Reeves College/CDI/Eminata Group review: Looking for people to join in class action against this fraudulent college 30

I am an alumni grad of CDI Halifax, and have never been able to get any employer to consider the diploma as legitimate. I spent year paying off the loan, and was never able to land a job in the area of study.

I would like to join this class action. I went to Reeves college for 2 years. About half way through the second year, I was told by Delilah that I had a zero balance. Then as the end of my course, before I could do my practicum, I was told I had a balance of over $5000. So I wasn't able to do my practicum or get my diploma. Then covid hit. Once the education minister told these 'schools' that they had to let us graduate and get our diploma, they decided to call me and ask me if I wanted to complete the steps to graduate... by the time I did, I had lost all skills as over a year had passed. No one would hire me. Now I have collections after me, and a hefty student loan that I have to defer every 6 months. I was misled and they had no sympathy. Yes I’m extremely interested as I have two different occasions of which I was dealing with this school I owed 10 grand for a orientation I went to in 2017 because I decided to pull out the last day of the 7 I had from the 7 day contract and I cancelled my student loan because they didn’t want to let me pull out so I didn’t owe anything to student aid bc however my credit was marked with 10000$ due to them not actually pulling me out so when I was contacted with an Facebook ad in 2022 in the spring I was told that I would be givin a bursary as I was on income assistance after I was cut off when I was told that I wouldn’t be and I had a short fall of 1800$ that I apparently owed them even after they took my entire allowable student loan they started me early as they said they would get more money from Covid money and I was supposed to be in school class but it was apparently a hybrid class I did the very first week twice once with teachers that weren’t out everyday teacher and once again with our teachers I luckily I had a computer of my own otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to start the class even tho they said that they would have supplied the computer I had to pay for photoshop out of my own pocket in order to do the course materials when I was cut off of welfare they said they would supply a bursary from VCAD it’s self to cover the short fall which I obviously was unable to cover and I had to fill out a budget for my monthly expenses and send it to the intake worker I was dealing with she even said she would try to see if I could get employment within the school to try to make ends meet as I had absolutely nothing to live with I was never givin a contract and I when I had contacted the ptib to figure out if I had any possible way to help figure this out as I was pretty upset that I wouldn’t even be able to work on my class as I didn’t have the money to buy the photoshop course I was enrolled in 3d modeling and animation the ptib said there has to be 49 hrs to be a film time program which the first semester was only 30 and the second I had only 12 hrs to which they kicked me I out the last day because I didn’t attend courses I had already attended I taught myself how to do my homework through YouTube and I recieved a text message one day from the school threatening that if I didn’t pay the 500$ towards the short fall that I would be cut from the program I replied with what are u talking abo and what is happening with this bursary I was promised that was to cover that in the very least and at least help me with my living. I then recieved a call from an unknown number and a woman told me “oh ur on a student loan “she said and made an appointment with me a week or so later to reapply for the second half of my loan she said I totally forgot about it the appointment when I recieved another call from an unknown number to which I said “ I’m sorry I completely forgot if ur willing to wait like 3-5 mins I’m actually not far from the campus I can be ther quickly” she replied “ im actually working from home so the appointment was supposed to be over Microsoft teams so let’s reschedule “ which I thought was really weird as every other appointment I had the person was at the campus and it was possible Tj come in anyways when we got to the next appointment again I was called from an unknown number and she wanted me to share my screen and log into my student aid bc account but I was wearing and I was on my iPhone so I declined so she asked me to allow her access to my student aid bc account through my authentication app and she shared her screen and the only thing she did was check a box allowing the institution full control of all financial applications and payouts without my convent or knowledge I was kicked out the last day of the second semester and I was so frustrated and feeling defeated by the. Even when I contacted the ptib and they contacted them asking for a contract they of course supplied a contract that I didn’t have digitally signed of course by me I ended up calling student aid bc around October or November just to find out that they didn’t withdrawal me from the program and had just recieved the last payment from my student loan I advised them that I haven’t been in the program since Aug and they made them pay back the second half of the loan anyways I hope so I’m now being sent letters and thing from student aid bc for a loan that I never was even givin a ability to benefit from and since I was applied and approved in 2017 I don’t have another possible opportunity to get an education at all I’m a bc born Canadian girl with barriers that are out of my control and that literally the one opportunity that I had and it was taken from me when I received the computer that was supposed to be for the program it had absolutely nothing on it for programs it was basically a clean new computer and I was told in eh beginning when I asked why the program cost so much money that it was because we have the latest and most up to date programs that are paid for in the tuition that we get to keep. I don’t even know why the opened the box at all because they didn’t add any programs at all to it . I mean there was certain materials that were needed like a 50$ set of paint in order to actually participate in a project that was required to pass and knowing I don’t have any money at all and no way to get to the campus no bus pass no nothing they took everything and said I still owed them and when I ended up loosing my only income source which they advised me wouldn’t happen I was promised a bursary from the school to cover the short fall of 1800$ and some living allowance why was made to fill out a budget plan for each month when I was told I would be guvin a few thousand dollars to be able to make it through the program which never ever herd back again from at all in fact the woman who was calling me from unknown number was threatening me to take away online access to the program should I not make a 500$ payment toward it in fact from the previous application to the program I had a huge mark on my credit which I’m not even sure if it has been removed yet or not which they promised me they would do because there was absolutely no trace of me in there systems at all when I mentioned it I left the achool in tears back in 2017 when I pulled out of the contract on the last day because they wouldn’t let me pull out I argued all day with them the admissions person took me aside and said if u don’t start now I will see to it that u can never ever come back to this school as I pulled string to get u in here I had no identification no photo id not even a birth certificate when we applied for the student loan that time we also applied to receive my identification as well prior to opening the student aid bc account

