We purchased a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator in the Spring of 2017, Model number 795.74023.411 By August, 2019 the compressor went out. We had a repair person out and were told that LG was now making Kenmore refrigerators, not Sears. We were also told we would have to pay for the repairs ourselves. We feel that either Sears or LG should either replace our compressor or replace the refrigerator at no cost to us.
It is a shame that Sears fails to stand behind their products. I have a 795.74043.411. I had always felt that Sears brand was a quality brand and what my family purchased while growing up. Now I find that my refrigerator has widespread failure. The model was manufactured by LG but branded Kenmore Elite. Come to find out LG knew there was an issue and they/Sears chose to sell these anyway. While LG has chosen to stand behind their brand by increasing their warranty for labor to 5 years, Sears has stuck with a 3 year labor warranty to fix a faulty design in the linear compressors. Now I am faced with hundreds of dollars and over 3 week wait to get Sears to fix my 4 year old appliance. There is a class action lawsuit against LG but no explanation of how to participate or how it impacts the Kenmore branded items.
