Went out for 70th Birthday party. Had to wait for reservation, salad did not have dressing-returned, ordered wine and waiter brought was 2016 vs. the advertised 2014 bottle-finally settled on Caymus, waited for steak knife that had been removed from table, waited for a rare cold steak to be recooked to medium rare, steak shrunk to 8oz vs. 11 oz., Orginally-called in for birthday and did not have any kind of dessert prepared and had to remind the waiter that it was a Birthday. Manager acted as if this was normal, even though he was a sommelier. Even waited to get advice about wine and was disappointed - (he was rushed and did not offer any real information about a selection. The waiter did not have any knowledge of wine selections.) Have had more graciousness from the first women grand connesurier in Michigan from regular wine tastings than your manager. The manager was impatient and did not want to resolve the series of events or even acknowledge there was a problem.
The 70th birthday guest was very accomplished wine connesurier. Came home and both of us had food sickness, maybe raw tuna appetizer or something-including how upsetting the evening was w/o much service? Additionally, could not find waiter to return steak or ask for steak knife or return salad w/o salad dressing and had to wait for my guest to eat his dinner while I waited for my steak and steak knife. Furthermore, apparently no coffee refills without reminding the waiter for a refill.
I went to Ruth Chris because they usually deliver.
However, disappointed from start to finish with the undercooked food, lack of silverware, lack of attention, waitning for food, swich and bait for wine years - which is significant to the amount of tannins and finish of the wine, no dressing on Ceasar salads, the lobster was overdone, no acknowledgement of the 70th Birthday. It seemed as if it was a effort to produce the minimal wait staff. The wait staff, checks back and runs off before you can say a word and lets you sit there waiting for a chance to catch the wait staff - if there is an issue — and on that particular night I had several. Waited along time to see my guest eat their dinner before I even started mine.
The potato au grautin was not as memorable as Hyde Parks and the best entree was still the creamed spinich.- (although that is not the reason I usually come to Ruth Chris)
Was at Eddie V. 's (across the hwy) the day before and spent over $100 on appeitizers and had great food and service at the the bar vs. a sit down dinner for a special occasion.
Even the restaurants in Detroit have had better reviews and have had to "up their game" to bring people back downtown — and it shows.
We usually eat out 3X a week. This event was a disaster. Someone needs to return to the helm of this restaurant and update the service, timing, caring, and food quality.
