Sanford Brown Institute - Graduation

After 10 to 11 months of school, I finally got to get out and go to my extern site. First of all they made my class take a mod off so that they could put us in with a class that was already 20 plus students. Then told us that if we didn't go to our extern sites by August 14 to complete our 180 hours, that we would not graduate with the class. Well after severe medical problems like my kidneys shuting down, I was told that I would be kicked out of my program if I missed another day. So I checked myself out of the hospital and returned to school. I was told that, that was not an excused absence. Nearing the end of the road I had a lot of court dates due to a family emergency, well that was the only thing excused. I managed to keep a 3.5 gpa and still was treated like they didn't care. I finished everything by the end of September so that I could graduate with my class in November. But I was not contacted about this graduation so I went up there mid October only to be lied to by Mrs. Bonapart the president and Ms. Offer my department head. They told me I didn't finish in time and that because they made my class take that month off that I could not graduate. Even though we asked if that would affect us graduating on time before we went out on that break and Mrs. Offer assured us that it would not. Well 5 of my classmates called me from the graduation and asked why I was not participating. Come find out they finish there extern after me and still graduated on time! When I confronted the president Mrs. Bonapart about this she put me out her office and said that she would contact campus security. I still haven't received my certificate to this day and it has been 3 months.

i attended Sanford Brown in Orlando, Fl (now closed down due to certification issues), they didnt teach us anything! all they did was give you notes and notes, nothing hands on. Most of the teachers gave you the answers to your test wihtout ever actually teaching you. When we started they told us you had a 90 day period to complete your 180hrs of externship to later be told you had 30 days. I wasted 11 months of my time and thousands of dollars to learn nothing! Im glad they closed. It was about time something happened.

I enrolled in the Medical Billing & Coding program at the St. Peters, MO location. I completed the first five weeks (2 classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays) at the top of my class. I started the following Tuesday (1 class) - I just went that day and called the next day stating that I had to drop the program. My mom was very sick for a long time and wasn't sure how much time she had left and I wanted to spend as much time with her as I could. I was then sent a letter from the school stating they would be closing July 2013 and I was eligible to return to finish the program. I re-enrolled January 2013, 2 classes (Tuesday and Thursday). I went to the morning and afternoon class on Tuesday, and only the morning class on Thursday. My mom relapsed so once again I had to drop the course. I am now stuck with a $7000 bill - I did NOT take out any student loans. I was going to pay for this with my own personal money. I called the financial aids office about this and they told me, "we WILL get our money out of you one way or another". I then called the school to place me at another campus so I can at least finish the program since they were charging me. No one did anything (I called almost every day for weeks). I AM FURIOUS! They want my personal money and won't give me anything in return. On a side note, this school is a total waste of time. The staff I had did not instruct or teach. It was nothing more than a study hall to do a ton of useless busy homework. How can you obtain any kind of meaningful, challenging learning when they give you the test questions. Just a bunch of memorizing!

I loved going to Sanford-Brown...you are told from the begining that MISSING MORE THAN 10 HOURS OF EACH CLASS WILL CAUSE YOU TO HOUR OUT! So i understand that you had medical problems, court and bladdah blah but don't act surprised, this was ALL EXPLAINED TO YOU! they cannot LEGALLY certify you if you did not attend class enough. If they made an exception for you, then they would have to do it for everyone. I had an amazing and life-changing experience at Sanford-Brown. Thank you

I agree with most of you . We had teachers who never taught certain classes or flat out did not know the material to be taught. I am going into my last mod and then externship. A good portion of my education seemed to be self taught at home. I put in many hours which is fine, but it would have been nice to get taught in school. A lot of the teachers in Orlando are not about the student . A pay check seems to be what is important . I am terrified that I am going to look like a fool do to lack of knowledge during the externship. Do you homework before you sign the dotted line at Sanford Brown Institute in Orlando . There were so my problems with so many students that I am not going to go there, but trust me when I say DO NOT DO IT !

im attending SBI in Whiteplains and im pretty sure which ever SBI you attend you will recieve the same garbage. They will give you a good teacher for the first mod that keeps you motivated and gets you excited to learn, but that is just a scam because after the first thirty days( 4 out of the 5 weeks of a mod) you are not allowed to withdraw from the program and not have to pay for the total program. Then you get teachers that dont care if you pass or fail. The women teachers are the worse. One just walks into the room, doesnt present who she is to the clas, starts writting notes on the board and NEVER explains what she is writing( and this was for Anatomy of the Digestive organs). I complained to my counselor and the head of teachers for a whole mod and nothing got done about the teacher not teaching, therefore my whole class learned nothing from that important class and recieved a pitty passing grade. Then for Pharmacology another very important class we got another woman teacher who would give us busy work, not go over the busy work, and just leave the room. And the last week of the mod after my class completed the practical was told that we would get another final at the end of that week. THis teacher was not planning on giving the entire class a review in order to study a day before the exam. She only gave a review to students that went over there time, joked around in class and hardly showed up. The day of the final the whole class found out about the review packet and got angry. The teacher knew she got caught doing something wrong by not preparing her class, therefore she let us have a goup open book test and said that she didnt want to see our class ever again. WHAT kind of teachers are you hiring? This school is a scam. They tell you that not everyone gets excepted, but its a lie. Girls want to fight the lunch staff, are soo unprofessional and ghetto. The whole place is so unprofessional. Please i read all the complaints before i went and i didnt believe it, i have a 3.89 average and this is the worse school for yourself. Pretty much ill give you the names of the text books we use and you could teach yourself, thats what i have to do.There is only one good teacher there and you would be lucky to have him, Dr.S. That school is so lucky to have such an intelligent man.

The "school" no matter where you might attend is made up of professional smiles with people who have the sincerity depth of a childs wading pool. The games for me started the first week of class. I was not allowed to see my "admissions rep" as she had been warned I wanted to cancel out of the program. I sent letters of delivery confermation on 9/21/09 that were delivered on 9/22/09 I persoanlly cancelled my students loans via SallieMae and with the Pell grant review board. I am sure they did not do one thing after recieving my letters of intent but will continue to charge me a bill for only 3 weeks of class. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. Even the director of the DMS program is a lie and cheat. None of the campuses are certified with CAHEEP so even if you are one of the lucky ones they don't play games with along the way you still CAN NOT sit for the ARDMS which is the certification for sonogrophers in the US. Go read the prerequsites from the ARDMS web site for yourself. I got out early and will consider what ever bill they send me a godsend to have gotten out of the "school" at any cost. I'm speaking of the Tampa campus. Hostile employees, even more hostile are the admission reps and the head of that DMS department. Can you spell Cee yoU Next Tuesday cause it's a real runny mess. How their admission reps sleep at night is way beyond me. Again. DO NOT WATSE YOUR MONEY OR TIME on any campus. In 2007 the company that owns them CEC had to pay out over 450K in fines to the federal gov't for their gross infractions.. Oh and btw I CAN spell and it doesn't take an idiot to smell the disaster that awaits you at ANY campus.. Buyer ne ware!

This school seems like a total ripoff. They take your money but will not recolgnize when you have a medical problem in a hospital. That is the pits.
