General, do it now and let's show this company they cannot rip us off and call us stupid while they go about doing it!

And while you're at it, contact the WA States Attorney General with your complaints too. Seems, they may also be interested in looking into this company. Be sure to reference the FL case #: L08-3-1160

Enough is enough with this company!

I too was scammed by this deal, but spend almost $900 in new tires thinking I would "get reimbursed" eventually for $500 of it in gas. I have sent my receipts in religiously and have received nothing! I started the program in August! They respond to my emails as "We have received your vouchers and receipts in good order. You should have your cards shortly. Now I can't get their website to work to get a phone number! I am VERY upset by this scam, and that dealerships and tire companies get involved with them!

The gas redemption program is awesome. I have been getting my cards on time but it is through
free fuel center which is a different company. My sister did it first and we go them from a car dealer here in Oregon.
Thi is like saying because on furniture store ripped me off they are all bad. NOT TRUE AT ALL. I found out the company that sold the dealer the certificates and the website is www.asaagency.com so if you are going to complain make sure you let people know it was not Free fuel center or www.asaagency.com because they have made good on everything.

**For Canada Submitters**

Purchased some furniture from Ashley's Furniture in Edmonton, Alberta about 2 1/2 months ago. Was told by the salesperson that I could receive up to $500 in gas cards if I spent over $1, 000.00. To top that offer off, I was also given a mail-in rebate for $100.00 (direct from Ashely's Furniture, I'm told), so my initial purchase of $1, 000.00 could be mine for $400.00 (about $100.00 less than I was originally going to spend on kids furniture.) The deal sounded too good to be true!
It's been 36 BUSINESS WORKING DAYS since FreeBeeGas received my FIRST gas redemption coupon. Their website clearly states I should receive my card in 28 days (if received within their posted guidelines.) Hmmmm...
I have not been provided with a toll-free number, and the 1-800 number posted on their website does not work in my calling area. Nice!
I called Ashley's Furniture and spoke to one of their managers. I was informed the store manager is in the process of investigating this mishap. I believe Ashley's Furniture is based out of the United States, which could be the reason they went for this promotion in the first place. Although the registration form states that Ashley's Furniture cannot be held liable, I believe they can and should be held accountable. It's their reputation on the line. If this is a scam, and Ashley's decides to do nothing for their customers, I certainly will never purchase a single item from their stores again, and I may contemplate contacting the local news media to bring this scam to light.
I see FreeBeeGas.com (directs you to www.gasonlineredemption.com) is back on line today (it wasn't yesterday).
I signed up at FreeBeeGas.com (not gasonlineredemption.com)!

Nobody at Ashley's Furniture knew much about the promotion (which ran back in July or August, maybe September of 2008). I prefer to fill up at Esso, which was not recognized as a recognizable gas station. My choice then was to use Petro Canada.

Nice slap in the face for Ashley's Furniture!

Are there any other Canadians that have received the $500 gas redemption from Ashley's Furniture? Would be nice if you post your views/comments, and any outcome/resolution.

I've been going through the same hassle. I called from May through September, and they finally mailed me 4 cards. Now I am calling for Sept, Oct, and Nov. Their website is down for maintenance (so they say) and emails keep getting bounced back as undeliverable. Currently I am $95 to the good, so I guess I shouldn't complaint too much, but it really is a lot of hassle. I called the direct line in Florida @ [protected] and got directly through, but they said they were only the general answering line and I'd have to call the direct 1-800 number for info. A definite SCAM in Largo Florida--- 14100 Walsingham Road, Suite 36.

Free Gas Central OR GasRedemption.com

[protected] is a SCAM office. I've posted Sept, Oct and Nov receipts and nothing yet. They acknowledge with emails, but no on ever answers the phone. PLUS they 'stole' my $5 intro fee.

I also agreed to purchase my vehicle because of the $500 in free gas. (Which at the dealership was not explained that it was in $25 increments and I had to jump through alot of hoops first). My first problem was getting the certificates once I paid the $5 through PayPal. I never did get anything in the mail, but they emailed me a page of certificates to print out. After taht delay, my August receipts weren't received by them until 9-9-08. So, ok, that would be the 54 business days. That would put the Aug. card at Nov.25th. Now, the Sept. receipts and certificate were, according to the 'in good order' email, received on 9-25-08. That SHOULD qualify for the 28 business days, putting the date I should receive the gas card at Nov. 4th. I'm just worried because I have NEVER received anything through the mail from them, even the original certificates, which their email said to 'disregard' when (?!) I received them since I now had the email version.

I sent in my receipt and received an email saying We have received your receipts and they do not meet our requirements.

We will be returning your receipts to you by mail for corrections.

Your receipts had one or more of the following problems.

1. They are photocopies and our providers require the original receipts.

2. They are not all from the same gas brand.

3. The receipts are all from the same day from the same station.

4. The receipts have no station name, brand or address.

Please write the name and address of the station and return them.

5. Other You will receive a detailed discription when you receive your recepits

The excuse I think affected my submission was I sent in one receipt for over $100.00 as I drive a truck and gas here is over $5 a gallon(Canada). I do not see anywhere in the rules I was given where it says it has to be spread out and not on one receipt. Getting ready to mail in voucher #2 but it doesnt sound promising from what I've read here. I might have to contact Ashley furniture (where I received the voucher) if this one turns out to be bogus as well.