I was flasely mislead that a diploma from Reeves was promissed work .no one will hire you with a fake diploma every company i have applied after wasteing 25000. Well here we are in Mid May and my dispute and the process involved is a slow and one0sided process.

Still I am waiting for a judgement on my dispute.

As a student who is filing a complaint this way, I would suggest getting a lawyer because here in Canada,

there are other things going on which is why CDI was able to qualify for federal and provincial funding,

yet if you go to Canada's website and navigate to Advanced Education, is states the government of Canada does NOT back or fund non-accredited learning institutions.

So you ask yourself, then how is CDI able to get government backed funding for their student body?

Well, the same way other business and commercial entities squeak through the cracks or loopholes nobody else has access to...Somewhere between accredited colleges/universities and private career colleges, there is someone or a few someones who are getting kickbacks and monetary gifts for every single person CDI signsup. Which is why they put the most effort and manpower into recruitment. I was told not long ago by the 3rd party looking into my file that his/her job is only to determine if CDI promised things or changed things during ones recruitment/registration and during the course itself. I then asked, So what kind of proof, aside from the overwhelming proof Ive already submitted, are you needing from me?

He told me, he would need like a recorded phone conversation, or something in writing that contradicts the terms and conditions outlined in CDI's Student Handbook. I couldnt believe what i was hearing.

Who would ever hafve that kind of proof? When someone signs up to a college for whatever course, they are excited, and driven and making sure they fill out forms correctly and whatnot. Nobody initially be in detective mode and assume a college would lie to them. I asked how many files, that he knows of or worked on has ever submitted or had this kind of proof.

He declined to comment and the conversation ended there.

The best way to raise a dispute is a class action lawsuit like the nurses class back in 2017 i believe.

I even wrote the Minister of Advanced Education in ALberta.

He wrote back and didnt even address my sitatuion or the points I outlined in my letter to him.

Instead he gave me the address and phone number to income supports (Welfare) and commented as if I wrote him a letter about help finding a job.

Let alone I am 20,000 dollars in debt when the course that is certified and recognized would have only been 8,000. I spent all that money on a "diploma" that is not even recognized.
