Second City Masonry is NOT a professional or reliable business. I was told that to complete all the work I wanted, it would cost $30,000 - $40,000. As I am selling the property, I told him I could not afford that. He offered a solution of filling in the cracks, putting a layer of concrete, and sealing everything. He said it would cosmetically improve the concrete and he could do everything for $3,000.
In reality, he slapped the work out in 6 hours. (He had said it would take 2 days) There are drips, missed spots, and no sealant. He also dumped leftover cement in the grass. When I tried to talk to him to get it corrected (15-month guarantee of work), he made excuses that his wife had COVID and he had to help her and it would take a while. When I tried to get a specific date when he could come out to fix everything, he stopped answering my texts and phone numbers. I enlisted the aide of CraftJack and then Networx, the Co. that gave him my number as a potential customer. They were sorry it happened, but offered no solution to my problem. My complaint includes these two companies as CraftJack was the website I looked on to get a quote. They did not have a cement guy, so they transferred the request to Networx., without my knowledge. Neither company is standing behind Second City Masonry. I don't understand that as they are the reason I went with him... I thought CraftJack screened their workers...
Desired outcome: I want a refund. Networx and CraftJack should split the $3,000 that was paid and return my money.
The Complaint Board has not been very helpful -- basically a place to vent. It was never resolved. I am still out the money; we had to make do with the results and took a lower offer for the house due to the cement situation. So not only did they walk away with my cash, but they were the reason I did not get what I wanted for the sale of the house. Buyer beware. (I am doing repairs on my own home -- you would not believe how stupid these prospective sellers are to a single older (not ancient) woman. A pest control company actually planted a horrible bug in my basement to get me to "seal the deal" Luckily, I know my basement and what kinds of bugs are down there...Are there any honest business owners around anymore? It's frightening!)
Second city masonry is a third rate criminal enterprise. They are con artist and should be in jail.
