I work for the company of Rescare located in Manhattan, Kansas. Since I've worked for this company starting in March, 2020, I have witnessed two different supervisors get fired, alongside the hiring manager. Now management if filled with DSP staff I have worked with in the same year.
The unprofessionalism has increased, I have had multiple conversations where I feel uncomfortable, my ideas, concerns and voice don't feel heard.
I'm easily pushed aside or asked to stay on the clock over the 16 hour limit, which I can prove with my time stamps from work. When staff don't show up to work, I contact my supervisor and my residential manager. Neither of them answer the phone or come in to the shift that needs coverage. This prolongs me to clock off and go home on time. From there I call the on call staff, I work at a all ladies residential house. The problem is most of the time it's a male on call, and can not relieve me of my shift.
There is also a problem with not enough staff to cover all the shifts, this means DSP's are constantly covering other houses shifts and complete 8 hours at one house, then clock in to another shift immediately after. I have been left on the clock over 16 hours by doing this because other staff don't come in. Often enough a lot of DSP's are on the clock for more than 20 hours.
My solution to these problems are new hiring of management, a better system for overseeing hours, support for the staff that are being mistreated and feel their concerns are not being heard, better training, and a day off now and then.