How does the old saying go? I think it is, "there's a sucker born every minute". Well I'm a sucker too. In July I received a key from an area automobile dealer with the chance of starting a new car with the key (1st sucker scam), and the inducement of the $150.00 of free gas for showing up ( 2nd sucker scam). I bit, and had to undergo the usual promotional spiel. I, of course, told the sales person I was really only interested in the $150.00 of free gas offered in the sales promotion letter I had received. They gave me a card from FreeBeeGas.com for the $150.00 of free gas. I contacted
FreeBeeGas.com via the Internet and they sent me 5 Redemption Coupon's good from August thru January.

I have sent in August, September, October and now November and am waiting patiently for my 4 $25.00 gift cards.

I have e-mailed them (nada-zilch), telephoned them (using their toll free number) and get their voice mail each time, and finally Googled their website. (which is why I am writing this). So good people you are not alone.

And now you know the rest of the story!

I purchased tires from Big O Tires. I was charged a very high price but after considering the Gas Card Rebates I felt it would be a good deal. I was very wrong. I have been sending in receipts for the rebates since June, 2008 and have never received any gas cards as promised. It is definitely a SCAM!

We paid our $5.00 fee after attending a 90-minute vacation seminar presentation last July. Everyone who attended this vacation seminar were promised to receive each month a $25 gas card with each month purchase of $100 gas. We selected to use Shell Gas and have mailed our voucher and gas receipts for August, September, and October to Fee Gas, 14100 Walsingham Road, Ste. 36 #12, Largo FL 33774. GUESS WHAT! We too as of November 24, 2008 have not received any $25 gas card from FeeBee Gas. When calling the 800-number listed on the initial gas instruction sheet, you receive a voice message stating that they are still working on July receipts. We too believe this is a fraud (scam) and we are going to contact the BBB in Florida to report this company.

This company has not lived up to the promise of sending $25 gas cards or Visa card when receiving $100 worth of gas receipts. I have been sending in receipts since August and have received nothing. I have emailed them and called them with no satisfaction. The email response said this was very unusual to have not received the $25 card and that my complaint would be forwarded to the proper person. In a telephone conversation, they said the cards would be mailed as soon as possible. I asked what the time line on "as soon as possible" is - no response, complete silence. I received my promise of $150 free gas through Grand Discovery - a sales promotion for travel. I have not reported them to the BBB or attorney general's office, but I think it is time I did.

This place is a joke. If there ever was a mom and pop business, this is it. I have called, and never can get to anyone. I've left messages with return phone number, and Never, received a return call. I to have gone on the web site, only to not be able to reach it. WHAT'S UP WITH THIS!

I've sent in 3 months worth of receipts, called, emailed, and still no action or response on thier part. I bought a bed and got "500 free gas". great deal, I thought. A bed for only 3oo when you think of it. I'm contacting the company I bought my bed from as well as BP and freebeegas.com with a letter of intent to file a lawsuit.

Just about a month ago, I received mail posted to Owner of Household and when I opened it, there was a sheet for a scratch and win. I scratched all 3 spots and I had won Free $150 worth of gas. To redeem it, i had to go to the Toyota dealership here in Hollywood, FL. I am always aware of possible scams. I am always the skeptic. But because it was Toyota giving this out, i thought well maybe it's legit since Toyota is a good and trusted company. When i went to the dealership, i was immediately bombarded by car salesmen, naturally, trying to sell me a car. I just wanted the $150 gas prize i won, i told them. After issuing me the card, (which mind you they never mentioned anything about sending the receipts) they insisted on selling me a car which i refused. When i read the fine print, it states "Receive $150 in free gas at the gas station of your choice by redeeming online at www.gasolineredemption.com. Recipient is entitled to receive a $25 gas card from the gas brand of their choice for every month they return $150 in gas receipts, up to the value of the voucher!" which in my case was $150. Theoretically that would take me 6 months to redeem it all. I was seconds from registering online until something told me to search online for fraud, perhaps it may not be true. And here it is...all the comments from all of you. Thank you! I just saved myself all the hassle. But i will still be reporting this to the BBB. I noticed that this is a new website not mentioned at all here... www.gasolineredemption.com must be another name they use as well. Same mailing address as somebody mentioned earlier (14100 Walsingham Rd in Largo, FL. Same company coming up with new websites. This is obviously a scam. I will be returning to the Toyota dealership to give them a piece of my mind for being responsible. It was clear, they got me to go visit the dealership and to buy a car. I already hate car salesmen, that just put the icing on the cake.

ps. Just a thought, does somebody live near this Largo, FL address to stop by and check them out? Why haven't the police investigated this address?

Something for nothing equals NOTHING. . . and that's what we are getting from Free Gas (yeah Right!) Redemption. I wonder if the car dealers who gave us the pretty colorful glossy cards figured out yet that this promotion is just another bad investment for the dealers. I'm sure they paid $$$$ for their cards and all of us who gave up the small fee of $5 all invested in this to pay for the telephone bank located who knows where. The US Postal Services Postal Inspectors may be able to help all of us if we let them know. They used the US Mails to promote a fraud and the Postal Service just might have the power and muscle to prosecute those involved. Especially that one guy who insisted that everyone else there who gave me information was wrong and couldn't possibly have told me that the information I received on e-mail was correct. What a group of dummies I joined believing that I could get something for NOTHING!

PS: No offense to those who joined us in sending our $5.

My complaint is exactly like cab1213. My first submission was the 1st week of Aug and to date I have received nothing. They did respond to an email inquiry a month ago stating my gift card should arrive is a few days. Nothing to date. I do feel the auto dealers share some responsibility for this as they use it as a promotion enticement.
