I gotta say, I never bought anything from Royal Chess Mall before, but I decided to give it a shot with the Artisan Zagreb chess men and boy, was I pleasantly surprised! The King is like 3 and 3/4 inches tall, and the bases are a bit wider than other sets I've seen, but they fit my 19-inch board like a glove. My board is black with pale-mahogany squares, and let me tell you, these Zagreb pieces look absolutely stunning on it! I was kinda hoping they'd come in a case or something, but they were wrapped up real good for shipping, with each piece getting its own little wrapping and everything, and then they were put in a real sturdy box. I personally thought they were worth the money, and this set is easily the nicest one I got now.

I'm writing this review to share my experience with Royal Chess Mall. I gotta say, I'm a bit disappointed with their customer service. I sent them two emails about an issue with my order, but I haven't received any response yet. So, I decided to share my problem here.

I received my order yesterday, and I was excited to open it. I ordered the 4.5" Carvers' Art Luxury Chess Pieces Only Set - Triple Weighted Bud Rosewood, and I must say, the pieces are beautiful. However, when I unwrapped them, I found three broken pieces.

The first one is the dark king. Its head and crown have a large chip and crack, and they were not attached properly. The second one is a dark knight whose mane has a section missing. And the third one is a dark bishop which has an entire loop gone. I understand that I ordered a "slightly imperfect" chess set, and many other pieces have imperfections and blemishes. But these three pieces are broken, and I can't use them.

I really want to continue doing business with Royal Chess Mall in the future, but I need these three pieces to be replaced. Can you please help me with this issue? I hope to hear from you soon.

These chess pieces are exactly what I've been searching for! I've looked at so many other sets, but none of them really satisfied me. But then I stumbled upon this set from Royal Chess Mall and I just knew it was the one. The antiqued boxwood is so nice and the Dubrovnik pieces have this special look that I can't get enough of. Overall, in my opinion, this set is the most successful copy of the 1950's Dubrovnik in terms of shape and elegance (especially the knight, king, and queen).

I was a bit worried about the weight of the pieces, as the original set was unweighted, but this set is heavy weighted, just like modern tournament sets in this range should be. The craftsmanship is top-notch and the pieces are packed so well that they arrived in perfect condition. I'm so happy to have these pieces in my collection and I give them a solid 5 stars.

The only downside was the delivery time to Germany, which took about a week to ten days, with a little delay due to customs requirements. I was lucky enough to buy the set with a 20% off offer from Royal Chess Mall, but unfortunately, the customs in Germany made me pay the original price. The knights are particularly impressive, with their flowing manes and expressive faces. They are truly works of art.

I purchased these pieces from the slightly imperfect section, so there were some minor defects and imperfections in a few of the pieces. However, I did not receive a card with the shipment, which was disappointing. This is my third purchase from Royal Chess Mall, and I have yet to receive a card. I've been playing chess for years now, and I finally decided to treat myself to a high-quality chessboard. I stumbled upon Royal Chess Mall and was immediately drawn to their beautiful rosewood and maple 21" board. The price was a bit steep, but I figured it would be worth it since this board would last me a lifetime.

When the board arrived, I was excited to unbox it and start playing. However, I quickly noticed some obvious flaws. There were dark filled gaps between squares on one side and the pale border, and all 4 pale squares had these gaps. The largest gap was a bit over a millimetre, which may not sound like much, but it was very noticeable. Another square had dark filler on both sides, and there were indentations in the shiny surface. I was disappointed that I had spent so much money on a flawed product.

I reached out to Royal Chess Mall to express my concerns, and while they were quick to respond to my initial inquiries about the product specifications, they were very slow to respond to my complaint. After several ignored messages, they finally offered me a $45 refund. However, this didn't even bring the price down to their current advertised price, which was frustrating. They also offered me an $85 discount on future purchases, but when I looked at their chess boxes and clocks, I found that their prices were double those on other sites, so there would have been no real savings.

In the end, I reluctantly accepted the $45 refund. While I appreciate that they eventually offered some sort of compensation, I can't help but feel like this company is all about making money. It's a shame because their products are beautiful, but the flaws and lack of customer service make it hard to recommend them.

However, I do have one small gripe - some of the figures are a bit wiggly. It seems like the weight wasn't placed deep enough into the figures, which is a bummer. I mean, come on guys, that's like the final step in making chess figures! If they had just taken a little more time and paid a bit more attention to detail, these figures would have been a clear 5-star rating. But hey, overall I'm still pretty happy with my purchase.

So, I got my order from Royal Chess Mall and it came in a decent amount of time. The package was wrapped up real nice and the stuff inside was looking real pretty. But, I gotta say, I had some trouble figuring out what size chess pieces I needed for the board I picked out. When I finally got the pieces, they were way smaller than I thought they'd be. I was pretty bummed out about that.

I decided to order a bigger board and bigger pieces, but I was worried they wouldn't get here in time for Christmas if I waited for a refund.
